You say that the intifadah has damaged the Israeli economy... in fact this was true at the start in 2001 but not in 2005. The reality is that the Palestinian economy has suffered far more especially some big hotel investments in Bethlemhem and Jericho and casino projects that were generating huge revenue for Palestine totally crashed during year one of the Intifada. Meanwhile, the Israeli economy has actually prospered.... so well that recently the Israeli government has realised that they will no longer require US aid. And that is saying something. Israeli unemployment may still be high but dont forget that much of that is made up of Israeli Arabs who claim unemployment benefit but meanwhile work at the same time in other cash paid jobs. It is also known that other Israeli Arabs as a matter of course, refuse to pay Israeli tax although they benefit from Israeli health care and all the other benefits of living in israel. Meanwhile, lets look at the Israeli economy. The stock market is booming. Israeli technology is one of the most cutting edge and innovative in the world. Israeli hi-tech companies are highly active generating vast income for Israel in hundreds of billions of dollar$. The much needed tourist market has returned with forgeign, typically non-Jewish tourists being replaced by Jewish tourists. Many of whom come from places where anti-semitism has increased (again largely as a result of the Intifada for example; France). Hotels in the summer are booked out by French Jews who would prefer to spend their hard earned €uros in Israel than in the anti-semitic France where they live. Try calling a hotel in Jerusalem or Tel Aviv to get a room.... you wont get one! They are full and making a fortune - ALL SUMMER!! So, the real loser in this has been who? Yes, you guessed it, the Palestinians. The hotels built in Jericho and Bethlemhem have been empty these past four years. The conclusion; Its impossible to have terrorism and violence whilst generating a healthy economy.
