There are still families in hotels, the caravans are not all built, the ones that are - are already falling apart, most people have received only a meager advance on compensation and for hundreds of families no homes are being built, there are no permits and community plans are still in the early planning stages. I'm so happy he thinks he did a good job and can move on - as one of many, who is struggling just to buy groceries with no income, to make it through the day - while being hounded for more and more proof that we actually lived in our homes - the process becomes more and more demeaning every day. I'm glad that Bassi can sleep well - he helped see to it that none of us can - or will for a very long time.

From what I heard, there is a certain well-known politician in Israel, who was brought into his Government by Ariel Sharon, who apparently thought that the United States was going to fund the Gush Katif resettlement. Then came Hurricane Katrina, several weeks later, and the United States Congress did not appropriate money for the "man-made" victims. So Yonatan Bassi did not have the money in order to fulfill his "promises." Maybe Israelis who live in Judea and Samaria will think twice before falling for the "bait" like a stupid animal.
