1. Judas tale was antisemitic blood libel. Palestine is similar
Dudu ,   Kfar Sava   (04.07.06)
2. What is this doing on ynet?
Hebrews ,   World   (04.07.06)
We are Hebrews, we do not follow the guy on the stick. He was as much as a messsiah as Brian was a messiah in Life Of Brian. He is dead and he isnt coming back. Peaceful religion my butt, they have converted people by force and killed many of our people aswell as aligning themselves with Edom the ones that killed the guy on the stick.
3. Great article, Ray!
Mo   (04.07.06)
Interesting article and fabulous comparisons.
4. What a crock of Looney toons
Michael U ,   SF,CA   (04.07.06)
This Judas thing just blows more holes in the story of the false Messiah who is called Jesus. All the gospels can be disproved, and they were written so long after the supposed person named Jesus lived. There was no National Revelation as there was to the Jewish nation, so everything written in the gospels is hearsay. There are other 'hidden' gospels of Xtianity, and they probrobly make Xtianity more confused. This is the reason the Jews didn't get fooled by this charlatan. If ray is so upset about Bush and Cheney maybe he should move to Iran where he will feel at home. Oh, this schlub is a humorist, this was supposed to be funny... HAHAHAHA the joke is on ray... 5. Let me teach you something, Hanania
Ron ,   LA   (04.07.06)
"Jesus was well known to the Romans and to the Jewish priests who were angry because Jesus, a Rabbi, was calling himself "God's son."" Human, translated to hebrew is ben adam. Ben means son and adam means man. So every human is actually son of man. This misconseption comes from ignorance of Hebrew. Frankly very amusing article. What Judas story has to have with Bush? And for heaven sake, why "Most clear-thinking Americans, mainly on the left, believe Bush was merely doing what he was told by his Svengooli, Dick Cheney." ? Hahania, is it " humor" you doing here or is it a serious piece?I just don't get your humor...
6. Hanania, please explain
Ron ,   LA   (04.07.06)
"We didn't have to discover a crumbling text written in the ancient language of the NeoCons" Q1: What is the ancient language of the "NeoCons"? Hebrew? Yidish? Ladino? Q2: Who are those " NeoCons"? Any names? Q3: Whats the difference between " NeoCons" and regular concervatives? Any specifics?Do they have a different ideology then a regular mortar conservative, what's the main difference? Hanania, honestly, can you explain yourself in plain, simple English? We wait for the answers, Hanania.
7. Pagan Roots to Christianity
ER ,   Canada   (04.07.06)
This story of Judas is in keeping with the early Christian (Pagan) view that the “flesh” is evil and the spirit is good. Jesus was trapped in his worldly body and needed to be released to enter the spirit world. This doctrine spills over into modern Christianity where “things of the flesh” are considered evil. Hence, it is better to deny ones “worldly” desires and abstain from marriage, or fine wine, etc. Of course, this doctrine can have no roots in Judaism, which does not hold these dualistic views. Judaism views the body to be good, and our animal soul (nefish), which is pre-programmed by G-d with certain desires, is no less good than our spiritual soul (neshama) which is invested with free will. If Jesus was a real Jew, he would have had no desire to separate his nefish from his neshama. In fact, this is one point in which Israel was a light to the nations.
8. "Most clear-thinking Americans, mainly on the left..."

Now, putting clear thinking and left in one sentence is really funny. Finally I see the comedian in you, Ray.

Of course if you were a real Christian you would know that.
11. Bush, Cheney and Iraq
bob kirk ,   los angeles   (04.08.06)
Ray Hanania is certainly a comedian and his piece on Cheney as Bush's 'Svengali' is a joke. Hanania condemns what he calls Bush's "illegal" war in Iraq. It surprises me in a way that Arabs and Moslems generally are not thankful that the U.S. overthrew Saddam Hussein. Hussein was responsible, through his wars, for the deaths of around 3 million Moslems. Yet, there were no demonstrations around the Arab and Moslem world calling for Hussein to stop the wars and massacres. The hypocrisy of arabs and Moslems in general is stunning. They mostly condemn Bush for liberating Iraqis from a monstrous dictator yet did not condemn Hussein! Add to that their failure to condemn the massacres in Algeria, Sudan and Palestinian terror attacks and we see what is wrong with the Arab / Moslem world. It is inhumane to Arabs and Muslims as well as to anyone else. One day perhaps tolerance will develop among Arabs and Moslems but that is a long way off.

Do you expect an award-winning Palestinian Arab American journalist answer youe questions?
15. Ray, what a let down!!!
Yehuda ,   USA   (04.08.06)
Ray, I look forward to reading your opinions on the Israeli-Palestinian and Palestinian-Palestinian conflict. Each week you seem to have an opinion on the matter and I'm trying to figure out why you published this column as its not particularly relevant to Israelis or Palestinians.
16. To No. 11 Bob Kirk
NYC Girl   (04.08.06)
You're exactly right about the failure of those who are now condemning our actions in Iraq to speak out against Saddam Hussein. When that monster was murdering and torturing his own people, they were blaming all the suffering on the sanctions. What the hell did the sanctions have to do with it when people were being shoved into recycling shredders (head first or feet first depending on how much you had angered Saddam)? Their hypocrisy is truly astounding.
17. Resons to Judas Gospel Begs Questions
Jonny Mae ,   Hamilton, Ontario   (04.08.06)
Ray Hanania, I thought this was supposed to be an article about the newly re-discovered Judas text, not a political rant about Bush's silly doctrine. Focus on the subject. Jon
18. stupid...
Dave ,   Michigan   (04.08.06)
This is the dumbest article I have ever read. I'm on the left, against Bush and Cheney, and still I was expecting something significant about WAY more important issues, like The Gospel of Judas, but instead I got political rambling. Thanks for wasting my time.
19. #10: Daisy: There was no country called Israel too!!
(04.08.06)
There were Jews living in the Holy Land under and were in Power for almost 70 years only..! That is it. Before them the land was full of people and after them the land is full of people... Jews were not the exclusive element in this land, were not, are not, and will not... so get it straight... All the original foloklore in the Holy land is pure palestinian. From food, to your dancing at weddings...
20. Begging the Question
Bruce ,   Lyon, France   (04.08.06)
Sorry for the O/T. You're page topped my Google results but contains my pet peeve. "Begging the question" means asking a question in such a way that any answer given will implicitly assert some other point ("Do you still beat your wife?"); rather than - as it is all too commonly used to express - in reference to a particular issue necessarily raising an adjunctive point, which might be better stated as "suggests the question". Go now, and spread The Word...
21. Oops...let's not forget the Palestinian Bubbemeises

22. Judas Gospel
David ,   LA, The Whore Babylo   (04.08.06)
Here are some clues for you to put the puzzle together. 1) Jesus' brother was ALSO named Judas (do some research and READ the book of John The DEVINE as a BOOK). 2) Jesus' bro named Judas was referred to as the TWIN. 3) Now you see the need for Judas to ID at NIGHT. 4) Judas NOT Jesus died on the cross for his BROTHER. (Love thy brother as thyself) 5) Jesus did not tell Judas the whole plan. Because Headline folks: He did not come here to die, he came to clean up the WICKED Priesthood and Temple. 6) The Wicked c church picked and rewrote to their liking and their bank account -- pay the priest and all is forgiven. HMMMMMMM Now it all fits. Thank the Africans (check out the Ethiopian texts) for burying copies.
23. Lay off the booz Ray

24. #6 Ron in LA....don't expect an answer because
Puzzled ,   U.S   (04.08.06)
if you go back to previous pieces by Hanania he only answers those whom he agrees with. PERIOD. And yes, Ray does answer certain comments so no one can say he does not. As just one example http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3234104,00.html #1 Honest question. No darn answer. Of course he couldn't answer because it would require complete honesty, so there you have it. Anyone can write bullshit even if it is supposedly from ones heart. However, in this world of mixed up facts, false allegations, knee jerk revisionism and complete lies it takes a real person with integrity to stand for truth.....EVEN if that truth hurts. Waiting.....
25. wake up!! please post comments, ok..

26. Good comparisons
(04.08.06)
Thanks Ray for a humorous column on Biblical issues and today's political situations. You could have been tougher on both the Israelis and maybe even drawn the Palestinians into the mix since Hamas seems to be claiming it gets its orders from G-d, too. Asa

29. #19
Jane   (04.08.06)
The name Palestine was a Roman creation for the purpose of erasing the memory of Judea, the Jewish kingdom. The Romans, like you morons, never anticipated the length and depth of the Jewish memory and determination to return to our original home. And trust me, we may like your food, but there is nothing else we have any interest in emulating.
30. Wait till they find Arafat's manuscripts in a couple hundred
(04.08.06)
years. Hanania's future descendant's can tell the left over Jews how he wasn't really such a bad guy. How the Jews asked Yassir to kill them. How the Jews really loved him after all.
