31. A mixed marriage is wrong
Anne ,   USA   (03.03.06)
It produces psychologically unbalanced, hateful kids who don't know who they are. Mixed marriages can produce wonderful kids but not the Jewish kids.
32. no reasons to judge her
bok ,   fr   (03.03.06)
This kind of decision are very personnal, and nobody can judge her decision.
33. The woman does not have a good head on her shoulders...
Tom ,   Tel Aviv   (03.03.06)
but she as a great body underneath it.
34. Intermarriage
Avi Tuchmayer ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.03.06)
Maybe they could have an "egalitarian" wedding ceremony performed by Reform "rabbi" Dalia Sarah Marcus.
35. Jewish Narrow Mindedness
Ryan ,   Chicago, IL, USA   (03.03.06)
You stupid fucks ... so what he is not Jewish ... does that make him less of a human ... as long he is decent, loving, and sincere what does it matter what religion he is. Get over your narrow mindedness, we are in the 21st century. Drop that Jewish pride and stop acting like muslims who kill their daughters if they marry a non-muslim man in many countries.

41. Who cares?
jason white ,   afula,israel   (03.03.06)
If her family did not cut her off,why should we care? Let her go and we are better off without her or the other ones that marry arabs or whatever. Let them go and not return years later. We can do without them. I am not religous, but I still feel the chain of history from the Jews that stood at Mt.Sinai to the present. I will not break the chain and I hope my children follow suit. One other thing would she have gone out with him if he was a lithuanian truck driver?
42. #35
chanala ,   israel   (03.03.06)
sensing a bit of tension here sweetheart. we certainly dont intend on killing her for this, we are simply discussing the importance of preserving Jewish tradition for future generations. All it takes is one party to a marriage to be of another faith for that tradition to be lost. Our people are not monsters who randomly blow themselves up for 70 virgins. A sad thought if you can't see the difference.
43. I wish them a happy marriage and a wonderful life
Micha ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.03.06)
No one has the right to interfere when people love each other. Life is short and happiness is not always easy to find. Let us wish them a happy marriage and wonderful life together. Incidentally, Moses married a gentile woman. She probably converted and embraced the religion of Israel. Maybe, who knows, the basketball player will also convert and then there will be another lovely Jewish family in the world.
44. to 35, and the rest...
makhteret2006 ,   yehuda   (03.03.06)
ryan, you're, nebech, a shaygetz and so you dont get it. It does matter what he is because marriage isnt about satisfying selfish personal wants, rather it is a means to perpetuate the jewish idea. Anyone who, like you, attacks such self-preservation and insists on intermarriage is basically calling for the end of judaism. Just be honest about it.
45. Marzel to beauty queen: Don't marry a goy
Brian ,   Leeds.UK   (03.03.06)
Who cares who she marries. Nobody's business. You are right it sounds racist. Who cares anyways.I never even heard of Marzel.
46. The only reason why Marzel and Co. are against this marriage
Ezra ,   Los Angeles, USA   (03.03.06)
is because Abergil is a total hottie and they're freaking jealous of Jasikevicius.
47. #35 Ryan - you are simply WRONG!
Avi ,   USA   (03.03.06)
Firstly, nobody said Sharas is "less human". In fact, he may be a wonderful person, but that is not the point. Secondly, how dare you compare Jews to muslims! Especially, as regards "honor killings"! Get off your high horse you blind fool. In case you didn't know, King David himself was a great grandson of Ruth - a princess who was CONVERT to Judaism. And again, "Jewish pride" plays no role here. These are G-d's laws, a Divine Code, and it behooves Jews and Non-Jews to adhere by them. Do you understand that? Or perhaps, you simply do not believe in G-d, in which case you may want to do some more research, since YOU are the one who is "narrow-minded". Thus says G-d, "Marriage between Jew and Non-Jew is detrimental to both parties, spiritually AND physically." " A Non-Jew has the option to convert, but a Jew can NEVER undo his/her Jewishness." "If you are born Jewish, you stay Jewish. Period." Jews have 613 G-dly commandments to abide by, as per the Torah; and Non-Jews have their 7 G-dly Noachide commandments to abide by, as per the Torah. The 7 Divine Commandments for the Children of Noah are as follows:
1. BELIEF IN G-D --- i.e., Do NOT worship Idols. 2. RESPECT G-D AND PRAISE HIM --- i.e., Do NOT Blaspheme His Name. 3. RESPECT HUMAN LIFE --- i.e., Do NOT Murder. 4. RESPECT THE FAMILY --- i.e., Do NOT Commit Immoral Sexual Acts. 5. RESPECT FOR OTHERS' RIGHTS AND PROPERTY --- i.e., Do NOT Steal. 6. CREATION OF A JUDICIAL SYSTEM --- i.e., Pursue Justice. 7. RESPECT ALL CREATURES --- i.e., Do NOT be cruel to animals.
48. #17 is right
Trismegistus ,   USA   (03.03.06)
Yes, imagine the shoe being on the other foot, if "Sharas" was told by his priest not to marry a Jewess. The screams of "ANTI-SEMITE" would be deafening. I hope he reconsiders. Not for her sake but for his, to maintain HIS racial purity.
49. Wow. Culture shock.
D- ,   San Diego, USA   (03.03.06)
I find this whole intolerance to this couple's choice to marry so incredibly offensive. I don't even want to understand it. Don't bother trying to explain it to me. There is no acceptable explanation. If there is some rule it violates, change the rule! I there is some belief it violates, the belief is wrong!
50. #47 Do think the simpletons understand it?
Roger ,   USA   (03.03.06)
They don't get the essense of our tradition. They learned a a few euphemisms and throw them at Jews without any understanding. Do you expect them to know anything? The woman is dumb. We have stupid Jews. What can we do? Nothing. When the finally understands it she will be too old and it will be too late.
51. It is funny but but the anti-Semitic viruses
Anne ,   USA   (03.03.06)
do read the Jewish Zionist press. They are full of hate and cannot contain their bastardly emotions. Hence, they come here to cast a moral judgment on the Jewish traditions.
52. She can do what she wants but
Bill ,   USA   (03.03.06)
nobody owes her any recognition. She is lost and gone forever. Bye!
53. #44 How do you want them to get it?
Danny ,   USA   (03.03.06)
They think they know something about the Jews when in fact they don't. Do you expect them to understand the concepts that carried us through for over 5000 years? The problem is that woman was not raised in the right environment. What education did she get? So, she is a pathetic case and she can go her way!
54. Such intolerance!
John ,   Jerusalem   (03.03.06)
That's nice. So it doesn't matter who he is, but only what he is. I would like to know if the rabbi cheered when Macabbi T"A won the European League title the last 2 years? Good enough to represent Israel, but nothing more? Typical Jewish religious nonsense, reflecting almost a Taliban style of intolerance.
55. to #31
John ,   Jerusalem   (03.03.06)
You want to see hateful people? Look at all of these responses against the marriage! All of them "pure" Jews I assume... Hateful indeed!! But, that's ok, because love conquers all hate, even yours.
56. #anne 31
(03.03.06)
I think it is always better to marry someone from within your own believe. But I have one goy in the family and the kids are Jewish because there mother is and they are true Israeli's! He as a goy keeps kasjroet and keeps jom kipper He is always the one who checks with pesach what is ok to eat and drink and what is not. And he does not even believe in G-d.
57. why
Gougy ,   Czech republic   (03.03.06)
I lived in Israel loved that country with all the everyday troubles, worked hard and did my best to be a good citizen. Than I personally met with the situation mentioned in the last sentence of the article and all the things I (gues did not want to see) did not believe in came out. RACISM IS CANCER DO NOT LET ISRAEL STAY SICK!
58. mixed marriages
Jonathan ,   Medford, MA, USA   (03.03.06)
I am the product of a mixed marriage, Jewish woman and Christian father. If I make aliyah like I intend to after college, will Israelis accept me?
59. Only the bethroted's business
Raffaele Ladu ,   Verona, Italy   (03.03.06)
By the way: 1) Hindrances only increase love; 2) Raising children of parents of mixed religion may be an additional problem, but it can be minimized; 3) A more serious problem may arise if the children have been born _before_ their parent decides to convert - as it may imply disavowing their previous upbringing - luckily, this is not apparently the case. Mazal tov le-chattan we-le-challah!
60. It is not smart #56 to bring an individual case
Roberto ,   USA   (03.03.06)
as a rule. Your case is an exception. They are very rare. Statistically, most mixed families in the US don't raise the kids Jewish. Period! However, that is not the issue here. The issue is that a woman is breaking up a 5000-year chain. Another issue is her upbringing. She ain't smart that for sure and she is not well raised. That is also clear. .....and yes, despite the lack of brains she has a great figure which attracted a handsome sheigetz.
