it's clear this pope doesn't have any answers about what caused the holocaust and why god didn't stop it.. the fact he put his questioning of his religion and his god out there in public at auschwitz shows that he has some guts, and is very troubled by not finding any answers in catholicism. the pope said in his autobiography he became a priest because of the holocaust. what exactly does this mean, i wonder? has his life been a search for a distant, unreachable god?

Before I knew what the Pope had said at this place of horror that human kind created of it's own free will, I looked for it because I suspected that he would say something ignorant. I wasn't surprised that men would ask, how; The LORD could keep silence and tolerate this?
