They pretty much came and went.
Ask any academic library that invested in all the necessary hardware about 10 years ago - very, very few books are published exclusively on CD, only as CD supplements to hard copy.

10. Re: Books on CD --in hebrew?!
Martin, I and others I know have been looking everywhere for books on CD here (in hebrew). All that you can find are hebrew books (and very few of those) on the old cassette tapes --and who even owns a cassette player anymore! Do you know if they will have them in hebrew? I'll move into this bookstore if so! :)
