1. The problem
1) Recognize the right of Israel to exist
2) Disarm the terrorist organizations
3) Agree to accept the binding nature of all the previous agreements with Israel.
Once you've done these 3 things, then look to Israelis to show their good intentions. Until then, stew in your own juices, because it's not Israel's intentions that have put you in the position you're in, but your own. We don't believe you. You're liars.

6. Actions speak louder than words
Israel's actions have long demonstrated she has had an interest in postponing peace, particularly the settlement of borders. Peace would interrupt Israel's expansion efforts. The construction of wall, the rapid construction of (illegal) settlements on Palestinian lands, and the of control all of Jerusalem are clearly Israel's goals. Israel's actions indicate she has these (land grab) goals yet to accomplish before she will have any real interest in discussing peace. Actions speak much louder than words. Israel demands Palestinians recognize Israel's right to exist. Israel's actions clearly demonstrate they do not recognize Palestinians right to exist.

8. #6, Palestinian actions means they never want peace.
Unlike Israel who disengaged from Gaza, Palestinians daily bomb Israeli cities. Hamas continues to have a charter that calls for killing Jews.
Its impossible to make peace with people who want to commit genocide against you.
As for Jerusalem. Arab actions were to ethnically cleanse the city of Jerusalem when it was occupied. Now that Israel has reclaimed its Holy Capital City, ALL religions are free to pray at their holy sites, something Jews were NOT allowed to do when Arabs occupied the Temple Mount, Judaism's holiest site.
Carol, your message makes no sense when Israel is giving up land to Arabs and Arabs are bombing Israel. Its clear by the actions that Israel wants peace and arabs dont. How can you possibly think otherwise?

14. To 6
You show no sense of perspective for someone who claims to know what we've "long demonstrated".
That control of all Jerusalem may be Israel's goal may be true, but it's obvious that Israel has long been willing to cede Abu Dis eastward. And 97% of WB and Gaza. So, Palestinians reactions clearly demonstrate that they do not recognize Israel's right to exist, since the relevant UNSCR's specifically stated that the areas of WB and GAza that would be a future Palestinian state would have to account for Israel's security needs. And, we'll not give the Old City and Temple Mount either. Fight us for it if you think it's so important. The Palestinians never had sovereignty over Jews' most holy site, and we're not giving it to them.
The wall was a result of Palis refusal to stop terrorism, which they "talked" about for a long time. They even (gasp) promised to do it.
Now the "violence" of another unilateral retreat is being proposed by the current government. So much for "land grab".
Sorry, Carol - you've been bamboozled by the terrorists. It's amazing it took so long for everybody to concede that the Palis goals were transparent all along - stated simply they are to eliminate the State of Israel and place an Islamic state in it's place.
We'll not cooperate with that, Carol. You choose what you want to do in the NW USA, and we'll do what we want in Israel.

15. To 13 - Too clever by twice
Unfortunately Jan, you appear ignorant of the details that could have led you to the proper conclusion, which is that Palestinians have not fulfilled their agreements.
The 3 points I raised were the basics underlaying the Road Map and all agreements to date. They are the basis for most Western governments refusing to deal with the new Palestinian government. Indeed, they are the basis for the international legitimacy of the Palestinian Authority from its inception, hard won by Palestinians and hard paid by Israelis. We are not going to compromise on those points.
1. Unlike Palestinians, Israelis stand by their word. Two states living side by side in peace, with boundaries negotiated in accordance with UNSCR's, is something that Israelis have worked toward with far more than lip service. In contrast, Palestinians are being led by a government that doesn't recognize the right of Israel to exist, and ignores that Israel has committed to the right of a Palestinian state to exist. Only the boundaries need be negotiated.
They were led before by a government that said some of the right things but did nothing or the opposite of what they said.
2. The Israeli armed forces are not required to disarm in accordance with agreements w/the Palestinians. You seem to conveniently ignore that we have a few others in the neighborhood to defend ourselves from aside from the Palestinians, who have no enemies worse than themselves.
It's the Palestinians who, according to all agreements must disarm. They have fallen short on all measurements of compliance, and today actively support terrorist groups in their attempt to purposefully harm Israeli civilians..
3. All outstanding UNSCR's have been enacted that can be enacted when they require only Israel's actions. The problem is, Palestinian supporters forget that there is a reciprocal demand in those Security Council resolutions that Israel's enemies must fulfil as well, and because they refuse to do so Israel's obligations are in abeyance.
The fact, Jan, is that boundaries can be set that account for Israel's security needs. It will not b the boundary of 1967.
Therefore, inasmuch as we will wait forever for the Palestinians (and you apparently) to find common sense, the current Israeli government is proposing unilateral withdrawals, in accordance with its own understanding of the UN Security Council Resolutions because it refuses to wait forever, and with that, they will consider the account closed for the time being.
The rest of the UN Resolutions are General Council resolutions and have no legal weight, nor is Israel obligated to do them. They are simply an outgrowth of the structure of the UN, who take votes now and again to flex the muscles of the Arab, Muslim and 3rd world voting blocs to curry favor with each other. From our perspective, their views are irrelevant.
I sleep well at night, Jan. You go ahead and wait.

24. 13 Jan Kennedy: Learn Facts before you post nonsense
Israeli presence in Yesha does not constitute "occupation," and moreover, that the U.N. Partition Resolution of 1947 is a "recommendation" and not obligatory.
"Up until 1948, Judea, Samaria and Gaza were a part of the British Mandate. In the 1948 War of Independence, Egypt illegally grabbed the Gaza Strip, and Jordan took Judea and Samaria, the 'West Bank.'
Egypt did not claim sovereignty in Gaza, but Jordan deigned, in 1950, to annex Judea and Samaria.
This annexation was not recognized by international law. The Arab nations objected to it,
In 1967, after the Six Day War, these territories - which were originally meant for the Jewish Nation's National Home according to the Mandate Charter - returned to Israeli control."
in 1988, King Hussein of Jordan rescinded its legal and administrative ties to Judea and Samaria.
"According to international law,"
"Israel has full right to try to populate the entire Land of Israel with dense Jewish settlement, and thus actualize the principles set by the League of Nations in the original Mandate Charter of San Remo in 1920.
At that time, the mandate to the Land of Israel was granted to the British, and the introduction to the mandate charter states clearly that it is based on the international recognition of the historic ties between the Jewish People and the Land of Israel.
Clause II of that mandate charges Britain with 'ensuring the existence of political, administrative, and economic conditions that will guarantee the establishment of the Jewish national home in the Land of Israel.'"
"Even the White Paper of 1922," emphasized the Jewish Nation's rights to the national home in the Land of Israel - while at the same time tearing away almost 80% of the mandate's area on the eastern side of the Jordan and giving it to Emir Abdullah."
There is nothing in international law that requires a Palestinian state between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean - not even the UN Partition Resolution of Nov. 29, 1947.
The fact that the Arab states did not accept the Partition Plan, voids the recommendation of any legal basis.
Resolutions 242 and 338, which call for negotiations and a "withdrawal from territories" (not "withdrawal from THE territories") captured in 1967, are similarly "recommendations."
These resolutions were drawn up under the UN Charter's Clause VI, which deals with non-mandatory recommendations - as opposed to Clause VII resolutions, "which are mandatory, and which deal with a threat to world peace, such as those taken against Iraq."
If by chance you don't understand Intl. Law - you should take a lawyer and file for arbitration and explanations with the T.M.C. Asser Institute on Intl. Law in the Hague.

25. 22: Nameless Fool learn history about Land
1. Nationhood and Jerusalem - Israel became a nation in the 14th century B.C.E. Two thousand years before the rise of Islam.
2. Since 1272 B.C.E. the Jews have had dominion over the land for up to 1,000 years with a continuous Jewish presence in the land for the past 3,300 years.
3. The only Arab dominion since the Arab invasion and conquest in 635 C.E. lasted no more than 22 years.
4. King David founded the city of Jerusalem. Mohammed never came to Jerusalem.
5. For over 3,000 years, Jerusalem has been the Jewish capital. Jerusalem has never been the capital of any Arab or Muslim entity. Even when the Jordanians occupied Jerusalem, they never sought to make it their capital and Arab leaders did not come to visit.
6. Jerusalem is mentioned over 700 times in Tanach, the Jewish Holy Scriptures. Jerusalem is not mentioned once in the Koran.
7. Jews pray facing Jerusalem. Muslims pray facing Mecca (often with their backs toward Jerusalem).
8. In 1854, according to a report in the New York Tribune, Jews constituted two-thirds of the population of that holy city.
9. In 1882, official Ottoman Turk census figures showed that, in the entire Land of Israel, there were only 141 000 Muslims, both Arab and non-Arab.
10. A travel guide to Palestine and Syria was published in 1906 by Karl Baedeker; estimated the total population of Jerusalem at 60,000, of whom 7,000 were Muslims, 13,000 were Christians and 40,000 were Jews.
Did you know that Saudi Arabia was not created until 1913, Lebanon until 1920?
Iraq did not exist as a nation until 1932, Syria until 1941; the borders of Jordan were established in 1946 and Kuwait in 1961.
Any of these nations that would say Israel is only a recent arrival would have to deny their own rights as recent arrivals as well.
They did not exist as countries. They were all under the control of the Turks. Over 80% of the original British Mandate land was given to Arabs without population transfer of Arabs from the land designated for Jews.
