There is no question that Israel lost its autonomy and strong standing by relinquishing its own self interest when dealing with the US. While cooperation is always in order on things of mutual interest, it is never in a country's interest to acquiese to demands that are against their national interest. In addition, once a country loses its autonomy they are looked upon as a doormat and will be treated accordingly. With the US and Israel that is especially true since the Arabist State Dept will do everything to destroy Israel, of course in a "diplomatic" way.

When the US sos'd Israel that they needed some arms for our campaign in Iraq, Israel did not hesitate one minute. Five days later, US had what they needed with instructions on how to use it. Israel has to know that it is not a banana republic. The US has to understand that Israel does not have to do its bidding even when it is against Israel's security needs and best interests. US does not expect Egypt to follow lock step as it certainly doesn;t and US gives it almost as much money as it does Israel and arms besides. And of course US gives the Palestinians everything and they don;t do anything in return

We should be grateful for any help that America has given Israel. However, let us not be under any illusions, America always puts its own interests first. It extends help to other countries because it is in America’s interest to do so. It is tragic that American soldiers are dying in Iraq. However America didn’t send its troops there for altruistic reasons. Frankly I believe that Israel should not take economic help from America. We Jews are a people who are meant to dwell alone according to the Torah. Let us stand on our own feet and put our trust in G-d who gave us this Land as an everlasting possession.
