As a Jew & a staunch zionist, i dont know why there is such an outcry about a Hamas victory in the Palestinian elections.To me i think peace has a far greater chance by Israeli gov. talking to Hamas that at least has a semblence of real authority with the Palestinian masses, instead of a morally incompentent Fatah.I know from our own experience on the southern tip of Africa, that the so called "terrorist movement" called the ANC, after attaining their power here in South Africa, changed their radical tune & became a trully responsible admirable & well loved government.The same happened in Namibia with Swapo.So i do believe once Hamas becomes the legitimate authority in the Palestinian terrotories, their tune will change to responsible governance.Give them a chance & lets find peace in a 2 state solution, their is no other way.Mutual respect & understanding changes many an old tune.

The difference between the ANC and HAMAS is that the ANC had people like Nelson Mandela. Even during the worst of times, Mandela's personal objective was never to massacre all of the white people of South Africa. Even if he was engaged with organizations that used terror tactics, this is a man who truly understands and values democracy, the rule of law and peace. HAMAS has no interest in these things. It despises anything it cannot control. HAMAS is using democratic means to seize power, after which HAMAS intends to establish a violent, expansionist Islamic dictatorship. Not only does HAMAS intend to destroy Israel and murder all of its Jewish citizens, but it then intends to use "Palestine" as a base to subjugate Lebanon's multicultural society and absorb Jordan into a single Islamofascist state. South Africa was incredibly, unbelievably lucky to have had a leader of Mandela's stature (of course he makes some dumb character judgments -- but South Africa would be very different had he been a vicious sociopath like Yasser Arafat or Saddam Hussein -- or a bloodthirsty monster like Khaled Mashaal). The Palestinians have never had a true leader like Mandela. Do not cheapen his name by associating it with HAMAS.

I understand that the Islamic world is offending by the publishing of the cartoon insulting their prophet, but I ask you, how many times have you seen a mocking image of Jesus Christ? It makes no sense to me how the illustrations created by one man can lead to riots calling for the death of innocent people. If the Islamic world uses this cartoon to create violence, they are the evil ones. Freedom of speech is an undeniable right. Cartoon=death/war? rediculous.
