1. Victory for terrorism?
Micha ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.11.06)
It is incomprehensible that Israel intends giving large parts of the Land of Israel to our enemies. It will not achieve peace. It will not improve security. It will, however, strengthen the hands of an enemy whose written and stated goal is to destroy the State of Israel. A withdrawal from the West Bank will be perceived by the Palestinians in exactly the same way they perceived the retreat from Gaza, i.e., they will understand it to be a victory for the intifarda. In short, they will celebrate it as a victory for terrorism. And what will happen then?
2. It's not so complicated
(05.11.06)
Firing shells at places where rockets are being launched from doesn't do anything because the terrorists are no longer there. Withdrawing from the West Bank will not be a problem if rocket fire is met with a serious crushing response. Let the palestinian civilians know that if they permit terrorists to launch rockets from their neighborhoods, they will suffer. I'm not talking about arbitrarily killing civilians. What I mean is that for every rocket launched, a building should be destroyed. Ample warning should be given so that bystanders can leave the area, and then the IAF should level the building. Pretty soon the palestinians will not be able to afford to allow terrorists to operate in their neighborhoods. The palestinian people are not helpless to stop the terrorists, they just need to be given sufficient motivation.
3. abu ouadi: how does allah help you when israeli bombs you?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (05.11.06)
i'll bet he doesn't talk about "allah's help" when israel is eliminating the terrorist leaders one by one.
4. The "Arafat 1"Rocket is load with $s -can reach Swissbank

5. no. 2 naive
RobertK ,   Jerusalem   (05.11.06)
This sounds like wishful thinking and I can't believe you're this naive. Even if Pal. civilians formed neighborhood committees against rocket-launching terrorists, they wouldn't be effective. Israel would make itself a laughingstock by blowing up an empty building in return for rocket strikes that in some cases will kill and injure Israelis and damage vital infrastructure. It has never been the case that you win a war by retreating. Especially with this kind of thinking behind it, there is also no moral justification for driving tens of thousands of Jews from their homes--and what you get in return is gravely worsened security.
6. New elections coming
Arie   (05.11.06)
The public is quickly becoming aware that the Olmert team is nothing more than the Peres-Arafat team in disguise. A new election is coming
7. Peretz is what???????
Yoel Ariel ,   US   (05.11.06)
Rocket threat? There's a rocket threat? Who knew? Must be those damned "Jew settlers" and their kids shooting things at decent law abiding Israelis, from stolen Palestinian land that they mysteriously appeared on, completely unsupported or encouraged, and without the knowledge of any Israeli government. They're the REAL threat to law, order, and the socialist way of life
8. Rotten in Denmark
Sam Weinstein ,   USA   (05.11.06)
Based on this article there are only three reasons I can think of. One is understandable if it is indead it. But if it is for the other two reasons then the Israeli Goverment and her leaders need to know that they will have to live with their consence if rockets from Gaza and Judea and Sumaria kill innocents and if Civil unrest occurrs one day. So we have to ask the Goverment what is your motivation? No other country in the world would allow this so why us? This is only a opinion.
9. There is NO THREAT from pathetic plastic Qassams!
Dude   (05.11.06)
10. #2, what?
Khalid ,   Gaza   (05.11.06)
"Let the palestinian civilians know that if they permit terrorists to launch rockets from their neighborhoods, they will suffer." How do you think it works? Do you think terrorists line up outside launching sites and civillians give them the green light to throw rockets? Or maybe just before the launching sites there are civillian-manned checkpoints that check terrorists ID to make sure they are terrorists, then we allow them to launch Qassams.
11. THE SKY IS FALLING,THE SKY IS FALLING,NO ITS NOT--BOOM!!!

12. Right Net Daily at it again...
Michael Steiner   (05.11.06)
Did Tzaha"l presence in Aza stop the rockets on S'derot? No. So what makes anyone think that Tzaha"l's presence in the West Bank is going to stop the development and eventual launching of such rockets either??? This is rightist scarestory propaganda, with no basis in logic, whose only purpose is to defend the land fetish a few people have.
