Ancient prejudice guides Vatican    By Yaakov Lappin
1. Vatican
The reason for "christian" anti-semitism is not because they think the Jews crucified Jesus, The New Testament is quite clear that it was the Romans. Jesus had a large following amongst his fellow Jews. The simple reason for "christian" anti-semitsm is that Jesus was a Jew. And there has been thousands of years resentment against the Jew Jesus, for initiating a faith that replaced their beloved pagan religions. Most of the conversions were forced. when Christianity was made the state religion...
Reuven Ben-Daniel ,   Kfar Mordecai,Israel   (07.31.05)
2. Vatican hypocrisy
Lappin's point about the legality of the Iraq war is weak, since most European nations do not hold the war illegal. Indeed, many nations in addition to UK (Italy, Spain, Poland, etc) did in fact send troops, so it cannot be said that this war is "against international norms". However, a much stronger point can and should have been made regarding Egypt -- does anyone believe that the summary rounding up of suspects in Egypt is in accordance with international norms? Do we expect that all detainees will have their religious needs accommodated, and will be interrogated in accordance with the Geneva convention? Has the Pope urged that Egypt be careful to respect human rights and abjure violence? That is where the silence is so deafening.

3. No difference
As Tony Blair declared, there is no reason, and no excuse to this kind of violence. Terrorism must be condemned without restriction! According to the pope's way of thinking, he shoudn't have condemned bombings in Egypt. This, because terrorists would risk death penalty if they are brought to egyptian tribunals. Is this logic? For a jewish soul who can't make difference between human beeings, it's just unacceptable! That could be interpreted as racism and islamophobia. By the way, could someone remind to the pope that israeli justice does not condemn to death?? Even the worst criminals?

4. the pope
i have no doubt that the pope and the whole vatican culture are soaked in anti -jewish feeling.no question.
richard ,   shropshire   (07.31.05)
5. euroPope
the papacy is very similar to the euro left in its views toward israel and jews. the catholic church, over the centuries, prepared the groundwork for the secular european belief system by giving preference to its tradition, which involves a sharp anti-jewish polemic. the papal positions are merely natural expressions of this tradition which, many times, contradicts the very text of the bible it calls "scripture". no wonder it fomented the corruption and persecution of the past, which only results in its irrelevance of today. all this nurturing in the cradle of western europe.

6. Re: Ancient predjudice guides Vatican
Dear Mr. Lappin, You are right on the mark. It is important for us to condemn this when it is deserving of a response. I am not an overly relgious man but I am reminded of the prophet's words. Something to the effect: No weapon formed against you shall prosper; every tongue that rises against you in judgment, you will condemn. I cannot find the verse right away but as far as I am concerned, you and MK Porash (Arutz Sheva today) are doing God's work. Regards, Steve

you are totaly wrong ,israel has killed thousands of palestinians only in the past 4 years ,and that does not include the 50 years before that , israel is the biggest death penalty supporter in the world especialy when it comes to the palestinians , children ,women , and men of all ages

10. Pope John Paul, of blessed memory
The entire world, not just the Catholic people, lost a true friend and a wonderful human being when Pope John Paul passed away earlier this year. How many Christian priests during World War II would have picked up a starving Jewish girl and carried her on his back? The successor Pope is a German and has already displayed his attitute towards Israel.

11. His Holiness is right in his approach
Its upto him when to decide to condemn a terrorist act. He is not anyones stooge. Jews are not responsible for any conspiracy hatched against Jesus or Moses or any other part. In all times their were and are people within all faiths who are hypocrites and criminals and are hatching conspiracies every day. Like the zionists, likudniks, neocons and their stooges who are the criminals at the present, or the ku Klux clan or Al Qaida and corrupt Arab regimes. The folks of Sen Hadrin were powerful group of people who didn't like being challenged by Jesus Christ so they hatched a conspiracy which didn't succeed. Mary Magdalen said it to the disciples of Jesus but their were so scared they thought he was crucified but he was not and God Saved him. This is something that all the Christians know but practice something that has been established at that time on hearsay which is a tradition but not factual. When Jesus will come back for the second time he will make things clear to the Christians, Muslims and Jews and bring peace on earth and put things straight on those people argue and dispute. His arrival is subject to the arrival of the AntiChrist who will appear very soon in Israel and will be killed by the hands of Jesus and someone else. His Holiness is right on his stance on terrorism and cannot be dictated when and how to condemn terrorism. Zionists please stop crying antisemitsm. The father does not bear the inequity of the son. Bible says it clearly. A nation cannot be blamed for a few peoples crimes. So all the Jews are not to be blamed for a small and powerful groups crimes. A criminal is a criminal no matter what faith he or she says they belong to. Like the Blessed FBI is taking care of the organized diversified mafia. His Holiness is blessed and just and would remain so and the zionists will continue to cry antisemitsm.

One day you are a hater of Islam, the next day your a hater of Catholics. You are in no way a Christian you are out of this world.

13. Does this surprise anyone?
Of course the head of the Catholic Christian religion is anti-Israeli. Most Israelis believe in a different religion than his. Why should this be any surprise? Religion is divisive. That's plain and simple. The sooner we, as humans, get away from religion, the sooner we will understand one another.

14. Vatican - Jerusalem News
Friends and Neighbors, I pray for your kind intents to be known. We will never forget the horrors of the Holocaust, nor the viciousness that follows hatred wherever it lies. But to pillory my Holy Father, for a presumed ommision rather than simply ask for his blessing, like those he has given others, is simply fearful and mean in my eyes. What is your intent?

15. Sal, aa aa and the others
It is hard to understand the motivation of people like Sal Azzam and others like him who lack the decency to tell the truth. These predators compulsively read Israeli and Jewish News so they can write their stupid postings. I guess it makes them feel good to think that they are writing something hurtful. These so-called people distort and omit facts such as the idiotic statement about Israel's execution of thousands of Palestinians. Of course, they don't mention the infant who was killoed in her Father's arms or the 2 Jewish children who were killed and their bodies mutilated by their or the thousands of Israelis who were killed before the 6 Day War by terrorists. I remember when Israel reacted to the murder of civilians by terrorists based in Lebanon by blowing up Lebanese planes without the loss of a single Arab life. Naturally, the Pope at that time, offered his condolences to Lebanon for destroyed planes and mentioned nothing about dead Israeli civilians.

20. Vatican -Jerusalem News
As far as I am aware Blessings come from G-D not a man and by calling him the holy father and using capital letters implies that you make him equall to G-D, he is a man the same as any other and is therfore open to critisim and comment. The only Holy Father is G-D Himself regardles of which religeon you choose to keep.

21. To Bartholemew Mr. Far Go
Most of your comments made no sense. You zionists are as retard as Baruch Marzel the redeemer is or Meir Kahane is. One track zombie mind. We as Muslims condemn terrorism in which innocent people die. And you as a zionist zombie cannot condemn the expulsion of 3 million Palestinian arabs christians and Muslims in their land living in Jordan and jenin and in diaspora. While your bloody thirsty zombie settlers are enjoying their lives on the land of these refugees under the lable of "God". Totally against the Ten commandment. You know that I am right but hundreds of thousands like you are retards and brainwashed intellgent zombie/zionist and will never admit your mistake or crime till you face the law. Like Jesus said you bow before the letter of the law. Or Moses did something right when he ordered the killing of 23000 Golden calf worshippors with the hands of Jews. That was justice and no body cried Antisemitsm at that time. I know you are beyond any correction or repentence on your lies, deciet because you and your blind guides are one and the same till you meet destruction with your own hands. Millions of Jews who are for justice and equality are with us but unfortunately without any real power like your ape likudnik neocon government in Israel and their stooges in the White House are.

22. Ignorant Anti-Catholic Bigots Like Lappin
I suppose an ignoramus like Lappin will never read his own Rabbi, David Dalin. Check out what he has to say about Pope Pius XII. http://www.catholicleague.org/pius/dalinframe.htm I doubt that Lappin will get beyond the first paragraph. It may ruin his day to find out what real Christians have done for Jews/

23. Sal Azam
I read the letter from Bartholemew and it wasmosty factual and just a little opinion. The Arabbs did assassinate the 2 month old Pass baby and the Vatican did offer sympathy to the Lebanese govt after their planes were blown up in retaliation for deadly terrorist incidents in Israel The Lebanese govt did nothing to stop these raids and the Pope did not offer any condolences to Israel for the loss of life and seemed to care more about d4estroyed machines. Sal's letter, opn the other hand was bizarre and so full of rage that it was obviously the product of someone who is so bigoted or so deranged that he/she woule even write such nonsense. By the way, he accused Bartholemew(Zionists, apes etc) but could not cite a single untruth in Bart's letter. So he reverted back to the tricks of the bigotted mind. Once again, why would a sane person be influenced by Sal's rants. Once again, it is obvious that only the bigoted, the cognitively impaired, or the emotionally disturbed would believe his writings.

24. Ignorant Catholics like 22-The German Shepard is Wrong
Like all our persecutors, he'll get his end and we'll be reading about him in the history books and telling our children how wrong he was.

25. Moral reckoning
As a Gentile Christian I was intrigued by Daniel Goldhagen's book of the above title. It very much supports Mr Lappin's view. Whilst I strongly disagree with some of the book, it was profoundly shocking to see how closely intertwined Romanism (and to some extent Protestants too) were with Nazis. A clear example was in the first formal recognition of the nascent Nazi government in 1933 by the Vatican. Shalom. Incidentally Steve Klein's (6) verse is Isa 53.17.
