1. they will agree a yellow maguen david?
PAUL ,   PARIS   (11.08.05)
tHE RED CROSS , WAS THE ACCOMPLICE OF THE NAZIS ,is still impregnated of so much anti-judaism,which it tries to impose to this humiliation....don't forget:Nobel medecine..Jews 51- Arabs 0 (sefr..)
2. christians can use a red cross, muslims a red crescent
(11.08.05)
But we cant use a red magen david? What rubbish is this??????
3. Magen David Adom
Chana ,   Ramat Yishay, Israel   (11.08.05)
Does anyone else find this extremely insulting? I mean, I'm all for MDA's being part of the international organization, but at the price of hiding who they really are? Only if the Christians give up their cross and the Muslims their crescent will this be a fair proposal.
4. Yeah, it's insulting and stupid
Howard ,   Pacific Coast, USA   (11.09.05)
[shrugs] What do you expect from the international community? Justice? Basic Fairness? Wisdom? Religious freedom? Sanity? The American Red Cross is to be commended for taking a stand against bigotry and anti-Semitism, whether doing the right thing was fashionable or not. Same for anyone else who fought for Israel's right to be included in the world. For the rest -- screw 'em.
5. the red cross
(11.09.05)
Is not a christian crosss- though the muslim crescent is- a relgious symbol. I say ban the muslim and jew symbols-
6. Is it Christian?
Emily ,   Australia   (11.09.05)
Is the red cross a Christian symbol? It has a different shape from the normal one. In my opinion it would be best not to use any religious symbol or national symbol.
7. seal of solomon or david shield
ygalg ,   israel, batyam   (11.09.05)
symbol of all monotheistic faiths It’s a symbol of kingdom of David It is also significant for Christians through Jesus who is claim to be of lineage of david And for Islam through Solomon himself
8. Support the proposal ….
Russell Cohen ,   JNB (ZA)   (11.09.05)
Please see the links below for the background to the Red Crystal proposals. Telegraph | News | Neutral crystal symbol may join traditional Red Cross emblems http://news.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2005/09/20/wred20.xml Reuters AlertNet - Third emblem seen likely for Red Cross/Red Crescent http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L08525511.htm Although I’ve never really understood the objections to the MDA’s use of the red Shield of David as its emblem, I think the proposal should enjoy our support.
9. The Start5 of a one state solution?
NCjews ,   NC USA   (11.09.05)
Give up the star and its the beginning of turning Israel into a one-state solution. In other words, Israel ceases to exist as a Jewish nation and becomes just another arab country. What BS. Keep the STAR!
10. RE: red crystal
faleen ,   us   (11.09.05)
I am sorry but i still dont quite understand why Israel has to change its logo in order to appease the red cross. I live in the US and wouldnt give the red cross 2 cents since i feel firstly that they are certainly a money making corporation and certainly not the CHARITABLE group they make themselves out to be. I give generously to Magen David Adom. But why we as Jews have to change a symbol to make them happy is disgusting. Personaly i dont like seeing the crescent and star on the arab ambulances and feel that they should possibly be changed to something in red, perhaps a picture of a terrorist blowing himself up along with thousands of innocents.
11. Symbol
J K ,   NYC, USA   (11.09.05)
If you dont like the symbol change being foisted on us, donate to Magen David Adom instead of the Red Cross. I'm not saying the Red Cross does no good...they do tremendous good, but what other way does one have to 'force' them to alter their policies other than witholding funds? Let me know when they are going to stick the Budda in the 'crystal' What a joke.
12. Red Cross originally not a religious symbol
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (11.14.05)
If I remember my history correctly, the symbol of the Red Cross was chosen because it was a reverse of the Swiss flag. Only later did the religious connections come to play. That being said, recognize the Star of David, or creat a totally secular symbol.
13. Progress
Alan ,   USA   (12.14.05)
What a shame that people cannot embrace progress. Thanks to the IRC, the American Red Cross and the MDA for their leadership. And to those of you that cannot be pleased with progress I only hope that you take time to learn more about the true origins of the Red Cross symbols and their intent/purpose.
