2. an other exemple......!!!
First, why does a territory of a few hundred square kilometers need SEVERAL law and order organisations?
Second, why is is so difficult to stop feudal and tribal fighting ?
Answers :
1) Islamic organisations or movements are unable to deal with law and order
2) Mahmoud Abbas unwilling to clean up shop for fear of being physically eliminated
3)non existing arm control by authorities
4) Foreign interferences in the strip
5)Western powers unable to clearly see and understand what is really going on....
All these are ingredients for civilian unrest in the short time.

4. hail George, Condi, and Arik!
Really know what they're doing, don't they? A few months ago the Israeli army was guarding this border. They didn't stop all the smuggling, but a lot of it. NOw, George, Condi, and Arik have fixed the situation just fine, haven't they.

5. #1 Indeed George Rice and Condi Bush are
part and parcel of this whole problem!
History will look back and recall how it was possible that in this supposed war on terror they dealt so many double standards to their ally Israel, pushing them into an impossible corner with all kinds of threats while at the same time falling all over themselves in an effort to whitewash the Palestinian people and their impotent terrorist leaders. (go to whitehouse website and read transcripts of Abbas visits for they are shameful) This is what a failed war in Iraq (which did not need to fail) gets us in Israel. Appeasement to the rest of the world by the White House while knifing Israel in the back.
History will ask why to this sort of behavior and not look kindly on them for this dishonesty. One thing for sure this is a fact if little or any solace.

6. I agree with #2
hamas and the rest of the militant factions have to be forced to disarm and Mahmoud Abbas needs to resign because he can not do his job. I want Dahalan in power, I think he'll be capable to take control over the security branches of the PA and disarm hamas and the islamic jihad. Mahmoud Abbas does not want to jeprodize his position, we need a leader with balls, enough is enough.

What are you talking about, man??? What smuggling? The article only said that the Palestinian police had detained a Palestinian on suspicion of drugs smuggling. What on earth does that have to do with Dr. Sharon or even those two jerks you mention??

Sometimes I agree with you but sometimes you remind me of the guy from the Naked Gun with a huge smoking wrekage behind him. He's on the bullhorn directing people away, shoting, 'Theres nothing to see here. Please disperse'.
This agreement hasnt worked out the way it was intended, and ask yourself a question....do you really think there are suddenly no more smuggling tunnels underneath the Rafah border over there? There is no NO ONE stopping them from being dug....why go through the crossing when you can go under it. Its not like there is anyone stopping it now. Use a little sense, man. This agreement has only worsened the security situation.

I totally agree with you.
I'm originally from Western Europe and actually we can't blame the Europeans that they don't understand....its a culture thing I guess, difficult to understand the Arab mentality and why they are still so primitive. Europeans are getting tired of the Middle Eastern conflict...They are stuck with their own Arab population that they cant throw them out anymore....and prefer to deal with their intern "muslim" problems then to put their energy in the middle East, which in their eyes won't change in the near future

15. #s 9/10, 13
#9/10: I didn't seek to polemicize about the Disengagement. I asked you what I thought was a simple question--obviously not simple enough so let's try again: what does the apprehension of a suspected drug smuggler, on an international border which is not ours, have to do with any of the three people you mention???
As for HaAretz, I'll get back to you as I haven't had a chance to see it yet. And for the record, the "wing" of people does not concern me in the slightest. Anyone who defines themselves as this-wing or that-wing is, AFAIC, immature to say the least. I'm not left-wing or right or center or anything; I try to inform myself on all issues and reach an opinion pursuantly.
#13: The agreement has actually worked out pretty well, notwithstanding a few hitches. As far as the tunnels, I don't know and, frankly, neither do you. And anyway, the Aza-Egypt border has nothing to do with us and it's quite silly to pretend or insist otherwise. Just as we have no say in who brings what into Lebanon to fire at Israel, it's wishful thinking that we should have a say on who brings what into Aza to fire on Israel. Let's be real.

16. hey, Steiner
It is a known fact that the first month the crossing opened under the watchful eyes of Egypt, EU, and US that 10s of tons of military equipment were transfer from the Sinai to Aza. They have also transfer huge amount of other contraband to fund their operations. High level terrorists are going back and forth between Egypt and Aza.
This had lead the Palestinian’s to complete a major upgrade to their missile program thanks to the help of local Al Qaeda, Hezbollah and Tehran agents.
I come from the school of “Not One Inch” and would never agree to succeed any land or control to any foreign power. However, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that you can’t disengage without making any concrete plans and goals for peace. We must hold the Palestinians responsible for their inactions. We should have learned from the 10 other agreements with PA, that they are incapable and don’t want to make real peace with us.
We have not had a week or even one day without some sort of intelligence about a possible terrorists attack. There are thousands of near misses that don’t make it to the press.

17. #15 - a little naive
Steiner:
Thats actually a little naive. You are correct, I dont have current firsthand knowledge of any tunnels under the border now, What do I have in my favor? Well:
A) They were there before this agreement
B) Do you honestly believe the IDF found them all?
C) If now, everything going through is being monitored by the EU/Palestinians, if I am a militant group and I wanted to sneak someone (terrorists) or something (ordinance) that might not make it though the border crossing otherwise, whats my other option?
Hmm....we can use what we have been using all along. To think otherwise is optimistic. I suppose in your simplified explanation its working, but if you think its really "working"", I am glad you arent in charge of anything

The Europeans along with the Israel, US, Russian and UN are to blame for this.
They must realize that by not holding the PA accountable to any type peace agreement. Has lead to increase terrorist acts. They see peace as a weakness and way to wear down the world to sweeten the pot. Their long term plan is to control as much land as possible and attack Israel to free the rest of their so called land. The Arabs only respects strength.
If all they wanted was East Jerusalem, Aza, Yehudah & Shomron. We wouldn’t have had any wars prior to 67. We only captured those lands in 67 after being attacked from there.

13: The agreement has actually worked out pretty well, notwithstanding a few hitches.
OF COURSE IT HAS FOR THE TERRORIST'S AND THEIR ABILITY TO SMUGGLE IN DEADLIER WEAPONS AND MORE TERRORISTS FROM LEBANON,SYRIA AND ELSEWHERE.
As far as the tunnels, I don't know and, frankly, neither do you.
ABU STEINER IN PRAGUE KNOWS ANYTHING ?
And anyway, the Aza-Egypt border has nothing to do with us and it's quite silly to pretend or insist otherwise.
KEEPING THE JEWS BLIND TO THE GROWING THREAT FACED FROM THE RADICALIZED ISLAMIC TERRORIST STATE OF GAZA IS THE WOIRK OF ALL GOOD ENEMY PROPAGANDISTS AND TERRORIST OPERATIVES OF WHICH STEINER FITS THE BILL.
Just as we have no say in who brings what into Lebanon to fire at Israel, it's wishful thinking that we should have a say on who brings what into Aza to fire on Israel. Let's be real.
LETS BE REAL AND REMOVE THE EVER GROWNING AND DEADLIER CANCER THREAT NEXT TO ISRAEL

21. 6 - "we need a leader with balls"
That is your problem. You think "balls" is the solution to leadership void. You can have a leader with all the "balls" in the world but the fact remains that your society is simply anarchy, meaning the people have no respect. Typical middle eastern mentality: get a strong hebchman as dictator and that will be the answer. Until you have another Saddam, Assad, or Arafat. What a bunch of blind sheep you are.
