This guy, God bless, him, is most likely going to be the first Arab Muslim pilot in the IAF - nothign wrong with that. He understands where his future is. He also understands that he will put a huge stigma on his society if he betrays. FInally, there are hundreds of Druze officers and some Christian Arab ones, including a woman officer in the Navy. Why not give this kid a chance - please note that people from the settlements who responded don't have a problem with this. It will be impossible for an Arab air froce to train a Jewish pilot - so this will be teach the greater Middle East a good lesson about opportunity in Israel.

Isn't it so that only the citizens of Israel can serve in the air force? And isn't it that anybody not officially certified as a Jew is eligible for Israeli citizenship? Israel is a rasist theocracy after all, or has something changed recently?

if he passes all the tests to join the air force, including all the security checks, give him a chance. on top of that he's already a very good civilian pilot, that in itself should give him a head start over some of the new recruits.

After reading this heart warming story about a patriotic muslim palestinian pilot.... I find myself wondering.. Can a palestinian be trusted? How loyal can a Palestinian be? Can generations of teachings be wiped out from palestinian minds, that now they seek to serve a Jewish State. Jews have struggled for centuries to regain Independece of Eretz Israel. On the other hand we see Palestinians seeking to destroy Israel. What is the background of these people who their son wants to join the IAF? What kind of values have they taught him that he has rejected the will of his own people -thier cause. If this was from the other viewpoint a jewish israeli wanting to join the palestinian airforce-does not exist , Israelis would think hes a trader and the palestinians would never trust him. Amongst All, trust, honesty, loyalty, deep down your heart always belongs to your own people.

None were send to serve in the Pacific, where they could be faced with potentially shooting at members of their own families. I don't believe Israel is in the same position. That soldier will have to fight and kill other Arabs. Will this soldier be willing to shoot or bomb Gaza or Syria, or jericho; or will he end up like that Muslim soldier who murdered his officers in Iraq.

There is nothing wrong with wanting a homeland and for that you don't need to be a Zionist or anything. It is an universal right that any human being is entitled to. Last I learned in well educated history...Muhammed was a war hero who went by the sword and Jesus was full of compassion and love dieing on a cross for your selfish sins.
