Several years ago, my son, Rabbi Abraham Berkowitz, travelled throughout Alaska bringing "Yiddishkeit" to "The Frozen Chosen." It's very inspiring to know that Jews are proud of their heritage wherever they are!

There is no exile like one at 40 below, no halavah like halavah that arrives forty days old, no minyan like the ones where men come cold as Moose, and no land as great as our 49th state Unlike other West Coast venues, Alaskan Jews know how to bonk a halibut between the eyes and how to shoot. And many like me are not buying the reform line on Israel but see it as the only chance for democracy, woman's rights, and freedom in the Middle East. Go Israel. I am in your corner.
