1. Smoke and mirrors.
Riv ,   Israel   (03.03.06)
One way to reform is to ignore; to not pay them lip service. Russia is up to no good.
2. Sergey Lavrov; and to realize what we know long time ago
Gabrielle Goldwater ,   Geneva Switzerland   (03.03.06)
you have to meet with them ? Some need to have their brains examened
3. Hamas, Iran and Russia
DR ,   Florida, USA   (03.03.06)
Yes, Hamas will change it's ways and recognize Israel and disarm and Iran will stop their nuclear activities and start rebuilding the rainforests....who are these people kidding??? Hamas and Iran will not change unless someone (Israel, USA, EU etc) will force them to change. The world needs to understand their mentallity...they only understand brute force. If we drop a bomb on Ahmedinejad's house, he will behave...worked with Kaddafi.
4. Two faced?
Mike ,   Holon   (03.03.06)
The Russians sit and break bread and meet with hamas. But meanwhile they have been at war with the arab brothers (?), Chechen rebels, for over 11 years with thousands dead on both sides. Which group is the more 2 faced, the russians or the hamas?? Or maybe the old saying, "clean your own house before worrying about your neighbors house" should apply here??
5. Longing for the bad old days
Chrisona ,   Chicago.IL   (03.03.06)
The bad news here is the Russian sense of resentment at having lost the clout it feels it had as the USSR.
6. They are turning Hamas into the PLO
Roger ,   USA   (03.03.06)
They may not be violent but will turn Islamic Jihad into the serial murderers while condemning their acts. ...the ugly Palestinian Arab game based on blood, death and destruction continues. Stay tuned!
7. Lies
Linda   (03.03.06)
And more lies
8. '67 Line for Hudna, Destruction Later
Jerry ,   NYC, USA   (03.03.06)
Anyone who negotiates with Hamas is a traitor to the State of Israel and an enemy of the Jewish people.
9. Two Faced is Absolutely Correct
(03.03.06)
Russia trying to show the Muslim world that they are still on their side even after carpet bombing 600,000 Chechen people and turning their capital into rubble.
10. Can they afford to bow to Russia's request in Public ?
Hiram ,   Tel Aviv   (03.03.06)
Probably not . .... The " leaders" are tribal chiefs and have so much pride that bowing to Russia's suggestion will hurt them.....and would also probably defeat their coming to power with the support of many extremists....Not accepting to reviews their position towards Israel is a big political mistake. The Hamas had the possibility of showing the international community a different face....I Guess that now, any Hamas led government will not take long before it collapses both on political and economic issues. Mashaal is right : Hamas was not ready to win the election...It takes more to grow up than the time of an election campaign. Passing from infancy to adulthood may be a painful process especially given the intransigeance of the terrorists representing " the majority of the Palestinian people " who, at the same time, are now co-responsible for the future collapse of the " upcoming" 'government ! Same causes will always have same effects ( was is Lavoisier's principle ? ) Let's see how long it will take for the Hamas to be placed in the garbage can of the middle-east History !
11. You Make Me Sick
Omar ,   Nablus, PALESTINE   (03.03.06)
Not only are you people not giving democracy and peace a chance, you're shattering it completely. So what if Hamas won't recognize Israel!!! The Likud doesn't recognize our rights or autonomy! Yet they're still able to run without any international objection. Hypocrites. As long as Hamas is willing to abide by a long-term cease-fire (their current offer stands at 15-100 years according to mutual cooperation).. it's a START. And 100 years is a whole lot more than any of us can guarantee right now. My opinion: give Hamas and reform a chance or leave the door wide open for it to revert to its old ways.
12. Omar
DR ,   Florida, USA   (03.03.06)
It is hard to negotiate with someone who has killed your people and has openly stated that your destruction is the ultimate goal. Would you negotiate with me if I came to your house and blew up your family...probably not!!!
13. Occupation want peace for free
DAVID ,   houston, USA   (03.03.06)
Hamas is right, you want peace with them give the Palestianian some of thier land back.

16. #11 - You were sick to start with
Arie   (03.03.06)
Hamass will never recognize Israel and they admit it. They admit any cease fire would just serve their purposes to regroup. As for their "current offer", only as good as the shit you step in daily! And your rights at autonomy? Your 'people' had been offered just about everything they wanted: the bulk of the West Bank; Gaza; full independence; and peace. YOUR people rejected the offer outright and added violence to their refusal. The only solution that is acceptable is for the "palestinians" to find some representatives who vlue peace over anarchy and you can have it quicly. As long as yo choose terrorists to lead you, then you can drown in the quagmire of shit you created! By the way - your email - is that your way of seeking out the 72 virgins for your trip to hell?
17. Misleading title
Francois ,   Paris   (03.03.06)
The title Hamas: Peace with Israel for withdrawal to ’67 borders is wrong because want to implement their so-called right of return: e.g. turning Israel into a Muslim country. One more example of Israeli Leftist bias. Hamas is a not a partner for peace and won't never be. These so-called journalists should be ashamed of themselves. Their "peace" activism killed 1800 Jews and they want more blood. They don't belong to the peace camp but to the Dracula camp.

21. #11
Jane   (03.03.06)
"So what if Hamas won't recognize Israel?"? So what? If they don't recognize us, I'll point us out. We're the ones who are going to eliminate them. We don't need their "recognition".
22. one day
jason white ,   afula,israel   (03.03.06)
One day peace will come. That will be the day after we crush the palestinians. Do not even think that omlet as prime minister will be allowed to do this!
23. The Hamas Charter - Lest we forget!
Doug ,   Gwent, UK.   (03.04.06)
Lest we forget;- An extracf from the Hamas Charter itself. "Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it." "The Islamic Resistance Movement believes that the land of Palestine is an Islamic Waqf consecrated for future Moslem generations until Judgement Day. It, or any part of it, should not be squandered: it, or any part of it, should not be given up. " "There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors."
24. Same leopard - different spots.
Doug ,   Gwent, UK   (03.04.06)
How soon the world has forgotten that the basic premise of engaging Arafat & the PLO in dialogue was that they renounce violence and recognise the right of Israel to exist. This paper exercise meant nothing. This leopard didn't change it's spots. Violence increased and the Palestinian Charter calling for Israel's destruction was never revoked. Now the world wants to repeat history with Hamas. More concessions will again be met with more violence and more killing of Jews. Those who forget the lessons of history are bound to repeat them. Here we go again.
25. DR #12
A Bethlehemite ,   Palestine   (03.04.06)
One negotiates with their enemies to make piece and not their allies.
26. #25 No such place as "Palestine" on any map!!! Get lost. End
habib ,   India   (03.04.06)
27. give Hamas a chance? you been smoking hashish again Omar?
Barry ,   Tokyo   (03.04.06)
What's the point in doing so? Israel and the world community did that already with the PLO. All Israel got back in return was the most despicable type of terror conducted by PLO proxies. The Arabs had a golden opportunity to end the self-inflicted hell they created for themsleves and blew it big time. I doubt any Israeli or for that matter, any serious world leader with any clout (forget Norway, South Africa, France etc..) would repeat that same mistake again. What would be expected is more terror by other proxie terror gangs working in conjunction with Hamas, Hizbollah, Syria, & of course Iran (the new axis-of-Islamic-terror) Hey get real. Sharon cleverly prepared a new reality on the ground for his people through his leadership. Now Israel will get back to its business of developing its nation and people whilst Palestinian Arabs will have to literally eat out of garbage cans. Where are all of your Arab brethren now? All they do for you is give lip service. When it comes to hard cash, only gullible Europeans (Danes for example....) have been overtly generous. Many Danes I know are simply shocked by the treatment they received in Gaza of all places. Shock has now turned into disgust and anger so the money will eventually stop flowing.... Russia is not interested in throwing money away either and for that matter, ordinary Iranians aren't exactly living it up so I think the party is over now and you Palestinians have missed the boat yet once again only this time - big time! Sad really..... get a life - Israelis would like to see you people progress.....
28. The only "constant" in this whole conflict is:
(03.04.06)
Every 50 years or so a new insane arab leader arises somewhere, each time they get defeated, each time they cry about it. Until they change their ways they will keep suffering from their own actions. Being stupid won't lead you to peace either. You may think we're as dumb as you to agree to such a 'cease-fire'... we know exactly what those cease fires will lead to, 2 days of nothing until you decide you need to take revenge for something that means nothing. History repeats itself.
29. David; Your reply is a joke
Patriot ,   Redmond,USA   (03.04.06)
Hello? It never was their land! The Jews were there long before the arabs. Study your history please, and not the history that is so common today. The current history makes an argument that the land belongs to these squatters, and that is all they are. Murdering, hate filled squatters backed by some of the vilest, most violent regimes in the world. Why should Israel give back anymore land that they won fiar and square in two wars that they DID NOT start. That is another fact so many overlook. They had their chance and arafat refused to accept a great deal for his people. The Gaza give away proved that giving these islamofacists anyhting will not bring peace.
