Hebrew Book Week to open June 7    Tzvi Zinger
1. Lamrot ha 'alimut, yisraelim magivim b'kriya`
Despite the violence, Israelis respond with reading. Strengthening their minds and intuition with books. Thats why we Jews and Israeli citizens succeed: we surround ourselves with books at a young age, develop our God-given intellectual skills (which all human beings are endowed with and capable of actualizing) and utizlize them to prosper ourselves and help others. Despite the matzav, the killings, and the stress, we release books and foster debate and curiousity. Kol HaKavod. For all the Israel bashers that say "apartheid, racist, Nazi-like Israel" why are some of the books in other languagues, including Arabic?

2. More information
Couldn't we have a bit more information in an article of this kind? For instance, information about the breakdown into kinds of books published, about the reading habits of Israelis. One strong impression I have is that while there is a very rich selection of 'sipporat' fiction and poetry, there is not enough published in non- fiction including scientific literature.
