If he was on one of those one year program things for foreign students, and if they are like TAU, there are virtually no entry standards. They are operated for profit, and to "introduce Jewish kids from the Diaspora to Israel." Again, thank goodness no Israeli soldiers had to die for this j@ck@ss.
6. You stole my line! Bright - NOT!
(06.11.06)
But I wouldnt be surprised if he ins'nt straight either. Looks the type.
7. Pawnstar or Sympatiser

Don't try to dump him off on ours! Maybe we can match him up with that silly twit, I mean twat, I mean twit, whatever that ran off to Jordan
9. Kidnapping Israelis is totally legit now
Sam ,   London, UK   (06.11.06)
or is it that only Israelis are allowed to kidnap people and throw them in nameless prisons hidden in nameless places?! I just wonder why the Palestinians are still too lazy to do it!
10. Sam
Caligula's Horse ,   Solomon's stables   (06.11.06)
You're an idiot. Besides, he's not even Israeli (but he's Jewish to yeah kill him then I guess).
11. Harsh words
Talia ,   CA   (06.11.06)
To all of the previous posters: Such harsh words attacking Benjamin! Thank G-d the student was not hurt. Why so full of anger? Because he "liked the local culture" and was something of a peacenik? Why should he be blamed because terrorists kidnapped him? Who do you blame every time there is a suicide bombing in Israel: the terrorists or the victims?
12. He must be thrown from Israel at once
Yariv ,   Tel Aviv   (06.11.06)
And his parents must pay big fine. Why do we get this kind of garbage?

I'll tell you why. This stupid space cadet couls have been responsible for the deaths of Israeli soldiers who would have attempted to save him, and Israeli civilians in the subsequent chain of revenge attacks back and forth. But I don't live in CA where I can credit the happy end to some kind of "divine intervention." What makes this clown deserve more divine intervention than, say, Ron Arad?
14. #11 He placed others at risk!!!
Logic ,   Israel   (06.11.06)
Talia, it has nothing to do with him being a peacenick. Even though he is responsible for his own behavior, unfortunately, Israel is also defacto responsible for the safety of stupid tourists who get themselves in big trouble, whether it be sitting with the enemy, or getting lost in the desert. In many cases, a rescue unit is forced into action. As a student of Brown University (ivy league and high SAT scores), he should have had the smarts to open up a Lonely Planet guide and read the Ynet once in a while.

Because his parents are even bigger idiots than he is. They think that sending their troubled kids to Israel will cure them of all ills. All it does is transfer the problem from them to us. As I said in an earlier post, have him declared persona non grata so he will never trouble us again.
16. Arabs realized beheadings are out of fashion now
Jew ,   Eretz Israel   (06.11.06)
And it wouldn't score them propoganda points. That's why the idiot got lucky. Unless the whole thing was a hoax.
17. Not out of fasion.
yitzchak909 ,   Maale Adumim, Israel   (06.11.06)
Beheadings are not out of fasion... the only thing that saved his stupid hide was being american.
18. Smoke & Mirrors
Sammy Sneed   (06.11.06)
How do you say "false flag" in Hebrew? Let's see, Fishbein - an orthodox Jew - speaks Arabic but doesn't speak Hebrew. According to his own account, he went to Nablus for its beauty but the Israeli authorities are not certain whether he was lured there or taken there by force.
19. Talia...you're an idiot
Michelle   (06.11.06)
This student could have cause Israeli soldiers to lose their lives. He's an idiot and so are you.

Talia doesn't seem to give a flying about Israeli soldiers or citizens. Only about the right of American Jews to play conqueror.
21. kidnapped?
Hilda ,   USA   (06.12.06)
Something about this story smells funny. He speaks Arabicand just wandered off into Arab territory? Religious? These puzzle parts do not fit together. Was he kidnapped or was he a willing participant in a little lark? IF I were Israeli police, I would check into any organizations he might belong to. He smells like an Ism worker.---else how did he escape the decap? Being American didn't save Danny Pearl or even Nick Berg.

I don't recall any instances of beheading in the Palestinian Authority. And the differences between Daniel Pearl and Nicholas Berg and why they were where they were are wide indeed. True they were both Jewish and both died horribly, but those are the only similarities. And why shouldn't he speak Arabic? The Arabs in the occupied territories speak Hebrew.
