Foreign Ministry presents: Cool Israel    Itamar Eichner
31. All This Hatred
As someone who is secular, but strongly grounded in Jewish tradition and identity, these postings make me very sad. Why can't Israel be forward looking and modern but also spiritual and religious? I live in New York, I'm not religious,l but I have many friends who are Orthodox. I go to shabbat meals, spend holidays with them etc. And I also have my secular friends. And you know what? I've gone to bars and clubs with my Orthodox friends AND my secular friends. In the U.S. we don't have this ridiculous division between religious and secular. Maybe because of the conservative and reform which serve as a bridge. We're all in this together, and we all face a common threat!

32. #31 It goes both ways, and its not going the right way
The GOV is giving up our holy sites and allowing them to be desecrated, we are allowing gays, lesbians to prance around on Jerusalem. If you allow extreme secular ideas, you have to balance it out with religious Torah values too. So it goes both ways if you want it like that!!

33. I hope Lev leaves Israel
It is shocking that someone living in the holy land is so callous and uncaring for G-d that he desecrates his name in a public forum. What shame. This Lev schlub calls Hashem a myth. What is this person doing living in the holy land. He should move out and let someone who loves the creator breath the air of Tel Aviv. Without G-d there would be no state of Israel, without G-d there would be no world. This Lev is so powerful he laughs in the face of his maker, in his very hold land. Not that I believe in curses, but I think that G-d will punish this Lev character in a way that he will KNOW that Hashem reigns... I pray for the peace of Jerusalem daily, and will make it my home...

34. Waste of time: cosmogirl & Co. speaks well of islamist place
This is a waste of time and money. Here in Spain, journalists will speak bad about Israel for two main reasons: they are anti-semitic and they are paid by Arab organizations for doing so. MTV, Cosmogirl (a supposed feminist publication) & Co. speaks great of places where women wear burqas and men go to te mosque 5 times a day. Way past cool, huh? Israelis need to convince themselves that there's nothing they can do to get accepted. Other than getting gassed. One of the first things I learned at 15s is that you cannot get accepted anywhere. Its the same for Israel.

38. #34 You've got an attitude problem
Israel is a great country. The people and the diversity are incredible. Where the past meets the present all under one roof. Experience it. #34 come to Israel and chill out on a warm beach. Leave MTV and Cosmogirl behind.

39. Everyone will learn to accept them 34#
When a small country like Israel has 400 nuclear warheads to distribute to all the Jew killers----what's not to accept. Those anti semitic countries can appreciate the power of the sun, lighting up their miserable existance. Who ever said anyone had to like their next door neighbor anyways? Israel is number one. The best culture-the best people. Screw the anti semitic Europeans. They have so much to be proud of. They like the Arabs, have expelled Jews, displaced Jews, and treated other humans miserably throughout their history. Who needs the Europeans anyways?

40. open your mind!
unbelievable, all this negative thinking. i like the idea of showing the world one of the many faces of israel that is not really known, but if you like it or not, it is a big part of modern erez israel. i would go even further and try to show the world not only the european (or if you like - the american) face of the country, but also the arab one. make sure the world understands that that there is many israeli arabs playing a very important part in giving this country a positive face!
nanni   (05.02.06)
41. repy #40 (nanni)
Uh, Nanni, can you refresh my memory on how Israeli Arabs provide Israel with a positive face? What very important part do they play in Israel? Ferrying suicide bombers?
sk ,   USA   (05.04.06)
42. sk, i say open your mind!
is every orthodox jew an evil person because of neturei karta???? no. so, is every israeli arab a jew-hater and suicidebomber-collaborator because there is a few of them working against us? NO! fact, they belong to history as much as we do.
nanni   (05.04.06)
43. #42: nanni: you haven't answered the question
Nanni, I asked how so-called Israeli Arabs provide Israel with a positive face. Your suggesting that I open my mind does not answer the question. Do you really think tourists come to Israel to see Arabs? Incidentally, Neturei Karta is a tiny, tiny minority. Israeli Arabs who themselves as "Palestinian" are the MAJORITY. The fact that suicide bombers get through checkpoints so often is surely because one the Pals in the group has Israeli citizenship. We are not talking about a tiny, tiny minorty. A few exceptions do not disprove a statistical generalization.
sk ,   USA   (05.13.06)
44. no need to answer the question...
...to someone like you. i am telling you, arabs are not only suicide bombers. if you do not like my comparison with neturei karta, so leave it. no sense in trying to tell you that for example ha'ir ha attica jerusalaim has a lot of charm (and this mainly for the toursist) because of its arab shops and coffees. if the whole city would look like the jewish quarter, noone would come and visit. i insist: open your mind. and believe that this is a fair anwer to your question.
