Anatomy of a pullout    By Ariella Ringel-Hoffman
1. No reason to sing the HaTikva!
Singing the national anthem HaTikva under these circumstances is absolutely inappropriate. But of course, this government stopped to care about the feelings of Jews a long time ago!!
Matthias Roth ,   Switzerland   (06.13.05)
2. goose bumps
reading this gave me goose bumps. Teh pullout must be stopped, as it's tearing this nation apart.
jody ,   tel aviv   (06.13.05)
3. the occupation must be stopped....
as it is tearing the country apart! and yes! Sing HaTikva as you are repatriated to the State of Israel!

4. Sharon & Cohorts Will Be Tried For This
And to all the above I say - Sharon and his whole crew will be tried before a war crime tribunal. Not for Sabra & Shatila, (as the antisemites would of had it, where the Lebanese Christians killed others during a battle!)) but for crimes against humanity against his own people. Tragically the mostly heroic IDF will be used as a pawn in this geopolitical chess game, and the entire country will pay the price for this. But the political echelon will be put on trial, not unlike Miloshovik. Mark my words this will be the result. The national trauma that will happen will be incomparable to what happened during Yamit. There is NO comparison. We must all remember this -the German gov't also passed inhuman laws against their Jews. PASSAGE of illegal laws - ones inherently violating massive civil human rights -does not de facto make a law legal.

5. Spare a thought for thye victims of these greedy settlers
Such sympathy is wasted on selfish, fanatical and arrogant settlers who have been trampling on the human rights of the indegenous inhabitants of the occupied territories for the last 38 years. The settlers' swimming pools, sewage outlets, exclusive highways were always constructed without a thought to the interests and livlihood of the people they were dispossessing. Speaking as a diaspora Jew I won't be shedding any tears for these money-grabbing invaders. Good riddance to them.

These people are not "money grabbing settlers" as you have described them; rather modern day pioneers. They went into the settlements at the government's bidding, and built their homes with blood, sweat and tears, to protect and defend our country. I know some of them personally. Having said that, I DO agree that now is the time to evacuate, since I believe that it is our only chance for peace in our region. After all, we have tried everything else, including bombing the heck out of them - I have heard the bombing with my own ears. We MUST do this as the next step on the hopeful road towards peace. I have faith in our military that they will continue protecting our country's citizens, and - who knows? Maybe, someday in the not too distant future, we will be able to go back and visit, and the citizens of Dir El Balach and Han Junis will come visit here. I say this not as a Jew who lives in the Diaspora, rather as an Israeli citizen who has a vested interest in this plan working, for if it doesn't, the bombs will fall in MY backyard - literally. I only hope that when our soldiers are called upon to evacuate homes of non-Israeli citizens (for whatever reasons, and they ARE called upon to do this often) that they are instructed to behave as empathetically as has been described in this article, with Jews.

8. RABID JEW-HATE OF ETHNIC JEW CLEANSING ENDANGERS EVERY JEW
Gaza's Jews built everything on sand on land that NEVER belonged to Arabs! What is the sole criteria for forcible removal by the military? Being a JEW! JEWS ARE BEING PUNISHED FOR ONE REASON ONLY. THEY ARE JEWS. Israeli leaders are well aware they are setting the most dangerous precedent for other countries to imitate their criminal, depraved acts. They don't care. The Israeli leaders example of forcible removal of Jews by the military for the sole reason a person is Jewish, will be followed by other nations. It is only a matter of time. The TINY nation of Israel will not be big enough to hold all the Jews fleeing to to Israel to escape persecution from around the world.

9. Very chilling
Very chilling, and very graphic, but very necessary, for the sake of peace. Unfortunately, the government put these people there, and now they must pay the price for the government's politics.

10. EMPOWERING GLOBAL JIHAD
Global jihad rages around the world. worldnetdaily.com June 11 2005: 'Nigeria's war on Christians' 'Islamic law brings death, suffering to non-Muslims' "More than 10,000 Christians have been killed since 1999, the year Islamic Sharia law was introduced in Nigeria...Nearly l,000 homes and churches have been burned down by Muslim radicals..." worldnetdaily.com, Jan 29 2005 'Report: Saudis spread hate through U.S. mosques' "89-page report by Freedom House...Saudi Publications on Hate Ideology Fill American Mosques...Saudi government propaganda examined reflects a totalitarian IDEOLOGY OF HATRED THAT CAN INCITE TO VIOLENCE...being mainstreamed within our borders through a foreign government, namely Saudi Arabia...Various Saudi government publications assert IT IS A RELIGIOUS OBLIGATION FOR MUSLIMS TO HATE CHRISTIANS AND JEWS...The documents stress when Muslims are in the lands of the unbelievers, they must BEHAVE AS IF ON A MISSION BEHIND ENEMY LINES...Either there to acquire new knowledge and make money to be later EMPLOYED IN THE JIHAD AGAINST THE INFIDELS..." In Israel, jihad is not fought. It is submitted to. ynetnews, 'Terror returns to Gaza' "The IDF has so far refrained from initiating offensive action in response to the growing violence, in light of understandings reached with the Palestinian Authority." The terrorists have been allowed by Israel's leaders to heavily bombard Gaza's Jews with rocket and mortar attacks. Continual religious war has been waged against Gaza's Jews and Israel's government has failed to respond and protect her Jewish citizens. Israel's leaders, in an unbelievable act of submission to Islam, gave control of Judaism's holiest site, the Temple Mount, to Muslims. Jews and Christians are arrested if they pray or even suspected of praying on the Temple Mount. Are there ANY Jewish leaders in Israel's government? In Israel, global Islamist jihad is financed. It is encouraged. It is rewarded.

13. Imagine
Imagine Israel withdrew from Gaza, gave the westbank some freedom. Imagine Palestinians and Israelis are visiting each other. Imagine them after few years of solution that they removed the borders and lived like brothers. I personally dont have anything against jews, although I remember the first and the second Intifada. The price for that is not big believe me, remove the settlements, make some virtual borders, international forces controls the borders. Give the people time to forget the occupation and everything will be solved.

14. To Linda
I'm not sure whether it is sheer ignorance, or a conscious demagogic effort on your part, which led you to the conclusion that Jews are to be evacuated because of their ethnicity, or because of their religion. The reason for this move, or at least, the reason it gets wide support around here, is because it's believed that by removing the settlements in the strip, Israel would save a lot of lives, money, and political capital. As for the Global Jihad thing, most sane Israelis and Palestinians would probably, and rightly, tell you that it has very little to do with local politics - despite what some extermists in the American administration, or in the Islamic world may think. And as for the Jewish holy sites, why insist to put them in Israel's hands, and not under anyone else's, with international assurances of them being kept intact?

i'm not going to waste my time arguing about the disengagement, you refer to them as "jewish" that would imply that YOU are not jewish, What right then do you have in telling us about our holy sites in OUR land! you seem to trust the so called international community a bit too much, Have you been to the tomb of joseph in shechem lately ? i have...

17. To No. 15
I am Jewish. And I think my "right" comes not from being Jewish, but from the fact that I live in this country, and thus bare responsibility, either directly or indirectly, to any Israeli presence in the territories. I wouldn't want to witness any form of vandalism or destruction in holy sites, and thus I stress that some kind of deal ought to be struck, with whomever have the power to make it stick. Europe, USA and some key neighbouring Arab countries could easily arrange it, I'd say.

19. evacuations
The bible clearly states the original and everlasting borders of Israel. The "occupied" territories are well inside the borders that G D himself set. The bible says the jews will never be removed from their land again. Wait and see the hand of almighty G D move in a powerful way in August!
