Arab woman eyes Foreign Service    Itamar Eichner
1. Oh... she will probably pass the inteliigence reports
directly to the enemies and when identified will claim discrimination. Stay tuned!
Melanie ,   USA   (03.08.06)
2. Melanie what intelligence reports are you talking about?
Read the last paragraph more closely. I am sure she'll do a great job, and I wish her and Israel the best of luck. Why do you automatically think that every Arab is an enemy? I can assure you that they are not, and given equal opportunities will only make them feel more affiliated to Israel (Most Israeli Arabs know that Israel for them is the lesser bad, and I don't see them rushing to join the Palestinian state).
Judith ,   Haifa, Israel   (03.08.06)
3. Two points :
Point #1 I think Israel has also some track records in the "intelligence transmission"....if you see what I mean . Point # 1 Knowing the kind of level expected at this particular exams, only bright applicants pass. I wish this young lady all the success in her career. Who knows, she might be able to play some role in the future.
Hiram ,   Tel Aviv   (03.08.06)
4. Finally
It's about time, and sadly enough, she will probably be a more effective spokesperson for the Jewish State than most of our current representatives, if only because she had to be countless times better, every time, just to get where she is... Mazel tov! Now let's hope she actually defends Jewish rights and understands they protect her own...
Hana Julian ,   Arad, Israel   (03.08.06)
5. ermmm
will we read any comments here by those from Kuwait or Fakestine or any of your usual Israel haters? somehow I think theyll be shtum after all this story wouldnt quite fit with their propoanda and view of Israel would it?
Yisraeli   (03.08.06)
6. rania jubran
melanie at least this girl lives in israel and is doing something for israel in israel.thats a hell of a lot more than what you are doing. your post was out of order.
James McNamara ,   melb aus   (03.08.06)
7. for number #6
You mean like the Arab MK's who use their position in Israel to call for it's destruction?
J ,   London   (03.08.06)
8. A+ for Israel!
Maybe such move would make both Israeli Jews and Israeli Arab closer and make peace between Israel and future Palestine possible! I wish you all a good luck.
Abdullah ,   Kuwait City   (03.08.06)
9. Response to Yishai (post 5)
F.Y.I. 1) I do not hate Israel! 2) I do not hate Jews! 3) I do not hate you! 4) I ask of you to please grow up! 5) Stop jumping to conclusions for God's sake!
Abdullah ,   Kuwait City   (03.08.06)
10. no problem
I find no problem on christian-muslim arabs, druze or beduins being ambassadors or represent in a israel abroad, our ambassador to peru is druze
ian ,   lima , peru   (03.08.06)
11. an Israeli by any other name....
I never felt comfortable with the designations of Israeli-jew and Israeli-Arab. One of the things I was happy about growing up was that there was an example of some peaceful coexistance but I never liked these names. Also, sadly....these examples are fewer than I believed growing up. (I guess I grew up)
jF ,   nashville   (03.08.06)
12. Well done Rania! Good luck!
Yonatan ,   USA   (03.08.06)
13. Jew State
This is a Jewish state and we should only have Jews representing us. We don't help from the Erev Rav, Arabs, Druze or Bedouins.
Juke ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.08.06)
14. Another example of why Israel is a light unto all nations
Israel is a Jewish state with a thriving minority. Israel isnt perfect, but it continues to grow and excel for all of its citizens
David Landman ,   Boston, USA   (03.08.06)
15. I wish her much success
She comes from a prominent family who are Catholic. It will also be good for Israel to have Arabs work in the foreign ministry to prove to all the anti-Israel morons in the world that the opportunity for Arabs to excel in Israel does exist. Not that this will matter but at least we can claim the higher moral ground.

16. Let's hope she's...
Congrats & Let's hope she's more articulate and better in English than that twit Zipi Livni.
Mike ,   TA, IL   (03.08.06)
17. I am happy for her..
but she is not the first Arab woman who got a good job or help from Israel. There are many good things for arabs here, the first house in the middle east for Arab women to hide from her husband and many Arab men are helping them. Good for them. I now hope that a Jew(will not even ask for a woman) will get a good job in Gaza of the west bank too, only than we can say we are going somewhere.
Linda   (03.08.06)
18. THE VERY BEST
OF LUCK TO YOU, AND IM AM VERY PLEASED YOUR FROM HAIFA I LIVE IN HAIFA AND LOVE IT AND DONT UNDERSTAND WHY THE REST OF THE COUNTRY CANT GET ON LIKE WE DO
PILPELET ,   H ISRAEL   (03.08.06)
19. Mabruk/Mazal Tov Rania
I wish you success in representing and defending the only country you have ever known. Melanie, your comments are sinister and xenophobic, are you affiliated with Kahane? Remember, several Israeli Jews have been implicated with aiding terrorists, so religion and culture aren't don't always insulate one from helping the enemy (terrorist groups, not whole nations). The article mentioned the Bedouin Israeli who was admitted to foreign service. His name is Ishmael Khaldi I brought him to my campus to give a lecture and many students were fascinated to see a proud non-Jewish Israeli speak for his country.
Noam ,   Washington, DC   (03.08.06)
20. Chick Arab Diplomat
I don't care if she's an Arab or a Jew, I just hope she's hot.
