Stop worrying already. Abbas is a great humanitarian who has dedicated his entire life and sacrificed the lives of countless palestinian children for the palestinian cause. He deserves weapons. And he is a very accountable and responsible man. You can trust him with money from america or europe, weapons, creating jobs, stopping terrorism, keeping a good standard of living in palestinian jails....lets face it, he is my hero. I am disappointed in the reaction of the Diaspora and people living in Israel proper to this news report. I'm affected not so much by the negativity per se, but more so because most folk see this as something out of the ordinary and calamitous behavior. I find this condemnation very similar to the negative reaction that U.S. Pres. Bush receives in the US and elsewhere for carrying foreign policies that have been steady in scope, if not methodology, across both US political parties for the past 110 years. The tragic mistake here may indeed, have been disclosure and nothing more. Albeit, readers will frame issues and assign preferential valuation based on reflexive instincts-The reception dilemma of the good news bad news dichotomy. Furthermore, arming Hamas had a direct effect on the demise fo the PLO. I contend that it is better to have an enemy that puts its cards on the table than one that hides cards under his sleeves. The myriad of contingencies in such a precarious world as ours are not always either or, if they were so, bread would be both free and vegan. The irony here is again, through the intellect, cunning and sacrifices of such men and women, the people of Israel are able to come on this forum and criticize these exact leaders vehemently. Let FATAH take some of the weapons away from the lunatics they have attacking Israelis and use those weapons to supply the force that protects Fatah's leader. Fatah has plenty of weapons. It is not Abbas that I am worried about. Abbas is completely passive. But Gaza/WB are awash in guns, and adding any guns to that mess will not protect him any better than he is now. It will just add more guns that will be used against Israelis the 1st time he fails to restrain a lunaticsamong his own people.
