Maybe it's because gays are so in-your-face about their "specialness as a community" and shove their sexual practices down everyone's throats like their perversions make them special.
In this case noone for a moment believes this lady was having intercourse with the dolphin. We may think her ceremony was meaningful or ludicrous but she wasn't taking a stand for her right to practice bestiality.
