The MOVEMENT is WRONG_ how can a bunch of white skinned people that have lived for centurires in europe ,russia and other places claim the LAND of people who have lived there- with their homes, orchards and families for generations? tell me? how can you justify this/

Jane   (02.26.06)
Because it is our home. Because not all Israelis come from Europe. Because they came from Ethiopia, Syria, Egypt, Yemen, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Morocco, etc. after living there for more than a thousand years following the destruction of the second Temple (the existence of which you no doubt deny). Stop with the white-skinned theory. Israelis are not all white skinned which, at any rate, has nothing whatsoever to do with our right to our land. Jews have lived in Israel for generations and have homes and orchards as well. The movement is not wrong. The only thing that is wrong is you denying Jews the same rights to a national movement that you grant to everyone else. That is why, in fact, anti-Zionism IS anti-Semitism. If it is OK for everyone except Jews, your motives become very clear. And it is you who is crazy (not to mention evil).

this prove who racist you are when you talk about all Muslims and don't start because I red your torah and know how it teach you to be the chosen people and that you are superior of the rest of the world and many other things. Don’t start. Arab lived together with Jews for thousand years in the holy land until the 19th century when the European started to persecute Jews till Hitler came and started to exterminate your people. I feel sorry for your people who died in the concentration camps. and also feel sorry for the way of life they experienced in Europe. Ironically, the Zionists used this terrible incidents to come to Palestine and start exterminate its indigenous people and they used the European Jews which were filled with hate and because they couldn't do anything thing against Europe they found the Palestinians to punish them for something they didn't do. Jane please read history, you have very good Israelis and Jews who write real history and try to take off this deep hatred against Arabs and Muslims. We don't have this hatred against Jews or Israelis that you have. Palestinians are reacting to the hatred coming from the Israelis against them.

"Chosen People" has nothing to do with being better than anyone else. It has to do with being an example of how we handle our suffering, to be a light unto the nations in that regard. Yes Arabs and Jews lived together in the Holy Land for many years, but do not expect me to accept your theory that everything was roses at that time. If it were, how do you explain the Arab massacres in 1929 and 1936 against the Jews. That having been said, I do not hate Muslims because they are Muslims, unlike Muslims who hate me because I am a Jew. I had Palestinian coworkers in Jerusalem with whom I had very good interaction. The point, Sam, is that I cannot accept the hatred being directed toward me and my people. And I certainly cannot accept the denial of my right to live in the home of my ancestors. Also, Sam, understand that more than half of the Israeli population does not come from Europe. They come from all of the Arab lands from which they were cast out - without their possessions - after having lived there for 2000 years. They include many of my friends, not to mention my husband and his family. They were not all treated so well as you would like to believe in those Arab lands, and their bad treatment culminated with them being thrown out. Israel absorbed approximately 800,000 of these Jews. The fact that the almost equal number of Arabs who left, or claim to have been thrown out, were not absorbed by their Muslim brothers is a blight on the Muslim world, not on Israel. Hatred is not part of Judaism. Self-preservation, however, is at the core of Judaism. You cannot expect me to look warmly on those who hate me and deny me my rights. Don't start.

Have you ever asked yourself how could Arabs live together for thousand years then suddenly in early 20th century problems has irrupted? It was because of the mass immigration of Jews to Palestine. Palestinians started to feel that their land is being stolen. Lots of elderly Palestinians tell you stories about how they lived all together in peace. If you go many years back, Jews lived very well with Arabs. Many stories and many prominent scientists in Andalusia like ebn maimoon have lived with the Arabs. Even now if you go to any Palestinian living under occupation for many years and open the hand he or she will give you the hand in peace. Palestinians fear the idea of pure Jewish state. Why dose it has to be pure? Why can't we all live together in one democratic land with Jerusalem undivided and Palestinian refugees return to their land? If I want to live in Canada or you in the states do we have to displace its original inhabitants? Jews lived also in the Arab states before the creation of Israel and most of the businesses were run by Jews. It’s Europe that always has persecuted Jews and not the Arab. Last sorry for acusing you of stupid, but please be open minded and try to understand palestinians and don't look at them as terrorists. It's the USA that is trying to make of the arab and the muslims aterrorists. after the fall of the eastern block they had to find another enemy for their existance and Israel is doing now the same and taking the opportinity to grab more land and displace more palestinians. if you are a real Jew like the Jews I know personaly then you won't accept that

I am a real Jew, Sam. I want my one little, tiny peace of my Holy land to be the land of MY people. I will not deny others the right to live there, but they will have to do so with the understanding that they are living in a Jewish State. That is how my beloved Jewish mother-in-law of Blessed Memory lived in Morocco. She understood that she was living in a Muslim State. That, dear Sam, is why she moved to Israel.

Sam ,   Canada   (02.28.06)
specially in Morocco Jews lived in very good conditions and still do so. if you check you'll find that the king of Morocco has some Jewish advisors because they are Moroccans. if you say a Jewish state then it has nothing to do with democracy and I also don't agree for any country to call itself a Muslim state. I see you don't deny others the right to live there then we agree together that we should all live in one democratic country with no group persecute the other it's the holy land for all religions so how should it be designated for one only religion. It seems that only both of us are continuing in this talkback but it’s really nice talking to you. One more thing, if you say that you want to leave in a Jewish country, do you have to displace people use to leave there for thousand years because you want to make pure Jewish?

Jane   (03.01.06)
No, Sam. I do not want us all to live in one big country, because we all know that would be the end of the Jewish State, something I would NEVER accept. The Palestinians could have had, and can still have their own state. I have no interest in living there. The Jews displaced no one. It is our ancient land, one on which many Jews did, in fact, live continuously. In modern times, the British created Jordan from 78% of the land, and the United Nations created one Jewish State and one Arab state from the remaining 22%. Sam, I remember a Muslim co-worker in Jerusalem telling me that he had a much better life under Israeli governance than he did under Jordanian, but that he would trade it all to be ruled by his own people. I understand and accept that. Why is it that you cannot understand and accept that a Jew prefers to be ruled by his own people? Arabs have 22 lands, and Muslims even more. Why do you have a problem with our having one tiny little land that historically, archeologically and legally belongs to us?

Jane, if Jews returned to the holy land after 3 thousand years why would Palestinians give up their land after 50 years? You said that you displaced no one. Well my father and grand parents were displaced from yaffa in 1948 and the house still there and Jewish family is living there now. I was just like you, we have to remove them and they have to go back from where they came from. I changed due to the realty and I don’t say that you have to go back from where you came from because I’m not like those who came in 48 and decided to take our house because they use to live there thousand of years ago. By the way, Israel gave up Sinai where the prophet Moses spoke to God. And will give up soon the west bank where the kingdom of Israel used to be. Practically no Jews have ever lived in the 48 territories so what right do you have to live there. I think the only problem with Jews is that they fear the persecution, extermination and discrimination they experienced in Europe. Would you tell me why the original plan of Zionism to create Israel in Uganda or Argentina? Did you have any right there? And also why did you wait thousands of years before remembering returning to the holy land? It’s the discrimination in Europe. We are in different world now, no apartheid system can last log and democracy governs. The Arabs of Palestine are your best allies because they never harmed you. It was always the European. Most of the Europeans still discriminate Jews, Arabs and any other race. If you say today that you want your pure Jewish state then you mimic the Germans when they tried to clean Germany form non Arian race or the South African apartheid regime and both didn’t last long. Many Jews, among them lots of Israelis started to realize the fact that they can’t continue oppress Palestinians and follow now the idea of one democratic state. Example is the Israeli Journalist that I admire, you must know him, he is Gideon Levi. He is now in a tour in Canada and I’ll attend one of his presentations. Palestinians won’t give up their dream of returning to their land. Let’s work together and make the holy land the peaceful place on earth.

A friend of mine, his name is Rabkin Yakov has issued a new book the title is "A THREAT FROM WITHIN: A CENTURY OF JEWISH OPPOSITION TO ZIONISM" and you find the book on the following link with praises from Naom Chomski. http://www.zedbooks.co.uk/ Professor Yakov teaches Jewish history and history of science at the university of Montreal in Canada. He is also a member of the association for one democratic state Palestine / Israel the association: http://www.one-democratic-state.org/

Sam, we obviously must agree to disagree. I consider Israel my JEWISH birthright, my JEWISH homeland, my JEWISH piece of the world. I will not give it up, I will not dilute it's identity, I will not explain myself further, nor will I apologize to anyone.

The minute you bring up Noam Chomsky, you negate the validity of anything you want to say. Sam, he might as well be a Muslim.

I also don't agree much with Naom Chomsky because he doesn’t agree with the idea of one state for all he supports more the two state solutions. Jane, you don't need to apologize to any one. When I changed my belief from displacing all Jews from my homeland to accepting them I didn't apologize to any one. I just realized that they are human beings just like me, and God created us all equal with no superiority of one group over the other. It's only when I stopped being taught of what to believe or not and started to use my brain and account for human rights that every one should have equal right wherever he lives and should fight for it and for the other who believes on it. Forget Naom, Professor Rabkin is a Jewish orthodox and teaches the Jewish history. You can also check Illan Pappe, who teaches history in Haifa University. Try to explore by yourself and not to listen to what people tell you and make decisions based on what you've heard. Did you read “The History of Modern Palestine” by Illan Pappe? Please don't give me your impression on him without reading any of his books. We are open now through the Internet and libraries to the entire world and no one can tell us fake stories any more like "Land without people for people without land". Did you check the site of One Democratic State Palestine / Israel? Go there and you'll be surprised of the Israeli board members of this association. There are many similar associations with the same goal, which you can find in Israel or anywhere in the world.

Ilan Pappe is highly disreputable, a disgrace to the Jewish People and the State of Israel. Sorry that your efforts are to no avail. I realize that you are making every effort to sound reasonable, but it all goes back to my final point: Israel is the home of the Jewish People. Period.

Which Israel? Israel Uganda or Israel Argentina. The holy land is the land for all its inhabitants who will return to it and live in it together Jews, Muslims and Christians. Period. Was nice talking to you and might see you in other talkbacks. Regarding Illan Pappe, did you try to read his works or again "they" told you?

The only Israel, the one in the land of OUR FATHERS. I don't need anyone to tell me what I know from G-d. Mecca and Medina are the Holy Lands for Muslims. The Vatican is the Holy Land for Catholics. ISRAEL IS THE HOLY LAND OF THE JEWS.
