3. Reminds me of when in '96...
he visited a home of a poor family in South Tel Aviv. They had 8 kids and were living in 2 rooms. Netanyahu explained the reason why they couldn't afford a better place to live was because of the Labor Party. Right...!

4. Bibi wants to end poverty by killing all the poor people

5. Bibi - A true Republican
To him its all about big businnesses and sticking it to the litte guy. What he really means is " In three years the rich here will become so rich that they'll HAVE to create new jobs" . Reaganomics is a proved failure. By the way what does he mean he "proposes paying salaries to IDF soldiers"...? Get it straight Plocker..

He'd never kill the poor, most of them are his voters.

7. Quit the silly socialist nonsense!!!
Bibi has taken Israel's economy from a -2% recession to 5% GDP growth. Nobody gives him credit for that. All this barking about the 'poor.' It's so easy to blame one man for all of those people being poor. What a load of rubbish! For a start, under Bibi, unemployment dropped by 3%. And Intel has just invested $4 billion in new plants in Israel. Israel has the highest tax burden in the world, and that doesn't fair well with investors. A 9% Income tax reduction would create such an immediate spur of wealth that the economy would burst in development. More money = more jobs = more people working = less welfare cases. There will always be poor people - people who refuse to work, and would rather live off of the working tax payer. I'm appalled by the anti-rich sentiment espoused in the article. 'Let's get those evil rich people, make them pay! He shouldn't be entitled to a University subsidy because his father is rich (and subsequently pays more in taxes than most other people).' 14% VAT is the lowest in the western world? Sorry, but Sweden, Germany, and Norway do not account for the entire Western world. America has no Sales Tax or Vat above 9% (in some areas there is none at all.) I believe that Australia and Canada's are no more than 10%. Poorer people can buy more of what they need if the VAT is lowered. 14% is still astronomical, but a much lesser evil than the 17%. Overall, this article contained false facts and a lot of socialist drivel. Bibi's plan is the only one put forth so far that would truly inspire growth and bring Israel up to first world standards. Unfortunately - with the media raving about the poor (most of whom own refrigerators, computers, washers & dryers, and mobile phones) - people will feel pressured to invest in the same socialist policies that only end up with more poverty, rather than Bibi's common sense approach that would bring Israel's economy to the top of the GDP per capita lists.

8. Capitalism and return re-investment distribution is the Key
What most socialists don't get and most capitalists are interested in is that Capitalism can eliminate poverty if policies are formulated that employ capital not only in production but also in investment return reinvestment and distribution to the structurally impoverished. Increased production increases employment. Interest return re-investment and reapportionment can finance the needs of the poor just as trust funds finance the lifestyles of historically wealthy families. There comes a point at which the money multiplier when combined with production and employed properly can be used to create a self sustaining production/consumption closed system for small systems which can be approximated as closed systems. A partnership made up of public finance, private ownership and industrial policy with a predetermined percentage of the returns going towards population segment community investment could easily eliminate poverty in Israel. If Israel with less than seven million people where to model its economy after the industrial development component of the Japanese economy and invest in and develop automobile industries, hi- tech industries, etc. with 10% of returns going into community based businesses who's ownership shares would be privately held with limited rights of transfer and allocated in a manner similar to the Israeli Kibbutz for members within communities, poverty in Israel could be complete eliminated. These are the details missing in former and future Prime Minister Netanyahu's promise to eliminate poverty.

9. WE NEED NEW BLOOD and NOT OLMERT
Bibi did try to be a good PM last time around but failed. He is still the best of the 3 evils. Is there any new blood out there? Maybe if a guy like Baruch Marzel wants to be PM, we should give him a chance. With Hamas in charge and Marzel wining, we could see real peace faster then any of the other canadates. Remember Menachem Begen? Peace came over night because he won.

10. Margret Thatcher
Anybody remember Margret Thatcher? The only reason that the UK has enjoyed economic growth and stability for the last 25 years or so is because of the policies of Margret Thatcher.

11. The Irish tiger as inspiration
In 1990 Ireland's GDP per capita was among the lowest in the industrialized world with widespread poverty and very high unemployment. Today 15 years later Ireland's GDP per capita is more than double that in 1990 and is today among the highest in the world. What did the Irish do? The traditionally back-ward agriculture based Irish economy invested heavily in education, cut taxes, extensive privatization, incentives for international high-tech and other companies which dramatically reduced the unemployment. In contrast to Ireland, Israel has its own indigenous advanced high-tech industry which is among the most dynamic in the world. In recent years Israel's pharmaceutical industry and several other industries have expanded dramatically. The Bank of Israel Governor Stanley Fischer who is not a politician and interested in votes is supporting tax cuts, further incentives for companies, negative income tax for low income workers, continued privatization and cutting Israel's depth/GDP ratio and streamlining the economy as a prerequisite for long-term economic growth and fighting poverty. Teva's successful president Eli Hurwitz is suggesting that Israel should invest heavily in education to close gaps between poor and rich as well as introducing more technology in traditional industries in order to increase the productivity. Israel has many gifted people and it is time that responsibility prevails over political rethoric. At the end of the day only education, technology and economic growth can eliminate poverty and with patience and intelligence Israel can gradually eliminate poverty and rise to the top of the most prosperous countries in the world.

12. 14 percent, the lowest in the Western world?
Well here in Miami-Dade county, it's only 7%. I guess Sever Plocker should check his data before writing non sense. Or maybe he doesn't think that the USA are part of the Western world...
philip ,   miami, usa   (02.09.06)
13. #10 + #11
I'll take the Irish over that Milk Snatcher anyday. But if would help if the poor would stop voting for Bibi...
Dororthy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (02.09.06)
14. Reply #3
The reason a family who has 8 kids is poor is quite obvious and it is neither Likud's nor Labour's fault. Bringing up a family also means responsibility and being able to feed your family. If you have low income bringing more kids to the world will hardly improve your economic situation.
Daniel ,   Israel   (02.09.06)
15. Hows he going to wipe out poverty??
Is he going to bomb all the poor or just kill them off one by one....?
(02.11.06)
16. #14 + #15
#14 - Well, you and I know that, but apparently such hate filled comments work well in Israel. #15 - Of course he's not going to kill them off - they vote for him!
