Great election ploy. Now what?    Ofer Shelah
1. Election ploy? The terrorist scum are IN JAIL ON PURIM.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Santa Monica, CA   (03.15.06)
2. you will loose because of this
any nation that never enjoys morals in the times of its power definitely fail and loose, if your conscious allow you to abuse prisoners helpless, people who dont control anything even if you think that they are criminals , you did as your amercian brothers did when they bomb a BAgran prison in Aphganstan, a prison which contained 3000 helpless prisoners they gathered them without any investigations and bomb them even before knowing who they are and what did they do, even before trials or anything, they killed cuffed people by jets in the prison, how immoral and cruel, and as the british and amercians withdrawal from the prison before the coming of the israelis i want to remind them by the most serious withdrawal, which is the withdrawal of british occupation to the israelis to come to palestine, this just has one thing to prove which is all of them are real enemies to arabs and if they pretend to be neutral , they cant stop helping israelis, any how , again this proves that right needs power to protect it, but arabs are enjoying the play ( the paletinian misery) .

3. Shelah, you are the smallest minority in the Israeli society
that one that is scared of its own shadow.
(03.15.06)
4. In Ofer Shelah's right we can say he sticks to his opinion
Never harm terrorists and never act no matter what, way to go!
(03.15.06)
5. Right is right - even before elections....
What's your suggestion - a PA parliament seat -- or better - a faculty chair at Hebrew University for the killers? Perhaps in the Faculty of Terrorism.
Andy   (03.15.06)
6. Ploy?
I suppose that Entebbe was an election ploy by Yittzhak Rabin? You are a total jackasss. Abbas had declared his intention of freeing the 6 Nazis.
Joel ,   New York   (03.15.06)
7. #6 Joel
"Abbas had declared his intention of freeing the 6 Nazis. " There were Germans in that prison!?!??!??????? Damn dude, I never knew.

8. The cost of reoccupation
B"H Here, disengagement has failed. Hamas is not capable of a peaceful relationship with Israel in its release of murderers. The question is what is the best way to engage those who are not Israeli citizens. This is the orange theme of reengagement, promoted by National Union. One method of reengagement is military rule, which the left-wing does not like, preferring negotiations with Hamas. But Hamas is not receptive to Israel's OSLO message yet as far as I can figure. Who is signing today to represent that PA that signed before. That agreement is unilateral now to a large degree as the Hamas enforcement of it is very weak, being that Hamas does not formally recognize Israel. Another approach is reengagement with non-residents of Israel. I think this approach means setting down processes and standards for those who are not citizens of Israel to live in terrority not reserved for Israeli citizens. It means setting applications in place and keeping records and standards on who is worthy of living in the territory without Israeli citizenship, and who is not peaceful enough to do so. Currently, Israel only deals with the PA as this body of non-residents, but does it represent all non-residents? I think it is a very unfortunate body to reprent those who are not citizens of Israel. It discriminates against Jews, does not permit Jews to own land, and attacks Jews to murder them. And the same with the Arabs. If I were Arab, I would want a better body. As a Jew, I definately would want better standards and a better body to implement those standards. I am not asking for a full military takeover by Israel, a full military-style government. But I think that the simple elements, such as property registration, application to reside in a district, credit evaluation, and business standards need to be establised to identify who is someone who is eligible for later citizenship and who is not. I think a vote for the National Union is a vote for the party that has the best grip on this situation and their support is esential to provide clarity on how to resolve Israel's non-resident issues.

9. US Ploy
The U.S. - U.K. guards walked out at 9:20, and the Israeli tanks rolled in at 9:30. Abbas and the Palestinians were not ready as they were not informed when the international guards would leave. The U.S. is propping up Olmert, as he's under their spell. Get ready for Bush's visit three days before elections when they pull the plug on Sharon.
Yonason Herschlag ,   Betar Elite   (03.15.06)
10. Election ploy
So, we should have waited to capture these murderous terrorists until after the elections?? Strike whilst the iron is hot, I say. Well done, the IDF.
Sandra ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (03.16.06)
11. OLMERT IS THE ELECTION PLOY
Olmert was at the bottom of Likud's list, despised in the Likud for his corrupt shenanigans, propelled into power by Sharon because of common corruption
Allan   (03.16.06)
12. to Steve #8 Vote NU
Also National Union Knesset members actually work at legislation to actually help people such as the disabled. Compare with the present government which withholds drugs from sick people because they won't pass a budget
(03.16.06)
13. The politics of cynicism
It is free for all. You can tear up international agreements, break the law, despise UN Charter and do what you can to get elected. This is democracy at its lowest form of cynical manipulation. All will be forgiven if eventually the politicians put more efforts into ending the conflict by reaching a permanent peace agreement.
