31. Arab majority in 15 years? Soffer predicted that in 1988 !
Tomer ,   Herzeliya   (01.25.06)
This moron has hutzpah. He should first of all apologise for his old WRONG predictions before making new ones!
32. #17
(01.25.06)
Satmars are right.Secular Israel-no man land
33. Give up. I give up. Here.Take it all.
yoel Ariel ,   Ft.Lauderdale,USA   (01.25.06)
The Olmert Plan: Hmmmm. Let's see, now. If we keep ALL of the land from Rachov Frishman to Ibn Givrol, leaving out the big square, which was stolen from the "true" owners who developed it thousands of years ago, we will have a defensable country with an almost Jewish majority of eleventy seven Kadima-crats and forty one Meretz-a-maniacs, fourteen red shirt Laboritniks, subtracting ALL of the "others" who we box up & ship to Miami or New York or someplace (if we decide "who is a Jew") and then EVERYONE will love us and we can get more financial aid from America and live side by side in peace with out dependable, loving neighbors who will respect out form of government (whatever that is) and our religious practices(or not practices), nachon? No? OK. Just give me a minute. I'll fry up another dish for you to swallow. Mind the bones, now. They can get stuck in your throat.
34. Prof. Arnon Sofer
Micha ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (01.25.06)
Prof. Arnon Sofer is essentially correct in what he wrote. I, as a religious Jew, find it extremely painful to admit that we will have to give away parts of the Holy land of Israel to the Arab enemy whose ultimate goal is to destroy us. Nevertheless, the demographic facts speak for themselves. If we don’t separate we will lose our Jewish majority and the State will, heaven forbid, cease to be a Jewish State. However sanity must prevail and we really must keep a united Jerusalem, the Jordan Valley, and the Gush Etzion.
35. Jewish majority in 15 years
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (01.25.06)
In 15 years, the Jewish majority will be Haredim. The leftists will give away the entire land because they are afraid of becoming overwhelmed by the Haredim. I predict more Haredim becoming religious Zionist (like myself)
36. Re #4: Bribing the Arabs and Jews, #9, #12, #17, #26
Steve ,   USA   (01.25.06)
B"H Re #4 Reducation camps failed in Russia for Jews. Do you think they are going to suceed in Israel for Jews and Arabs? Re #9 Why did we not try to live with the Japenese in peace once they bombed Pearl Harbor? Because they bombed the US. Similarly, Hamas bombed Israel from territories Israel witdrew from, as an act of war. The way to make peace in such a situation is to defeat the enemy and then dictate the terms of peace as was done with Japan, which is now peaceful after their WWII defeat. #12 Land has strategic value. In particular, Syria had the habit of attacking Israel below from the Galilee, because it is a military strategic position to hold, no matter who lives there. Value the land and not just the population centers. It is like valuing a boat when you need to cross a river. #17 It is because we and our fourfathers sinned, and we have been sent to Excile from the Land as a result, that we cry. We wish you to not make the same mistake we did by sinning in the Holy Land to such a degree that G-d sends you also to Excile, because we know how hard it is to come back one we are outside and impure. #26 So are saying then that disengagement makes no sense, that instead proper education and integration is needed? And why is integration only based on citizenship. In the US, we have green cards, and we treat those guests very nicely.
37. The prof. Sofer is wrong
AK   (01.25.06)
How far do you want to withdraw? There are areas within the "green lines" with predominantly Arab population. How about withdrawing from Galilee, soon, and then perhaps from Hebron and Jaffa? The succeeding Israeli governments not only have been against encouraging out -migration of Arabs, but have been allowing in-migration for "family reunification" and huge illegal in-migration. It appears that while Israeli officialdom cheers the arrival of 200 new Jewish immigrants to Israel, between 1993 and now over 100,000 Arabs were legally permitted to settle in Israel. Sometimes it appears as if the Israeli elites want to hasten Israel's disappearance, especially the judiciary. Perhaps, Israelis should demand that anybody serving in their government prove that neither he/she, not any member of their immediate family holds any other citizenship, aside from the Israeli and /or resides abroad. This just to make sure that those people who make decisions for other Israelis actually believe in the future of Israel. For now, it appears that Israeli elites are doing utmost to break the spirit and destroy the morale of the Israelis and darken the Israeli name abroad.
38. Soffer's dogma is disputed
RobertK ,   Jerusalem   (01.25.06)
Another study by a team of demographers led by Bennett Zimmerman reached conclusions much more favorable to Israel. Read all about it-- http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=48498 Israel does not have to hand land to Islamic terror in a mad panic over demography. The only reason terror is now down, relatively, is operation by Israeli security forces throughout Judea and Samaria. Moreover, why should Palestinians living in Nablus or Ramallah under complete Palestinian jurisdiction be counted as part of Israel? They are not Israeli and not part of the Israeli census. They belong to a different political entity. Stop the masochism, folks.
39. #20 Illogical, as always. Why don't you look in your Koran.
AK   (01.26.06)
There, in your own religion you will find Jews in Israel. You do study Koran? Jews are Judeans. They also happened to create and follow the first monotheistic religion called Judaism, named after them --the Judeans, who are from Judea. It's all rather uncomplicated. Now Israelites/Israelis/ Jews/ Judeans can easily place their roots in the Holy Land. Arabs, can't If your Ishmael exists, it is only because he was a figure in a Jewish/Hebrew story; you didn't create him. Without the story of the Israelites/Judeans, your Koran is unintelligible gibberish. Now, your supposed claim to Jerusalem is based only on one story in the Koran -- the imaginary night journey by Muhammad to the "farthest temple." I suggest to you, that the farthest temple could not have been Jerusalem, because it was not the farthest temple. And if we're at that, what temple? A church stood in that place, and not the temple at the time. As a matter of fact, Indonesia could be a far better site of the farthest temple or better yet, Salomon Islands, in the Pacific. Jerusalem is not far enough.
40. demography is no reason.
david ,   geneva   (01.26.06)
Sooner or later arabs will be a majority in every portions of the state. Will we have to pull out of everywhere because of arab's natality rate? Following this strategy the jewish israel will be the size of Tel Aviv by 2050! Is that what we want? As bitter as it may sound, force may still be the sole issue to ensure Israel's borders and legitimacy in the face of ever growing anti-jewish feeling in the world. Or we will have to become more pragmatic in politics and study the Khazar model of state.
41. To Steve: Buffer security zones/Peace Keeping Forces
MARK ,   USA   (01.26.06)
I agree what you are saying but that is why a multi-national peace keeping force like there is on the Golan is needed in addition to a small buffer zone. Will that help? It can not hurt.
