1. in other words, the gaza guys hijacked the conference
howard ,   pacific coast, usa   (03.22.06)
Instead of being about fostering relations, it became about spewing polemics. What a waste.
2. to no1
(03.22.06)
of course you turned it into a Gazan barbaric act of hijacking the conference! you guys just cannot take Gaza's name. Wish you open your eyes once!
3. whats there to talk about?
Yisraeli   (03.22.06)
Islam has been on a warring rampage against all humanity for 1400 yrs and wants to destroy all those not like them. Islam is the antithesis to God Islam breaks every single one of the 10 commandments. Islam is the religion of destruction. Islam denies human thought. Islam denies freedom. Islam denies evolving. Islam is sanctioned Piracy. Theft. Murder. Genocide. Adultary. Pedophilia etc. etc. Just some of the basic truths. So tell me what can one discuss with them? Those that practise this cult are not part of Human Evolution but Human De-evolution.
4. The exclusive, chosenistic, and "protocollists"!
Cavalier LaCrosse ,   Atlantic City, NJ   (03.22.06)
The reason why jews and Muslims can't "walk together in the land we love?" is because both groups are based on "exclusivity", "chosenism" and violence openly (the Muslims followers of Surah 9:5) or occultist (the jews doing their "protocollist" thing). Tecnological transparency will make all this very obvious for all to see - Future shock acoming!
5. no 3
(03.22.06)
Every single word you wrote had not a single evidence. Who'd believe what you wrote? seriously this is complete ranting!
6. #3 At least you answered the Rabbi's question
Mo   (03.22.06)
Ruby asks that if we can sing and dance together, why can't we walk together in the land we love? Very knowledgeable statement indeed and one that provokes thought. Unfortunately the answer has been given by Yisraeli as to why he would never be able to walk together with a Muslim in the land they both love. I just hope most Jews don't think like he does, so that we can one day walk together...
7. Vote National Union for sanity!
Steve ,   USA   (03.22.06)
B"H I see this as mainly a struggle between non-citizen rights versus citizen rights in the Land of Israel that extends from the Mediteranian to the East bank of the Jordan. Hamas states that those who are not citizens of Israel should have first priority over those who are citizens of the State of Israel in the entire territory. They propose as I understand it a government under Iran-style system, where Jews are not officially permitted to reside in the territory, and where Jews need to revert to various tricks in order to build a house, raise a family, or even pray in peace. When Israeli Jews propose something along these lines with the roles reversed, the parties are outlawed or their representation is marginalized after the election takes place, calling it racist when in fact it is nationalist. Arabs and Jews are generally not a race, but a nationality lead by a race, claiming both to be the descendants of Abraham. Under National Union, I would see more emphasis on Jewish rights, with Arab nationality being forbidden from interfering with Jewish nationality inside Israel's Green Line. Outside the fence, I am seeing an effort from National Union to identify acceptable standards for home ownership to straighten the chaos of Hamas or Arab bandits running lose shooting things up as groups of armed gangs. I see National Union therefore as a Jewish Law and order party. I think that the focus on "driving the Arabs out" is interfering with the goals of setting manageable standards. National Union I think would setup managable standards best that both parties could reasonably achieve. It can set standards and penalties more effectively than any other political mindset. It is the most educated of the prominent parties in Torah Law and therefore also has the advantage of being able to bring moral clarity to judgement calls. That ironically does not mean always taking the stricter position, but rather an advantage in explaining what the position taken is, and what the moral position is. This education I think is fundamental to educating those who do not have Israeli citizenship what is acceptable, what is not, and setting the specific standards so that regardless of nationality, those with Israeli Citizenship are held to one clear standard and those without are held to another achievable standard.
8. It's a positive start
Jon ,   NY   (03.22.06)
The Gazans had the right to express their frustrations and the Israelis should have also expressed what it is like to have to constantly struggle to exist on land that is your heritage. No side should be denied their side of the story. If both sides are really interested in mutual understanding they need to both acknowledge the realities of the Other. Jews may think Islam is a cult of Evil but these Imams came seeking some sort of first step towards moderation and that should be recognized and nurtured. Regardless of the wrinkles, the conference sounds like a progressive idea. I hope there were enough visionaries on both sides to have made some good come of it that can be built on for the future. I am proudly Jewish, zionist and orthodox religious. I believe, I know, peace can only come when both sides desire it. There are a lot of narrow minds in the Muslim world but any Imams who attended this conference do not sound like radicals. In their culture they are probably as idealistic as their Jewish counterparts. It is therefore them we should be building roads to understanding with who can pollinate a moderate position in the muslim world.
9. Did the Rabbis tackle the Imams after they
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (03.23.06)
tried to take control of the Spanish Parliament? After all, once the Imam's get through taking the Jews land again, they will most certainly go after Spains territory again. And again and again. And every time the Muslims steal land from other cultures, they rewrite history and claim they have been wronged. The Jews stole their land---The Spanish stole their lands. It would be nice if the Imam's could tell the world the truth for once. They could admit that they stole Israeli lands and Spanish lands by force, tried to get the occupants to become Muslims, and are now trying the same thing again. Calyphate anyone? Sounds like a bad wine.
10. Rabbis, Imams and Priest...
Anoosh ,   USA   (03.23.06)
are the wrong kinds of poeple to start a peace making process. The only peace between the Jews and Muslims can be started by the secular liberals on both sides.
11. Protocollist thing?
Mike ,   California   (03.23.06)
I guess I am confused...could you please explain the meaning of "protocollist"?
12. imams
jon jakeoff ,   usa   (03.23.06)
why do some leftist rabbies always think that the jews always do something wrong and the muslem must be understood . muslems around the world are at war with non muslems, and some muslems that think diffrent from them . [as in iraq].the problem is islam.
13. # 11
Greywolf ,   Israel   (03.25.06)
He's referring to those fraudulent "Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion" that were published by the Tsar's secret police a hundred years ago, and proven false by the Times of London in 1921. These "protocols" are the basis of anti-Semitic claims that Jews are conspiring to rule the world. In many Arab and Islamic countries, students are supplied with these protocols to "prove" how depraved the jews are-- and many of them believe implicitly that this forgery is genuine.
14. peace and islam are oxymorons
Arie   (03.25.06)
And the Rabbis really thought they coul engage in a dialogue about peace with the Imams? Maybe it's time to drink some coffee and wake up. Every time a terrorist act is committed, candy is passed out at the mosques; the Imams continue to spew their anti-Semitic diatribes at every chance they can; they foste world carnage and mass destruction. And then you think you can talk to them about peace? Peace and Islam are oxymorons
15. Mecca belongs to the Muslims and Jerusalem to the Jews.
Daisy ,   USA   (03.25.06)
End of story.
16. Sevilla good idea
Hulda ,   Finland   (03.26.06)
I have to say that probably Daisy does not know that Mecca is the place of Abraham as far as I know so it is the beginning of Jews as well as muslims and even christians. Jerusalem is also holy place for all three big religions as well. People should read history, but of course you can start studying your history and the world history today it is never too late.
17. #16; Jerusalem is sacred to Jews and Christians.
Daisy ,   USA   (03.27.06)
Muslims have no claim on Jerusalem. They are occupiers. Mecca is their holy place. You need a history lesson.
18. To Steve #7
Micha ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.28.06)
Steve, I agree with what you wrote. National Union is lead by Benny Elon who, in my humble opinion, is one of the very few really honest polititions in Israel. The party stand for Torah, settlement of the Land, and security. A good choice indeed.
19. More rocks less talk.
David ,   Jerusalem   (03.28.06)
20. Stupid Rabbi's
Jacob ,   DC   (03.28.06)
Idiots like these are representing the Jewish religion. Getting pushed around by Imams in this conference. Giving the Imams ammo when they get back home for their sermons of hate and venom..."We pushed those blood drinking Jews around, only a matter of time before "V" is achieved Allah" blah blah. Next time send some Rabbi's from the IDF. Give them a run for their money
21. #16 about Jerusalem
Helena ,   Finland   (04.02.06)
Read some encyclopedia, find what they write about Islam. Not a word from Jerusalem . King Solomon built the Temple in Jerusalem almost 1000 years before the christianity was borne. For jews and christians this city is something unique, Holy, because it is a part of their history and the place that is connected to the religion in a deep way. Islam was borne somewhere else and Mohammed never visited Jerusalem! The moslems have their mosques in Jerusalem, but what else? What makes it a holy place for them? They pray to Mecca showing where their heart is and who commands them. I think Israel is too kind to give the Temple mount to muslims but I understand what will happen if they are banished from there...
