If this officer's advice on handling demonstrators is the conventional wisdom in Israel, everybody will be dead. Of all postings, Phil's is the most sensible one in a long time. I think both sides messed up horribly-police in its very disproportional response that looked like kossaks hitting Jews during the pogrom and the settlers that took it too far this time. This policeman was doing his job and he did not deserve to be injured. Neither did the 16 year old who ended up in the hospital with the cracked head and in the coma. Settlers got screwed big time by the successive Israeli governments who put them there and now left them with nothing-in some cases with more kassams and no places to run away from them.
