I am much more right leaning than you and wish there could be a military strike but everything I know on the subject points to the theory that this is impossible because Israel would need to kill many many Iranian civilians in order to do so and would start a war that would be another united Arab (and Persian) war against Israel. I think if there were a way to do it, Israel would have done it long ago. Iran is probably 6 months away from nuclear capability. The only way to stop it is International action (not diplomacy). Otherwise, Israel will need to rely on the Sting "If the Russians Love Their Children Too" mutually assured destruction concept for deterrence with Israel's second strike capacity from submarines. Still, madmen who will commit suicide bombings with a nuclear weapon make it scary to rely on MAD for deterrence.

Russell, I'm not left-wing or right-wing or any wing. I am always in favor of pacific solutions over hot-headed hatred and confrontation. But I also recognize danger and impossibility of conciliation when I see it. Doing an Osirak doesn't necessarily entail aerial bombardment. There are other feasible ways, which would avoid excessive civilian casualties. But that is for the military to devise and execute. I have full confidence in them.

think practical. attacking iran will cost Israel alot. it`s not like you can bomb them and then they wont retaliate. any attck on iran will have a response and israel has more to lose than iran. iran can harm israel in everal ways. direct military retaliation, terrorism by Pals. and by minipulating other anti-jew muslems and supporting other arab nations to target israel and the list goes on. the country has more soldures that the entire israeli population for god sakes. not a very smart move on israeli part. there are other more practical options like push for regime change in iran than just to bomb bomb!

Do you think Iran will use a nuclear bomb on Israel when they have it ready? If your answer is "yes",why wait to take the factory out?? It may upset the Muslims and UN,EU,etc...but they are already upset .If you wait too long,the fall-out from THEIR radioactive material will be a problem.I understand they have several sites,but take out what you can at this time.
