you don't need to say your sorry for someone else. rabbi ovadia is an idiot if he did say these things (i am willing to respect the argument that they were out of context but do know that i personally think that is what he said)
62. Rabbi - Hurricane
Arlene Kramer ,   Israel   (09.07.05)
What drivel - Rabbi's are supposed to be teachers, not spout rubbish.
63. Yusuf is a ravening wolf in sheeps clothing
Sal Azam ,   Chicago   (09.07.05)
The same two thousands year old Sen Hedrin man of Jerusalem. Corrupt, greedy, deceitful and a criminal. He should Know that thou shall not steal and kill according to the ten commandments. But people like him ignore such spiritual and historical facts and have their mantra that is of a criminal behind a label of "righteousness".These people are similiar to the followers of Dathan under the nose of Moses where Jews destroyed corrupt Jews those who were the Golden Calf worshippors. Settlers and Sharon are the same thing, playing psychology with Bush. They will be destroyed just like those Golden Calf worshippors along with their Dathan Sharon.
64. An idiot rant...

What a complete moron this rabbi!

66. The Rabbi
Micha Sloman ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (09.07.05)
This article does not present everything that Rabbi Ovadia said. It merely quotes a few phrases. In order to really understand what the Rabbi actually said, one would need to hear the whole speech. One would also need to understand Hebrew. People should know that journalists often take things out of context and sensationalize them. I hope that the Rabbi did not say these things. If he did it is appalling to say the least. However I wish to point out that he is known universally to be a very, very great scholar to the Torah and Talmud. Perhaps we should think twice before slandering him.

G-D works in intricate ways. Mr Bush and Ms Rice were mightily busy with a plight of nationalists on a couple of dunams of sand. Meanwhile they did NOT pay attention to their homeland (I read about New Orleans submerging in water last year!!!!!!!)
68. RAV OVADIA'S COMMENTS
KEITH DAWID ,   MUMBAI,INDIA   (09.07.05)
THE RESPECTED RABBI SHOULD HAVE EXERCISED HOKHMA -WISDOM IN HIS SPEECH,THE TORAH COMPLETELY FORBIDS LESHON HARA,SINAT KHINAM,AND AS FOR THE HURRICANE BEING A DIVINE SIGN, I DUNNO,THE LORD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS.
69. Concern over a statement. CHRISTIAN SUFFERING IGNORED IN PA
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (09.07.05)
JEWS AND CHRISTIANS MUST HAVE HUMAN RIGHTS. We should not be persecuted because of our belief in Israel's G-D-Creator of the universe. The following is part of an article: http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/620922.html Last update - 04:04 05/09/2005 Muslims torch 14 Christian homes near Ramallah By Arnon Regular, Haaretz Correspondent At least 14 houses belonging to Christian residents of Taybeh, a West Bank village northeast of Ramallah, were torched by Muslims from neighboring Dir Jarir on Sunday, to avenge what they termed the dishonor of a Muslim woman. According to Taybeh residents, several dozen young men from Dir Jarir descended on their village before dawn, torched the homes and destroyed a great deal of other property. "The young men, who were holding Molotov cocktails, threw them at the houses, which began to go up in flames, one after another," said Buthaina Sha'aban, a Taybeh resident and the sister of the town's mayor. "They vandalized parked cars and beat village residents who went out into the streets. Entire families were thrown into the street after their homes were torched. Not much remains of their property. We urge all international, Israeli and Palestinian actors to intervene and protect village residents from the Muslim rage." The attackers also torched stores, a farm and a gas station..."

73. Senility?
Malaika ,   NYC/Tel-Aviv   (09.07.05)
With all due respect, maybe Rabbi Ovadia Yosef is senile. I am not sure how old he is, but I know that he is an old man. This is not the first time he has put his foot in his mouth. I remember one incident some years ago when he said something like men shouldn't talk to women because it's like talking to donkeys. Ovadia Yosef also CLEARLY knows ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about Southern Black folk. If he did, he would know that they are often VERY religious, and avid church goers. Gospel music originated with these same Southern Black folk. And as for them not studying Torah, well, they are by and large NOT JEWISH, and therefore it is not incumbent upon them to study Torah. Studying Torah is not one of the 7 Noahide Laws either. It's like saying they were punished for not keeping Shabbes. So in teh final analysis, from both a religious and secular perspective Rabbi Ovadia Yosef is WAY, WAY off the mark. Unfortunately, as far as I know, Rabbis can't be de-smicha'ed like lawyers can be disbarred.
74. People of NO had nothing to do with the disengagement
Charles B. Hall ,   Bronx, NY   (09.07.05)
In #6, 'So why should Americans be punished for the policies of their leader, many of whom probably never voted for Bush anyway?' New Orleans voted 77.4% Kerry, 21.7% Bush. Maybe it was punished for voting against the President who supported disengagement? Also, almost all Blacks in New Orleans are Christian, not Jewish -- why would non-Jews be expected to study Torah?

At least, the rabbi believes that the Bible is a good idea. He is unaware ,though, of the many devout Christians who suffered and died due to the flood and hurricane. He is ignorant of goodness in others. I wish you and your fiancee a happy life of acceptance and understanding.

Michael, Noble? The betrayal of the Jews who were invited, nay, begged to settle in the Gaza Strip? Have you ever visited Gush Katif? You live in Alicante. Ever faced rockets exploding on your roof? Wait and see the disaster that will befall Israel from the Al Quaeda headquarters soon to be located in theStrip. i guarantee that it will dwarf the Oslo intifida once the big weapons come to the port of Gaza. You loved the Oslo accords, too, didn't you? The height of wise diplomacy, right. Humanitarian, my eye!
77. Sorry for that
ironfelix   (09.07.05)

Read this new.. Yahoo News - Mayor to force evacuation - (7-September-2005) http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050907/ap_on_re_us/hurricane_katrina_55;_ylt=Ap7FzpmO7MDK5VT3H_K_2wobLisB;_ylu=X3oDMTBiMW04NW9mBHNlYwMlJVRPUCUl What a such 'coincidence'.. + 9.000 jews lives destroyed.. - more than 10.000 deaths at USA by H Katrina.. + forced disengagement of Israelis from G-d promised land.. (suggested and supported by USA).. - forced by U.S. military forces.. New Orleans USA citizens 'evacuation'.. + Houses of religious Israelis destroyed.. - Houses, Business, Stores, Churchs.. destroyed by H. Katrina.. Who you will set guilty?.. the wind?.. the low atmospheric pressure?.. even.. G-d?.. Why USA do Not read.. Genesis 12:3, Numbers 24:9, the Bible (also the Torah).. Now.. Who is guilty?!?!?!?.. What about to think about the Harming USA Policy against G-d, against the sons of G-d?!?!?! The problem is not the 'sin'.. the Problem is the 'Negation of Sin'.. the absence of Repentance!!!.. the problem is the avoid of the True!!! Maybe.. USA can invade Afghanistan, or Iraq, or what ever other nation.. with out a ‘Hard G-d punishment’.. but if USA or what ever.. Hurts Israel.. then The Shield, the Guard, the Lord of Israel.. the Almighty will take the revenge! Remember this.. Not my words, but G-d words.. eternal words.. not ‘old superstition’.. If you believe or not this ..is not such a problem.. but the Consequences of harming or blessing Israel will come! To be clear, nobody, neither I, would be happy of ‘punishment’, it is to sorrow, the sin and the consequences of it, coming from a person, president, or nation, are all about sorrow.

The blacks in my country are some of the most spiritual people on this planet and this Rabi should apologize to these good people. This is a good way for Israel to lose good support from Americans.
82. Post # 23
Letue   (09.07.05)
You sound as nutty and full of it as this Rabi. If your "boys" would have actually gotten off of their sorry butts and did something about the NUMEROUS attacks on this country, then perhaps you would have something to whine about. Bush is cleaning up the mess left behind by Clinton. If Clinton had actually taken the time to get Bin Laden instead of playing cigar games with Monica, we'd be in a different situation today. The murdering in Iraq by the way is being done by the so called "Freedom Fighters". The ones who claim to fight for the Iraqi's but kill them instead.

may I just simply ask what the heck is that stuff nowadays in Isreal please? Jerusalem-syndrom or what? Do you think it's some sort of worldwide phenomenom which is in fact based on the ozon stuff? I mean, is it some sort of allergy of the sun? Ozon? Just asking out of curiousity you'll know. Just for the sience in me. Just to try to understand. It must have a meaning you know. But what sort of?
87. WELL SAID, #9
SETTHERECORDSTRAIGHT   (09.07.05)
I DON'T LIKE TO PICK ON RABBIS EITHER. I AM PROBABLY ONE OF THE LAST PEOPLE YOU WILL SEE DOING IT, HOWEVER, WHAT HOWARD FROM THE PACIFIC COAST HAS TO SAY JUST ABOUT SUMS IT UP FOR ME. WHAT A SHAME THAT A RABBI - THAT SO MANY PEOPLE RESPECT AND LOOK UP TO - CAN ARBITRARILY THROW AROUND HIS JUDGEMENT LIKE HE IS PLAYING G-D. HOW UNFAIR OF HIM TO DO SO. HOW CAN A MAN OF HIS STATURE BE SO BLATANTLY UNCOMPASSIONATE? HE IS IN A POSITION TO FIND THE POSITIVE IN A SITUATION LIKE THIS, TO AID IN MAKING SOMETHING GOOD TO COME OUT OF A TRAGEDY OF THOSE PROPORTIONS. BUT INSTEAD, HE ALIENATES PEOPLE.
