Haven't you noticed that the only movies, books etc that are nominated by foreign organizations are the ones that sell self hatred about Jews, Israel and can be used by Jew bashers and anti-semites. Be proub that you join the ranks of foolish jews who sell them selves off to achieve recognition from tose that hate us the most. The movie is about how cool it is to blow us up. And because we don’t feel so cool about it we are not progressive? Give me a break.

the only israeli movies or documentaries that we can watch on french TV ( Arte for example) are made by self hating jews that know perfectly that it sells well to spit on Israel, and many times they get subsidies. We only know the Amira Hass from Haaretz and Co . We have never seen something interesting about Israel, his hitech, agriculture,medecine and the nice sightseeings .

I think Israeli's have seen more than enough terror - one attack is more than enough - so why would we rush to see the blood on the screen when we wash it off our streets on a regular basis. Harel, to say you are insensitive would be stating the obvious.

Sadly, I think the film is doing better in the US because the US is further removed from the situation that Israel is. The US also harbors other gropups that while they may not directly support the bombers, they support the destruction of Israel.

So, American Jews like this movie because they're so "progressive?" It's easy to be heroic sitting in a movie theater. These same people would be crapping in their pants if they had to live in Israel.

Of course, it is an interesting subject and one that the world was hungry for- the perspective of those committing suicide bombing- THE WHY and what are they so in despair and pain to do such a horrid act? What is the state of mind and last thoughts? and how can they justify it. ( and no I dont think suicide bombing of innocentsis ever justified- the qusetion, then is Who is innocent or not innocent , to them ?- which is another issue-) But that said- the Israelis I have noticed, on this board, anyway, for the most part do not want to dig into the part they play in helping to inspire this conflict or how ,for every action there is a a reaction- a war doesnt exist on its own- with one side- it needs an enemy- and if no one was an enemy- or racist - or seperating- there would be no war.

If any of these film critics had a child sexually abused and then cut to pieces or a wife raped and mutilated, I wonder if they'd be so willing to embrace a movie about pedophiles or rapists? Might I also refer you to the PLO and Hamas charters which detail their objective vis-a-vis Istrael? i dont get it ,,,i consider my-self to be open minded but i really dont understand what this type of movie could teach me (havent seen the movie) but will it help me understand the kind of person that kills in this way am i supposed to have some respect for him because he also kills him self, sorry his choice not his victims any way i understand he is also told that 70 virgins are waiting for him. are we supposed to expect that if a loved one is killed or injured in a bombing we will have an easy time because he was making a polictical statement, i dont think so, every time there is a terror attack israel retaliaets and the innocent people of palistine suffer walls are being built gates closed so who wins oh yeh i forgot the 70 virgins

The reason the film is unpopular with the Israeli public is that they know the subject matter too well to be misled. The film abuses its artistic license in order to develop an undeserved sympathy with the suicide bomber. For example, the bomber refrains from blowing up civilians at a bus stop, and also refrains from getting on a bus with a child. Instead he blows up a bus in downtown Tel Aviv 90% occupied by soldiers in uniform. This was unrealistic. The vast majority of the victims are civilians including children, elderly, and frequently Arabs who never have and never will serve in the military. Like George Khoury who was shot and killed because he looked like a Jew. Similarly, one of the factors motivating the suicide bomber in the film was that his father was executed as a "collaborator." No explanation was given how it was determined that his father was a collaborator, what he did to deserve that description, or how or why he was executed. The film's producer apparently didn't want the distraction of this very telling aspect of the terrorist society.

Unbelievable. It won the Best Foreign Language Film. What even drives me more insane are the comments over at IMDB, the movie site. Clearly, the US public loves this movie because of Arab propoganda against Jews. The main issue of Arab poverty in the WB and Gaza being blamed on Israel when their own leaders continue to pillage from them, the UN does nothing to manage their funding and 22 Arab countries do nothing. But of course, blame Israel. They HAVE to keep them in poverty for the mere fact of blaming Israel and no one sees it. What a crying shame.

I don't have to. I won't see Munich either and will be hard pressed to watch another Spielberg film.

So, we're told it's The Best Foreign Language Film. Most people here will believe it. The news and Hollywood and most reviewers have a very slanted view and agenda when it comes to jews and Israel. It doesn't help that CAIR, et al do such a good job getting their message across. But then they have the ear of most of the media. I'd like to see and hear more from the Israeli point of view - G-d knows we hear and see a lot from the Palestinian point of view.

Ignore the stupid fact that 70 virgins are waiting for them. Dig and try to understand the cause of their suffering and why they are willing to give up their lives for that. The story of Islamic terrorism can be enjoyed onscreen by those who are not touched by it.
