2. Only in Israel? If a person is RIGHT he is called "RIGHTIST"
Nebojsa Yitzchak M ,   Toronto   (06.14.06)
As oposed to the what? KAPO?
3. double Standard
Ben ,   Israel   (06.14.06)
why is dana olmert not being prosecuted, what she said at the demonstration in front of Amir peretz's home was a lot worse than what Nadia Matar said, especially since what Dana Olmert said is untrue. The State has left those expelled from Gush Katif as displaced persons and has not even provided them with the comforts the Allies provided the people in the DP camps! Shame on our gvt.!
4. "Peace Not" & other extreme leftists
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (06.14.06)
Shulamit Aloni, Uri Avnery, Aliza & Dana Olmert and other assorted freaks from the "Peace Not" and "Machsom Watch" gangs, not to mention the Arab MK's have been calling IDF "Nazi" for years. Why aren't they on trial?
5. Nadia Matar
NYC Girl   (06.14.06)
I don't even agree with her ideology, but this situation makes me feel a lot more sympathetic toward her, particularly in view of Dana Olmert's idiotic rantings.
6. Theres NO Freedom of Speech
(06.14.06)
You can also be imprisioned for months at a time without any given reason and many times they can just make false aquisations so your voice will be silent. And this is only for Jews - religious Jews, NEVER EVER EVER do they silence Moslems
7. Such a democracy.
(06.14.06)
8. clever Bolsheviks should dismiss this case
sk ,   USA   (06.14.06)
This prosecution is so outrageous that (so far) even the usual suspects from the loonly left don't want anything to do with it. I support Women in Green. Regardless, this prosecution shows more clearly than anything else could show, that Israel is no democracy.
9. Only 100 people joining and supported her...
keren ,   sao paulo   (06.14.06)
...it is far from be enough. All People of Israel who cares about such fundamental things this woman is fighting for, should be there supporting her. And about Rabbi statement(repeated next),I bet this opression started after 1993, with the fatidic Oslo road map plan. The only way to implement this evil plan is destroying those who oppose it,doesn't matter the means used to achieve it :slander,humiliation,poverty... anything! What matters is to shut them up,and keep the less wise ones deluded in american fantasies and mediatic left ideas. "It is scandalous. Freedom of speech is oppressed, just like in the cases of the soldier Hananel, the closing of channel 7, and the hearing that was held for Rabbi Druckman... "
10. Prof. Yuval Ne'eman ....
chanan   (06.14.06)
so Meshiach is already arrived... if the late Yuval Ne'eman was also among the supporters of Nadia Matar. Next time you write an article do your homework first.
11. Silencing of the lambs
Steve ,   USA   (06.14.06)
B"H I see this Natar "trial" as more silencing of the lambs. Those with greater insults are left off the hook on account of political affiliation only. As a part of a process of imposing world order (not democracy), the nobles become more noble at expense of the sheep that are led to their ... A nice article detailing the current situation is found at: http://www.israelnationalnews.com/news.php3?id=105410 Nadia defends herself eloquently in an article: http://www.israelnationalnews.com/article.php3?id=6275 In comparison, the standard for free speech set by Dana is referenced in the article: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3261562,00.html ‘Women in Green’ file complaint against Olmert’s daughter Members of the “Women in Green” movement filed a petition with Jerusalem police against Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s daughter, Dana Olmert, and her colleagues who protested opposite IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Dan Halutz’ house Saturday. Some 200 protestors called Halutz a “murderer.” According to Women in Green member, “If the chairman of our movement is standing trial for insulting public workers for calling Yonatan Bassi Judenrat, there is not doubt the attorney general must try Olmert and her friends. (Efrat Weiss) The broader issue of free speech supression is covered in this article: http://www.israelnationalnews.com/news.php3?id=105370
12. Nadia Will Win For Sure
Adina kUtnicki ,   US   (06.14.06)
At the end of the day Nadia & her lawyers will destroy the goons trying to squash her Also Dana needs to stand trial for her seditious activities!
13. PRIME MINISTER'S DAUGHTER Declares: 'INTIFADA SHALL PREVAIL'
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (06.14.06)
In Israel, patriotic Jews are punished and beaten whilst international elites, powerful Israelis and Islamists work towards the destruction of the world's only Jewish state. YNETNEWS (06.10.06, 21:07) PM's daughter protests Gaza killings Dana Olmert takes part in left-wing demonstration outside army chief's house; protesters call Halutz 'murderer,' declare 'intifada shall prevail.' Meanwhile, human rights groups send letter to PM, defense minister, calling on them to stop war crimes in territories Avi Cohen ...The demonstrators chanted slogans such as "Tzahala residents, there's a murderer in your neighborhood," and raised signs calling on the government to "put a stop to the murder of civilians" and stating, "Halutz is a killer, the intifada shall prevail."... Dana Olmert, the daughter of Israel's Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, also took part in the demonstration... http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3261125,00.html In the war against Jews and all humanity, the Prime Minister's daughter is a valuable propaganda asset in inspiring terrorists around the world: the Israeli Prime Minister's daughter declares with other Israelis, the 'Intifada Shall Prevail'. And the encouragement to massively increased terrorism and the conquest of all Israel: Olmert's planned surrender to Islamists of 95% of militarily strategic Judea and Samaria-vitally needed for Israel's defense. Dana Olmert is active in Machshom Watch, who do their utmost to prevent the IDF from doing their job at checkpoints: stopping terrorists infiltrating into Israeli cities. Aliza Olmert, the Prime Minister's wife, is a member of Israeli Women in Black, who want Jews forcibly removed from Judea, Samaria and areas of Jerusalem. Aliza has been in Peace Now.

What about Prof. Moshe Zimmer- man's comments....the hypocrisy is so blatant.
15. Ehud's Double Standard
tinashkuli   (06.15.06)
I guess everyone has a right to their opinion, as long as they're related to Ehud!! Olmert defends daughter Ehud Olmert came to the defense of his daughter after she was shown taking part in a demonstration. Danna Olmert was among 200 protesters who rallied in Tel Aviv on Saturday under the slogan “Stop Murdering Civilians,” a reference to the killing of at least seven Palestinians in what appeared to have been an Israeli artillery barrage on a Gaza Strip beach. Images of the prime minister’s daughter were splashed across Israeli media, just as Olmert himself was defending the military measures employed against Palestinian rocket attacks. “Every person has a right to his or her opinion,” Olmert told reporters accompanying him to London on Sunday. http://jta.org/page_view_breaking_story.asp?intid=3063
16. Judge Nadia Matar by the standards of Israeli society.
Anthony David Marks ,   Tel Aviv   (06.15.06)
In Israel's Knesset it is quite common for one 'honorable' member to call another 'honorable' member terrible things but all these insults are somehow tolerated. Honorable Knesset members make the laws of the country. In other words, they set the standards by which others are judged. Everyone knows rules have to be uniformly applied. One cannot select individuals and apply a standard to them while ignoring others who commit similar infractions. Respect is very important in any society but people have to be judged by the level of respect that is openly tolerated in the society. In Israel, unfortunately, the level of respect is rather low. From much personal experience, I can give plenty of examples. Nadia Matar should be acquited without delay. Raise the standaards of Israeli sociey before trying to judge her.
17. Why not publish Nadia's entire letter?
Shoshana Rubin ,   Nokem   (06.15.06)
Since YNet's article is about Nadia's hot letter which got her in trouble in the first place, why didn't the esteemed YNet-messenger of Israeli democracy, publish her entire letter? Why did they edit it instead of letting YNet's viewers read it? Does YNet consider its readers to be ignorant?
18. Free speech in Israel/USA is for liberals and leftists ONLY
Jenny   (06.15.06)
Ridiculous hypocrisy. I am disgusted. I don't agree with Matar's opinions either but I agree with her right to free speech. Why is it only leftists and Arab Knesset members are free to put down the Israeli gov't.? Did an Arab Knesset member not call Leiberman a Nazi some weeks ago? Where are the lawsuits? Did one of the Machsom watch idiots not post an article at YNET calling the IDF nazis? Again, where are the lawsuits? Blatant hypocrisy and i am ashamed at Israel.
19. Nadia Matar should be the Prime Minister of Israel!
Daisy ,   USA   (06.15.06)
This woman is courageous and brave which is something Israel need right now.

21. different people have different mames
Vladimir ,   Rehovot   (06.17.06)
Prof. Yuval Neeman z"l has not attended the meeting for a natural reason. He has not as well been awarded Nobel Price. Probably the names of all Right-wing scientists seem to be the same for the author.
22. #19
martin ,   stevenage - england   (01.07.07)
why not indeed? after all israel needs desperately a person, male or female of ruth's calibre. the freedom of sopeech allowed in israel is for those on the left as subscribed by the left wing establishment in israel.. if you are of the right, then you can be beaten, imprisoned, expelled etc. yes, no doubt about it, israel is a living jewish democracy for the left and their friends the arabs
23. Insulting a Public Servant
Dr. David Feigenbaum ,   Netanya, Israel   (01.07.07)
I claim that Israeli public servants cannot be insulted. One definition of an insult is, "a remark that is meant to hurt pride." Our public servants are so arrogant that they have no pride.
