Dear Palestinian Bethlehemite, Why are you telling us who to vote for? I could tell you not to vote Hamas but Fatah as well. In truth Sharon and Bibi have given you more than anyone in Labour. For Israelis, I wonder when the euphoria wears off, and the public realise how corrupt Sharon really is, will he plummet in the polls. Let's hope that like Peres, he wins in the polls but not in the election.

The Sderot conference is yet another attempt by Uzzie Dayan to launch his political career at the expense of a normal and rational public disclosure. Sharon is indeed corrupt, but that fact is independent of the public's perception. What is not helpful is having an interested party use the corruption issue solely for personal gain. That too is a corruption of the truth.

I didn't notice the first time I read this that Dayan's clique claim that Yitzchak Herzog, who escaped going the same way a Omri for the same offense only by refusing to cooperate with the police. If Omri is corrupt for being caught and convicted and Herzog clean because he compounded his violations of the campaign law with the chutzpah of refusing to cooperate in the investigation, then the definition of "clean" and "dirty" by the Sderot carpet-baggers is pecular indeed. Of course quoting a felon like Liora Glatt-Berkovich on corruption is also a bit unusual.

Notwithstanding the "perception" that Sharon and family are corrupt and may have even committed criminal acts, the polls indicate that Sharon will win the coming election "hands down".One of the reasons that corruption continues on a endemic scale, is that the perpetrators sense that the public will tolerate it and will continue to send these same politicians to the knesset time and again. Clearly, we deserve what we get and should stop whining about corruption in government, national and local. By displaying our preferences at the ballot box, we have brought the consequences of corruption upon ourselves and upon the victims of poverty and unemployment. Congratulations Israel for living up to the estimation that we are "a shitty little country".
