Bottom line: The College of Judea and Samaria is worthy of being a university, and if these extreme leftists actually cared about academics, they wouldn't protest. Their beef is 100% political, and as such, Tel Aviv University should give back the Arab land that their university is built on, and so should Hebrew U. for that matter. Jews will live in Judea and Samaria--get used to it. If there will be peace someday, it will not be based on Judenrein areas. It will not be based on destroying communities or colleges and transferring people--not Arabs, and no, not even Jews. The Palestinians turned down the state offered them in the 1947 Partition Plan. After that, Jordan violently conquered Judea and Samaria. In 1967, it used it as a springboard to attack Israel in an attempt to annihilate it. Israel captured Judea and Samaria in self-defense. It has the best claim to them, but is still willing to negotiate a fair compromise. "Fair compromise" does not mean Arabrein or Judenrein. For the record, Ariel Sharon, the current inactive PM and founder of the Kadimah Party voted for conversion of Ariel College into a university. While it may have been Mrs. Livnat's initiative, the entire cabinet at that time bears collective responsibility for the decision. It will be interesting to see whether Kadimah/Likkud will uphold Sharon's wishes.
