Maybe they wanted to see if the IDF had fallen asleep?

The IDF heads are babbling again that they "know how" to respond to attacks. Who cares what they know how to do if they don't do it? What excuse is there not to respond, that the PA is in the middle of elections? What are they waiting for, for a family to get killed? An absolute disgrace!

Israel is sending the wrong messages to our neighbors. When our army does not respond, it is interperated as a sign of weakness, disregarding any political thoughts to the contrary. Also a sign of weakness that we sent to the Hizbullah was when we rushed to return the 4 dead terrorsits.

This nonsense is intended to achieve, what exactly? Perhaps Gaza is too boring without Israelis around, and they are begging for Israel to come back? ("Please, come back," the terrorists cry, "so we don't have to move on and GET A LIFE!") Perhaps Gaza doesn't feel like home without mindless terror attacks and Israeli retaliations? ("Please, shoot at us," the terrorists cry; "we can't bear to take responsibility for our own messes! We need an excuse for our failures!") Or perhaps Syria is paying these merecenaries to carry out this kind of pointless violence. Yeah, that's happening anyway. And, of course, pointless, stupid violence is the whole point of Islamic Jihad and the rest, isn't it? The terrorists, who don't have lives themselves, have to keep everyone else on both sides of the line miserable and full of anger so that they can be "heroes" to deluded masses who would otherwise see that these guys are simply losers -- street thugs and sociopathic cretins.

According to the radio news it was a Katusha that damaged the house, not a Qassam. If this is true, it represents a heightening of the capability of the militias in Gaza. This threat, which was forecasted by many opponents of the disengagement but was ignored by Sharon and his coterie in the Likud as was, will not be deterred by firing a few shells into an empty field.

The Paelstinians send rockets into Israeli towns, and the Israelis respond by punching holes in open fields. Is this some type of exotic defensive warfare used in the Middle East that I don't understand?
