He's trying to create an atmosphere in which people discuss the destruction of the state of Israel, by whatever means. The disengagement from Gaza created an atmosphere in which the dialogue occurring around the world was very much centered on two states, side by side, in peace and security. (I'm not talking about the present reality; I am talking about ongoing world opinion). It marked a tectonic shift in the dialog about the situation, in which Muslim countries could even discuss recognizing Israel. This scared the living **** out of the hard-liners in Iran, who saw themselves becoming increasingly isolated and vulnerable in an atmosphere of growing pragmatism. Ahmadinejad is trying to rally the troops, so to speak, and revert the dialog back to the same tired old hate-filled BS. There are 3 things that the world powers can do in response: 1. Ignore it 2. Talk about it but not take severe action 3. Take severe diplomatic, economic and even more forceful action against Iran ASAP. The first would do NO good, because the Muslim world will NOT ignore it. The second will do NO good, because then the strategy succeeds in restarting the BS. The only sane reaction by anyone who has even the least desire for a peaceful middle east is #3. NOTE: Iran's nuclear weapons program is intended to prevent the US from replacing the Iranian regime. If Israel gave up nuclear weapons, Iran would NOT do the same.

Iran's president Ahmadinejad's recent rantings and obvious deficiencies in common facts reminds me of another leader, our own uncurious George Dubya. Did I miss the meeting where they dumbed down the standard for national leaders? This is a most unsettling trend.

Richard and Jeff, I think you are right. My guess is Iran wants Israel to attack so that it is justified in whiping Israel off the map. He is taunting us, trying to get us to attack. This is one threat we are better off ignoring. 1) Iran wants to liberate Palestine, nuking Israel will destroy Palestine too. Therefore it is doubtful Iran will launch a first strike. 2)Iran knows what Israel's response will be. Suicide might be their business, it is however not their goal. 3)Iran is prepaired for an attack. Osirak will not be repeated. An Israeli failure will weaken our deterrence and invite war. 4)Ahmadinejad sounds so sure of himself, He might have something up his sleeve. An Israeli attack on Iran's nuclear installations might trigger a devestating nuclear response. 5)Iran already has the missiles. 6)N-Korea already has the bomb. I suspect Iran won't simply launch a missile and destroy millions of Palestinians as a sacrifice for getting rid of Israel. However as a response to an Israeli attack, they might do it anyway. See what happens. -If we don't attack but continue to develop our anti-missile capabilities Iran's Nuclear weapons will be useless. We dont exactly know the state of these capabilities. I do know Europe has none and I think Iran needs these weapons in order to win Europe for Islam. My guess is Iran is looking beyond Iraq and Israel to Europe planning to launch a major terrorist offensive for which they need nuclear protection if they want to protect themselves from Western intervention or sanctions. Israel has nuclear protection and knows how to deal with a terrorist onslaught. The US is too far away. Europe is the weakest link.

There's lots of recreational activities, nice outdoors, beautiful parks, peaceful environment, and lots of oil. I think moving the jews to alaska would be the best solution for the middle east problem, and let the araboids live in peace, or kill each other!

I am glad that this leader is direct and honest. Other leaders claim they want peace but really want to destroy Israel as much as Iran wants to. He is blunt and I admire any leader even if very very evil that is 100% honest.. Does anyone agree with me? Israel needs an honest leader?
