2. "Russians Try to Save the Syrians"
In Your article You are referring to Detlev Mehlis as a "judge". As a German citizen who is following up on this affair, I am deeply disturbed about the persistent disinformation contained in this term. If Mr. Mehlis were a judge, he would respond to the German Senate of Magistrates, nobody else. But since he is and always has been only a Prosecutor, he does not respond to an indipenden body of magistrates, but to the German Ministry of Justice, from which he takes orders. As a Prosecutor, Mehlis' task is not to find the truth - that's a court's task - but to sum up evidence against a possible defendant. Whether this evidence holds out in court and the defendant will ultimately be sentenced guilty, is for the court to decide. Never before in history, as far as I can remember, a German prosecutor has submitted names of possible defendants to the press. He is by law obliged to submit them only to the body of judges solliciting the opening of a trial, or to his superior in the German Ministry of Justice.
Sincerely,
Susanne Scheidt

4. Russia trying to save Syrians
Sanctions prove not to work. Why not work on trying to pull Syrian into the world fold by working with them vice counter them. Perhaps the Russian way of doing it is correct. We don't know the real facts and perhaps never will. Are we sure that it is not politically movitaved? The USA needs to stop playing Cop to the world and let someone else police this issue. We know that no matter what happens, justice will not be served.

6. Russia is still our enemy
HOw does it go? My enemy's enemy is my friend? Well, what do you call someone who is friends with ALL your enemies? Russia was trying to "save" Iraq, Russia is trying to "save" Iran, Russia is trying to "save" Syria, Russia is shying away from influencing N. Korea... And many, many more! In each case, for financial gains or percieved role of a political power-broker. Maybe it is time to re-evaluate our warm friendship with this so-called ally and make them worry about saving themselves first rather than taking sides of destabilizing world regimes. We need allies who share our vision of making this world a better place and Russia never has been or will be one of those allies - take it from the Russian immigrant

7. Russia and Syria
Russia and Syria have their fates written in the bible. Damascus will be utterly destroyed and will never be inhabited again. Russia will meet her fate in the mountains of Israel when she and the Muslims come against Israel. Russia is getting ready for destiny.

8. Russia
Why would any American wish to make Russia the enemy? The cold war victory was a victory in name only as the reality is very different. Russia maintains an very advanced military complex, state of the art weapons, and worst of all nuclear missiles capiable of over-wealming any abm capibility that the US is developing.
Russia have not been the best of friends true. The US has not been the best friend to Russia either so its tit for tat in a lot of cases.
Still if Russia was your enemy Iraq would have had far more advanced weapons to fight you with.

9. I hold very few illusions when it comes to Russians
They have trained and armed about every terrorist group that exists in the world. They continue to be an "evil empire" with or without communism.

10. "russian" respond
USA already has shown what a better place it made of Iraq. You have no idea what is war because you have never had it on your territory. I recommend you to go to Iraq (or Afganistan) and enjoy events happening there.
If you want the whole arabian (and not only) world hate USA, you can support this politics as long as you wish. But don't be surprized when terrorists will appear in your own country in response to action of you governments...

Daniel, as a retired U.S.military person who had access to tons of intelligence on Russian military equipment, I have to tell you...
You are horribly mistaken on how advanced their war machine was.
They have ALWAYS been MANY YEARS behind U.S. technology.
I don't know where you got your information from, but it's waaaaay off.

12. its time to go
It is time that a democracy takes place in Syria , we cant accept a 1960's type of dictatorship in neighboring Syria anymore. the international community should do everything possible for a change of regime even if a small war could occur.
