Abbas will release the killer of Minister Ze'evi. Abbas endorsed Olmert for Prime Minister. Conclusion: Olmert should not be prime minister.
7. important
(03.08.06)
This has been posted in other news I found that it is important that everybody reads it carefully, it is about checkpoints in west bank: I have posted my opinion on this in a previous article, see below. I have served on machsomim for some time and know it first hand. The soldiers are moral no doubt and are dedicated. A very small minority abuse their authority mostly gets checked with rare cases where one blows a fuse and goes overboard. We saw an instant at Qalandia and the hayal paid with his life. It was a sobering reminder that this is real and emotions are powerful. The purpose of the machsomim is moral in certain locations not in others but what the passers through experience cannot be moral. Certain orders we receive are not moral, those who served in the moslim fasting month know what I am talking about. My point relates that continuing such actions is distorting our morality as Jews and will erode until we have none. I speak from experience as a soldier, citizen, parent and victim. "We all must be honest and those who serve in the IDF and were based in the WB/Gaza for extensive periods know very well what these checkpoints do. The planning division of the IDF has the answer but will not make it public. Facts, the checkpoints were established permanently in April 1994, well ahead of the terror and where used as territorial markings and as separation tools to enhance Israel's negotiating position. It is a hard fact to admit that no more than 15% of checkpoints are necessary for security like Bethlehem, 30% are territorial based like Qalandia and north of Jericho, the rest are collective punishment like huwara , halhul. The checkpoints are terrible, I served all over as an officer for over two years and the stress and the guilt are tremendous. Some soldiers enjoy it but many are victims like all those we look in the eye each day. For those who argue checkpoints are needed to counter terror, well the checkpoints breed so much hatred and humiliation that we are the ones supplying the terrorist organization with their human weapons." 8. Hey Yoel
Secular Sabra ,   Israel   (03.08.06)
This is our country ;) In the end we will have what is ours and Abbas will have what is his. The biggest losers will be the settlers . And you will still be sitting in the good old US of A :o)
9. With friends like these....

10. Peretz new friend vs Peres old friend
peter ,   amsterdam, NL   (03.08.06)
I do hope Amir has a different approach toward negotiations(the word 'peace process'should be banned)than Shimon...more realistic and less dreaming & shmoozing. Olmert or Netanyahu don't have any idea or agenda on this matter or it should be 'unilateralism'. Abbas is relegated to 2nd position anyway by the P.A. parliament(~Hamas) so it's them that should 'endorse' any moves-which aren't forthcoming.
11. Kadima is in a serious problem.
(03.08.06)
Every memember has a different opinion on how to deal with the Arabs, Dichter the securitist wants a tough approach and the establishment of definsible borders, Peres wants a new middle east, the peace now chairman wants a bi-national state, the yesha council chairman wants greater Israel and its all become a big salad, now comes the question, will they sell their ideology for the chair, or is kadima facing a serious crisis which will stop it from functioning coherently and prevent it from taking any real action, sort of like the Likud and Sharon, or the Labour split after camp david 2. Stay tuned.
12. Likud wake up, We live in a democracy.
Palestinian   (03.08.06)
Likud: "Even Abbas, who allowed the formation of a Hamas government" It was a democratic process, we are a democracy, not a "religious state" like Israel. Nobody allowed Hamas' government but the will of the People.
13. Abbas is irrelevant
Natan ,   USA   (03.08.06)
Does any one care what Abbas says?? Can someone remind Abbas that he has ZERO power and that his endorsement of Kadima has as much weight as me endorsing it?
14. And the winner is,......??????
Yoel Ariel ,   In the USA   (03.08.06)
G'mornin' Sec, History takes a looooong time. We shall see who has what and who is where. And,.....who is the loser. Go forth and be fruitful my boy. But I thing the maths of the "settlers" multiplication is going to present you with a different set of leaders with a different viewpoint, somewhat different than what you expect. And I will be sitting in,... well, who knows where? Next week in Costa Rica, the week after I think Canada, if the schedule is correctl. Israel? As work dictates.

Steve ,   USA   (03.09.06)
B"H That is interference in Israeli internal affairs, sponsoring one candidate over the others! Now how much money is being spent by the Arabs on Kadima's campaing?!
