31. Why you care A.H?

So why Israelis keep bitching about how Arab is dangerous to the existence of their state? If we just consider two Arab state Egypt and Iraq, they are the cradle of the human civilization. According to recent statistics the Israel economy is decline, while the oil Arab state economy is booming. Saudi Arabia alone invest around 180 billion dollar in the US economy. According to recent statistics conducted in USA the minority with highest college graduates is Arabs. The main reason for the major Arab state decline is wars combined with dictatorship. By the way Iranians are not Arab. Why you care anyway about Arab? Just think every time you drive your car about where is this oil is coming from?

First off, Arab countries aim their weapons at Israel. That's one reason to worry. But let's put that aside for a moment and address your other points. I'd like to see the sources of your information. I looked up some of the claims you made and they don't seem to be true: 1) that the Israeli economy is in decline (see http://www.themarker.com/eng/article.jhtml?ElementId=%2Fibo%2Frepositories%2Fstories%2Fm1_2000%2Ftase20050802_01e.xml&AdType=1_A) 2) that SA invested 180 billion in the US economy. (they withdrew 200 billion in late 2002 - see http://www.arabicnews.com/ansub/Daily/Day/020822/2002082211.html) 3) that Arabs are the minority with the highest college graduates. The figures I have show that Arabs have slightly more than 4 out of 10 with bachelors degrees or higher, while Jews have 6 out of 10 (http://www.allied-media.com/Arab-American/Arab_demographics.htm and http://www.jewishaz.com/jewishnews/000505/poll.shtml). 4) that the oil in American cars is predominately from Arab countries. See http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/saudigas.asp, which says that only 31% of American fuels are refined from Arab-supplied oil.

The article about "economic decline" is outdated. The articel about Saudi oil doesn't support the view you espoused that a majority of oil is from Arab countries. The study you referred to on the CNN web site was prepared by Zogby International, a survey firm owned by a Lebanese Christian. Their study considers Jews an ethnic group, and they were included in the survey together with Arabs and other minorities.

Shai is trying to tell us that Jews are superior and Arabs altough with the oil they produce are less then to be considered !!! but tell me Shai ... what if he Arabs stop the pumping oil ??? what will happen to your beloved America that keeps send billions in aid to your so called growing economy ? what will happen even to them ??? maybe one day the Arab leaders will understand that they have what others don't ... OIL
36. We have no superiority complex (35)
Shai ,   Israel   (08.03.05)
Frankly, if the Arabs had more college graduates than Jews, it wouldn't bother me one teensy weensy bit. That's because I don't have a "superiority complex". Rather, the evidence suggets you have an "inferiority complex", because apparently Jewish achievements make you feel smaller, and you feel the need to make up stories about us to knock us down a few notches. That's a pretty cheap way to advance yourselves, in my opinion. You should have to earn your triumphs, like the rest of us. When you do, you'll get an "attaboy" from me (not that you want it). I've got no problem at all with successful Arab states, and successful Arabs. More power to you all. I really admire what they are doing in Dubai. Leadership with foresight for once, forced on them when they realized that their oil reserves will run out very soon. Regarding whether Arabs stop pumping oil, what difference does it make? They won't because it's not in their interest to stop, and you know that as well as I do, I'm certain. But if they did, there are a few options still. First, Russia and North/South American resources would be developed as prices rise and the control that Arab governments have over the oil market will whither over time, probably never to recover. Second, maybe once and for all America and others would catch on that it's time to develop the alternatives to fossil fuels. The alternatives, such as gasahol, have been stymied by the political forces funded by the big American oil companies. Some of these forces are in bed with the oil-fed despotic regimes that are so beloved to you. Others, such as American construction firms, are in turn fed by the profits in these regimes, and there is hardly an American administration without an executive or two from these companies serving in a high post. There are a lot of economic interests in America that would not like to see the Arab stranglehold on 31% of America's oil market weakened. Regarding the billions in aid that the Americans send Israel, most of that is spent in the US of A. Only 10% of it is aid for non-military issues, and the vast majority fo the military aid is not spent here. If it were up to me, America would keep the assistance, since it's obvious by now that it comes with many, many strings attached that in my opinion harm our ability to defend ourselves from those who wish us harm.
37. superb history
Egyptian ,   Egypt   (08.03.05)
From one month and it's outdated!!! About the Arab oil you are the only person that has this opinion? No body can deny some Jewish people achievement. But you are not one of them. And their achievement is belong to their native countries mostly US, and not to Israel. Without the military American support and the economic support, it will be difficult for your country to survive. You just keep repeating the broken record about the Israelis achievement. The only history you have is Nazi concentration camp, King of Iraq destroys the Jewish state, king of England kicks all the Jewish out of England for 300 years, slaves to the pharaoh of Egypt etc. Yea it’s a very superb history. You are comparing just 70 years; you have to extend to the last 2000 years at least to confirm your point, if you have a point from the start.
38. OK, Mr. Egypt, let's take the gloves off.
Shai ,   Israel   (08.03.05)
"Nobody can deny some Jewish people achievement"? Who in his right mind would risk looking like an idiot by trying to deny it? Well, I guess you're a risk taker. All of us Jews are proud of a Jewish accomplishment wherever it occurs, whether in the US, Israel or elsewhere. I'm sure that the 8 Arab winners (including Arafat) of the Nobel Prize are a source of pride for the several 100 million Arabs, just like our 167 or so make we 13 million Jews prideful (see http://www.jinfo.org/Nobel_Prizes.html). I'm certain that no Jew feels the need to deny Arabs bragging rights over Nobel Laureate for literature Albert Camus (1957) just because he was French, so why do you want to deny me the pride I gain when I see American Jews who became laureates just because I'm Israeli? You commented on Egypt and Iraq being the cradle of mankind, but I sensed that you were claiming credit for the accomplishments of Ancient Egypt and Babylon for your own people, the Arabs. If you were actually descendents of these groups rather than merely occupying their lands, there'd be nothing else to say, but claiming credit for them is kind of like Arafat claiming Jesus was a Palestinian. But that's nothing new as it turns out, is it? I suggest you focus on the glory days of the Arabs in the 1300's and seek to replicate the atmosphere that created that. You've got the potential, but the will is up to you to muster. You don't need the pride of other peoples, and blaming others for your dearth of accomplishments is a cop out that will get you nowhere. Regarding your other claims, yes the article you mentioned from 1 month ago was the opinion of a man attempting to predict what the numbers will say one month in the future, and what the numbers of the past "meant". When the numbers actually came out, they contradicted his opinion. Therefore, yes, "one month and they are outdated". That's not atypical in the post-industrial era. About Arab oil, facts are not matters of opinion, only the meaning that facts have. I gave you the link. Look it up and educate yourself. And, we are grateful for our alliance with America, surely the greatest western nation ever. Regarding American support, it only began in full force when it served America's interests to begin in full force, and that was part of America's attempt to counter Soviet influence in the Middle East, and that didn't begin in earnest until the mid 60's, nearly 2 decades after Israel was established. Apparently you read it and ignored it or didn't read it, but see the previous post (36) for the facts on how much of the aid actually supports Israel's economy rather than America's. In turn for that aid, America gets Israeli technology, intelligence about the performance of their weaponry, and other forms of intelligence cooperation. Both sides think the deal is fair, or it wouldn't be continuing. In any case, it's all relative and I suppose the US thinks they are getting good value compared to what they are getting for the $2.5 billion or so in aid they give Egypt every year. Lastly, it's never NOT been difficult for my people to survive, but we've outlasted all our enemies. Mr. Egyptian, there's a lesson in that for people who feel the way you do about Israel.

Egyptian ,   Egypt   (08.03.05)
It seems you don't understand what I meant. You and other people of you mentality just keep repeating the same broken record. I didn’t check the facts but thinks to you I know that some of your 167 Nobel Prize winner was mixed half-Jewish ancestry. We don’t classify people that way. This style is the racist people. My grandmother was Jewish and she converts to Islam after she marries my grandfather. She lived and died as a Muslim and she was buried in a Muslim graveyard. Does this make me Jewish? I don’t think so. Even the former king of Egypt was married to a Jewish wife, the mother of his 3 sons. Does this make them a Jewish? No also. Regarding Egypt, Great civilization don’t vanish, the 2000 Arabs can not change the structure of 20 million Egyptian society. This is the same land with the same people. Egypt civilization always melts other civilization in it. This happens with Greek, roman, Arab, and ottoman. This Arab propagandas starts in 1953 after Nasser took power. This was never the situation in Egypt history before. Usually, I don’t have anything against the state Israel; this is just a reply to your crab. I respect your freedom of press and the your freedom of speech, which we don’t have. This is why we are lagging behind. By the way where is your name in the Noble prize winners?

I'm not on the list, obviously. Never claimed to be. I am not sure whether you were implying that I have to be as smart as them to confront you in this debate. Fortunately I have the easier task of just needing to be smarter than you. As far as your grandmother, her children would be Jewish by halachic standards. Whether you would be Jewish would depend on whether your mother was her daughter. According to Jewish tradition, the tribe of a boy or girl is inherited from the father, but the religion is inherited from the mother. Believe what you want, but that's our belief for more than 3000 years. I guess that'll be a surprise for the former king of Egypt, right? As far as "half-Jews", I supplied you the link that said as much so that's no surprise, that some of the 167 were "half-Jews". So what? What if only 10% were wholly Jewish, would that be such a shame for a nation as small as ours? Jews are not part of a "race" as you assert when you call people like me "racist", it's a nationality. We are also a religion, one that is rooted in Israel both nationalistically and spiritually. We are direct cultural descendants of the same Jews who lived here 3000 years ago, as proven by our devotion to the same traditions that guided those Jews of yore. Regarding Egypt, I'd like to see proof that irrespective of it being the same land, that it's the same people as you assert. As far as I can tell based on the evidence, today's Egyptians are Semites and in fact refer to themselves as such (Arabs). However, ancient Egypt was populated by Hamitic tribes. You don't have music, food, language, or any other aspect of your culture that is similar or derivative from the Egytian culture of 3000 years ago, but rather, you resemble Arabs of other countries in almost every way. Egyptian society didn't "melt other cultures" as you claim, rather Arab society melted it such that no remnant remains. But I'll be willing to be convinced if you can supply convincing proof of your supposition.

Unfortunately I don’t think you are smarter than anybody. It was just a joke nothing more. Actually, I don’t know why I’m wasting my time with a guy that thinks he is the only guy with brain in the whole world. You hatred just blinded you. You don’t have any idea about the Egyptian society, it still the same complex society. I read a lot about that, this include papers and books. A paper was published last year that did a genetic study on the random sample of the Egyptian people, which was performed by American scientists. The study shows clearly that the Egyptian people genetics are the same of the genetics of the mummies with some mix with other races (namely according to the study European, Asian). You are not the only one with concern with this, African American is trying to prove that the ancient Egyptian were black. For your information, the belly dancing is from the pharaoh’s time. Most of the food is still the same. Egypt has its own food courses, which doesn’t even share by other neighboring countries. When Egyptians convert into Christianity some of the pharaoh practice and customs vanish. Nubian of Egypt all of them are Muslim now, the Nubian people always repel against the Egyptian government during the pharaoh time. Now they are part of the Egyptian cultures. Also, Joking is big part of the Egyptian culture since the pharaoh time. Even the Egyptian Arabic language has Egyptian ancient words in it, that only Egyptians known what it means. It took around 300 years for the Egyptian to start to convert into Islam. Most of the governors of Egypt for the last 700 years were not Arab even, they were Muslims. It’s too difficult to explain a 7000 years history. But a simple practice in Egypt for the funeral of deceased people, dated back to the pharaoh time. Simply relatives of the deceased gather every Thursday after the death to mourn the dead until they reach the 40 days after the death which in ancient Egypt stands for the day that the mummy becomes ready. This is shared by both Muslims and Christians. We are proud with our multicultural heritage pharaoh, Christians, and Muslims periods. The mother of Arabs is Egyptian “wife of Abraham”. All of this are based on facts and evidence and based on I have hunch style. You are not direct cultural descendants of the same Jews that lived 3000 years ago. Simply Jews did not have a blond hair or blue eyes. May be you can start reading about the thirteen tribe. May be you are an Anglo-Saxon. There are a lot of people that love Jewish for just the idea http://www.holywar.org/txt/homily7.html

Let's take your quote out of context to reflect a more accurate perspective. Look at the first 4 words of post 42. I don't hate anybody, and I'm not blind. I think your posts are just thoughtless meanderings and wishful thinking that twist facts, and my responses have been to the point, supplying links and requesting repeatedly that you provide sources to back up your view. For example, I looked for a half hour on Google and couldn't find a single article on the web that supported the viewpoint you mentioned, that the DNA from mummies shows a link with modern Egyptians. Not a single one. You didn't take the time to provide a link so that we could examine the credibility of your claims. Most of the links I found are trying to prove that the stronger connection is with the Negroid race, including the Nubians that supposedly predate the Egyptians in that area. I'd be grateful if under the "just the facts" heading you could add a few. There are Egyptians with "negroid" features, such as the late President Sadat. But did his DNA resemble that of the Pharoahs, or that of the Sudanese? Theories are fine, but they are not facts. Regarding belly dancing, if it's from the Pharoah's time (whatever, I'll buy that), that makes modern Egyptians descendents of ancient ones? Probably as much as Yemenites are descendents. "Most of the food is the same"? Can you support this with "facts", too? Maybe a menu from the pyramids? Which "unique" food courses do Egyptians have that, aside from not being shared with adjacent states, were shared by the Pharoahs? Big Macs don't count. As far as Egyptian Arabic containing some ancient Egyptian words, what does that prove? Hebrew has Aramaic and Greek words, does that make us Arameans or Greeks? Is there proof that the words weren't inserted later by retro-historians who are attempting to create a historical connection that otherwise doesn't exist? I'll grant you that Hagar, the mother of Ishmael, was Egyptian. But then again, Ishmael married into the family of Esau, the progenitor of Rome. Do Arabs claim then to be Roman as they claim to be Egyptian? Show us some proof, not a "style of hunches". And yes we are direct cultural descendents of the Jews who lived here 3000 years ago, and there are TOMES of evidence for this (not the least of which is the expansive Talmud). Arthur Koestler was a journalist with a crackpot theory that Ashkenazi Jews are largely descendents of a now extinct Mongol tribe that ruled the roost in south Asia centuries ago. That theory has been debunked by ethnogeneologists (look up Kuzars in Wikipedia for proof of my words) and historians and is no longer considered worthy of scholarly pursuit. It's the ethnogenetic equivalent of the "flat earth theory". If your proof of modern Egyptian connections with ancient Egypt are as flaky as Koestler's proof that modern Jews are descendents of the Kuzars, and I suspect it is, then we who oppose your viewpoint rest our case.
