1. What do you expect from Saudi Gammorah.
David Landman ,   Natick, USA   (11.15.05)
The land of the wicked and greatest threat to the world since Nazi Germany. They produce oil and hatred and not much else. So many people, so much potential for good. What a waste.
2. The truth will out
Christopher ,   BOSTON MASS USA   (11.15.05)
Why would anyone be surprised. This is what Islam has become:a religion of hatred violence intolerance and disbelief. They have "religioned" themselves back to other arenas- where the likes of Hitler, Caligula, Idi Amin, and bin Laden are cheered as heroes and Mohatma Ghandi would be executed for heresy.
3. 750?
Yoaz Carmi ,   tampa usa   (11.15.05)
750 lashes? his body will no longer exist it will be in shreads!
4. saudis,wahabits
gil ,   ashkelon   (11.15.05)
the worst enemy of Islam is truth.Saudi's mosquees building policy in remote areas around the world,is as lethal terrorism weapon as ben Laden killers bombs. In uk, it is proven mosquees are not worship place, but rather schools of terrorism.
5. I'm shocked....just shocked
Newt   (11.15.05)
What will the Arab world say about this? Absolutely nothing, they will be too busy condemning Israel for daring to be Jewish. This includes you Palestinians sympathizers as well.
6. I expect fromSaudis no less than from Israelis
AK   (11.15.05)
Unfortunately, others don't share my point of view. Will we see "moderate" muslims out there on the streets of the World protesting this anti-Semitic outrage? For anti-Semitic it is, even if the teacher himself is a Muslim. Waiting for Ms Muslimas, WH and other "enlighten" Muslims to speak up and organize a demonstration in protest.
7. Still better than what Gaza evictees got.
Yonatan ,   Los Angeles   (11.15.05)
8. Your oil will be gone one day
Logic ,   Israel   (11.15.05)
Join the modern world or face the dustbin of history.
9. why are you shocked?
yehuda ,   new york   (11.15.05)
1) what school did you go to, and what "islam is a religion of peace and tolerance" were you taught? Perhaps you should realize that you were totally mislead! 2) why do you ask "what will the arab world say about this"? why didn't you realize that the arab world's response will be EXACTLY the same as the EU, UN and Isreali leftists, from the "ostrich respone" to support? What planet have you been living on that you say "I'm shocked...just shocked" when it;s just "business as ususal"!
10. Typical
David` ,   New York, New York   (11.15.05)
Saudi Arabia is our (U.S.) "ally"? This reaction (the punishment of the teacher) seems so typical from a culture of honor killings, sanctioned domestic violence, etc. From day one of the Iraq war I have been saying we hit the wrong country. If we want to promote democracy and freedom in the middle east, we should start with the obvious.
11. NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
SARAH ,   CROSSVILLE, TN. USA   (11.15.05)
Why is this practice allowed to go on? Why doesn't someone from the UN or some World power step in and say "NO! YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO DO THIS!" I cannot understand why this is being allowed to continue. How would they feel is we flogged and improsoned anyone who was Islamic and praised Islams? I can tell you how they would feel?? They would raise all kinds of hell until someone did something about it!! And yet, here we sit, and do nothing allowing this insane treatment to continue.
12. And I suppose this sentence presents Islam in a GOOD way...
Tahl ,   Israel   (11.16.05)
In this outrageous, barbaric sentencing, Saudi Arabia only underscored the truth it was attempting to silence: how Islam is backward, primitive religion - representing intolerance and violence, glorifying martyrs and murder. Clearly not all Muslims are like that, but the undisputable fact is - this sort of barbaric sentencing can only come in an Islamic country. Imagine the huge public outcry that such a sentencing would unleash, had it been an Israeli court sentencing someone for such punishment., for the sole "crime" of applauding Muslims. Imagine how many riots, international condemnations, burnt Israeli flags, diplomatic reproachments, and maybe a renewed intifada we would have to endure. Saudi Arabia, on the other hand, is excused. The Arab world would be careless about this, the western world would barely say a few obligatory reproachments, give a slap on the wrist, and forget about it. Hypocricy and double-standard at their best. Besides - can anyone give me a real answer to this? I thought Arab countries were only against the "zionist entity", weren't they? I thought their leaders, in an attempt to appear "civilized" internationally, made a clear distinction that they are not against Jews as people, but "only" against the creation of Israel. Now the cat's finally out of the hat. In a way, I'm glad though - this is yet another reminder to the incorrigible leftists from within, about what sort of people we are, versus what sort of people we're dealing with.
13. Imagine
Ram ,   London   (11.16.05)
Just imagine this was an Israeli teacher expressing his views and ended up with this sentence! The US would send G-d knows what threats, the UK's BBC and other media would spend hours and tons of ink expressing their disgust. The Europeans will add to that and the Arabs would join the chorus. Last of all, Racel Corrie's lot would raise the roof and probably wrap themself around the teacher. But this is Saudi Arabia with the petrodollars, which means that all the greats of the human rights' world turn to blind eunuchs. What a wonderful and righteous world we live in!
14. Re: #13
RON ,   UK   (11.16.05)
What about the Israeli nuclear Power Dr.Ram, and what about the countless UN resoluations against Israel, these things are not important in your mind. This teacher most likely does not know what he is doing since no honest person could justify stealing other lands and control them by force. My friend from Gaza was studying in the West Bank, Israel refused to give him permision to pursue his study over there-for no reason, do U think this is a nice occupation U'd like to be proud off...I do not think so...
15. He's Lucky He Didn't Get the Death Penalty
Seth ,   Washington, DC   (11.16.05)
It serves him right. Next time he'll think twice about saying positive things about Jews.
16. threat to world peace
Sheik Yur Bouti ,   Eurabia   (11.16.05)
This just proves what every well-informed person already knows. These people are extremely primitive who only understand the language of cruelty and violence as opposed to reason. Imagine this nation (along with Libya, Syria, Iraq, Iran, and the list goes on.....) with an atom bomb. No wonder Israel feels threatened.
17. SAUDIS SPREAD HATE THROUGH U.S. MOSQUES
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (11.16.05)
Part of article from: http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=42603 GLOBAL JIHAD Report: Saudis spread hate through U.S. mosques Propaganda against Jews, Christians 'mainstreamed within our borders' January 29, 2005 The 89-page report by Freedom House's Center for Religious Freedom, "Saudi Publications on Hate Ideology Fill American Mosques," concludes the Saudi government propaganda examined reflects a "totalitarian ideology of hatred that can incite to violence." * Various Saudi government publications gathered for the study, most of which are in Arabic, assert it is a religious obligation for Muslims to hate Christians and Jews... * The documents stress that when Muslims are in the lands of the unbelievers, they must behave as if on a mission behind enemy lines. Either they are there to acquire new knowledge and make money to be later employed in the jihad against the infidels, or they are there to proselytize the infidels until at least some convert to Islam..." U.S. leaders declare Saudi Arabia is America's friend and a key ally in the war on terror. As Saudi Arabia incites to hate and jihad against America's Christians and Jews, the U.S. government defining Saudi Arabia as America's friend, strongly indicates the American people have a very grim future ahead of them.
18. ynet has gone to a new low
Mark ,   Canada   (11.16.05)
Every time I say that articles here are the lowest level of professionalism and authenticity, ynet editors manage to bring some thing more disgusting. First; what is the purpose of this article? To ignite hatred or spread lies? So much for coexistence or tolerance advocating. Second, the lashing is not for "praising Jews". It is for going out of way to prevent the students from performing their religious duties. I have lived in Saudi Arabia and they give people time to pray during work hours, and NO it is not imposed on every one. This person used his power to prevent students from praying. The punishment for that is lashing. I suppose that offends ynet editors and decided to slip the "praising Jews!” Imagine some one trying to prevent Jewish people from praying any where in the world, what a big crime that is. Now this talk back will not be published for obvious reasons, it is for Mr. Ynet to think about it.
19. This is a death sentence by slow beating...
Dan ,   Nashville, TN   (11.16.05)
It is a crime against humanity. It is also a crime against free speech, freedom of thought, and freedom of religion, but who cares about those things anymore?
20. His "Crime" is that he opposes **TERRORISM**
Howard ,   Pacific Coast, USA   (11.16.05)
Here are the details; the article makes it clear that his "crime" was that HE OPPOSES **TERRORISM**: http://www.arabnews.com/?page=1§ion=0&article=73171&d=14&m=11&y=2005&pix=kingdom.jpg&category=Kingdom Keep this in mind next time you hear that Saudi Arabia is supposedly "achieving progress toward democracy" or "achieving progress in the war against terror." #11: You think THIS is bad? A Saudi woman who speaks out against her abusive husband is typically sent back to him, with no right of appeal. 750 lashes is nothing.
21. #13 -- Ram
AK   (11.16.05)
You are absolutely right, but it is not only Saudi Petrodollars at work. It is also the "Arab" chic among the elites. The intellectual and media "herds" are by now incapable of expressing any morally valid views since that would require individual courage they no longer possess. So they move with the herd. They attack Israel, in stead -- this is safe, immoral? Yes, but safe and in vogue too.
22. Just discusting!!!!
Isac ,   Florida   (11.16.05)
Where is the outcry of his muslim brothers and sisters??!! Where is Human Rights Watch??!! Where is the State Deopartment, the White House, the EU and the "democratic" arab contries leadership??!! Where is the ACLU??!! Where are the voices of all those left wingers who called Bush a terrorist??!! Incredible but true! Screw the Saudi government!!!!
23. It's called "Sarcasm" Yehuda
Newt   (11.16.05)
That's exactly what my response was....sarcasm. Look the word up in the dictionary.
24. 750 lashes
richard Hitchings ,   methil   (11.16.05)
25. What nonsense! This story is highly exaggerated!
Miss Muslima ,   London England UK   (11.16.05)
Talk about lying, spin, and twisting words out of all recognition! This man was a thorn in the side of the authorities for a number of reasons, and i can't imagine why this article is giving importance to him saying "jews were right" Get real people, (those that believe this) that you swallow this sort of garbage shows what a pitifully small IQ you have been unblessed with!
26. #25, #18 & others
Howard ,   Pacific Coast, USA   (11.16.05)
This story was written by Arab reporters in Saudi Arabia and distributed by Reuters. It appears in a number of newspapers around the world. It was not written by YNet. The story leaves out information that makes this incident even more inexplicable and disgusting (though I admit that is a difficult thing to do). For more information, see also #20. If you have additional information to contribute, then post it rather than just accusing YNet of lying.
27. Miss Muslima = Princess of Irony
Ezra ,   USA   (11.16.05)
Sweety, do you own a mirror?
28. Please know about something before judjing it
Muslim ,   Palestine   (11.16.05)
My heart gets torn a part when people think bad about islam. This is my modest attempt to help people understand my religion "ISLAM". http://www.islam-guide.com/ may Allah guide us to truth.
29. Its OK, he is a masochist, he will enjoy it.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Santa Monica, CA   (11.16.05)
Just voluntarily living in soody arabia makes you a masocist. Maybe "miss muslima" will give him the lashes and then tend to his wounds week after week, taking care of her muslim "brother" so she can guide him back to the illuminated path of "righteous hatred" of Jews.
30. #18, 25
Tahl ,   Israel   (11.16.05)
18 - the purpose of this article is very simple: to bring the truth out to the open. Or is this noble goal only legitimate when the Israelis are the "villains"? What makes you so sure ynet is wrong here? It was actually quoting Reuters, a very respected news agency, which quoted a Saudi newspaper. I wonder if it was a story regarding Israel's violence toward Palestinians - would you still declare "ynet has gone to a new low", and that the purpose of this article is "ignite hatred or spread lies"? Be honest now! 25 - "Lying"? "Spin"? "Twisting words"? "pitifully small IQ"? This story is taken from Reuters, and from a Saudi newspaper! Do you have a reading comprehension problem? You admit yourself, that this man was "only" a thorn in the side of the authorities. And why? For such bizarre reasons as promoting free thinking instead of blind religious obedience, making people think before they pray, and... praising the heretic Jews. So - let's tenderize his flesh with 750 lashes. Is that legitimate in your eyes? Compare this to Israel's treatment to a much bigger thorn - Mordechai Vanunu, who clearly caused a hell of a lot more damage. For all the damage he's done, the maggot wasn't touched in jail. Besides, if it was Israel who whipped someone for praising Muslims, would you still call this "lying, spin, twisted words"?...
