Arie   (06.18.06)
You're afraid the palis will be on your borders formenting the same anarchy and terrorism they are well known for
2. "all arab states to oppose realignment"
Arie   (06.18.06)
Shouldn't be difficult. All arab states oppose Israel. The only reason abdullah and mubarak state their "rcognition" of our State is because they see us as their shield defending them against traditional pali terrorism
3. unemployment

Funny how one day you're a king and the next day you're out of a job.
4. Abdullah, Mubarak oppose! How typical of
Riv ,   Jerusalem   (06.18.06)
spineless dictators, even ones the US seems to sanitize portraying they are something other then what they really are. Ripe for democracy, yah! Right! When these spineless dictators acquire the balls to look in the eyes of Abbas and tell him to change for the sake of good that is when this cheap grade b play will convince me otherwise. Furthermore, when the US acquires the balls to tell them so, that will be the day! Until then the little king (who despite being married to a so-called Palestinian while despising palestinians) courts the favor of the US and the king of black hair dye (who has allowed weapons to be smuggled from his kingdom of oppression to kill Jews and gets away with it )will continue posturing for the crowds. (getting away with it!) War on terror.........LOL!! War against the hearts and minds of truth and freedom...........YOU BET!
5. Guys, they agree with you!
Shai ,   T-A   (06.18.06)
I don't understand : arabs and europeans oppose the realignment you oppose. You should rejoice! the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
6. If Israel not interested, who is?
Steve ,   USA   (06.18.06)
B"H If Olmert and the population centers are not interested in the territory East of Olmert's fence, who is? Is it Jordan at this time? Not really. The Arabs are armed to the teeth so Jordan would face an armed struggle if the Jews are pulled out. The Jews are calming the situation down and are a tremendous resource to the region. The territory of Jordon is very tempting for those Arabs living East of Olmert's fence. There are Arabs in the area who are also a tremendous resource. This is something that I really think those living in the area need to realize. For example, were it that each field were as much something that could be shared Jew or Arab and this were a year of rest, then it could be that the Jews and Arabs interested in getting out from under the dictatorships would switch clothing and homes, a house exchange. In that manner, if the IDF comes to take people into Israel, these are the Arabs that go within the green line and the Jews are left outside to calm the situation down. It is a win-win situation for the Arabs and for the Jews. The Arabs get into Israel and get housing, get out from under their dictators in favor of Omert, and the Jews get to keep maintaining the precious land, keeping it out of the hands of Syria. It probably benefits Olmert also. He has "nicer" uprooted company, except for the fact that they would eventually arm themselves, whereas the Jews are demonized if ever they approached that move, for the same reason of wanting to keep property. The distinction between the Arabs and the Jews are that the Arabs are permitted arms to offend or defend with whereas the Jews are not permitted such arms. That being so, if the Jews switch their clothing to that of Arabs and drop their ID cards, then they would have access to that armament in the world press, that would always photograph the clothing and not really care about the actions. When was the last time a rocket launching was condemned from Gaza, since the area is now resticted only to Arabs? The Jews could even retake that area in Arab clothing, because the media feeds on interest and not fact. I see it as boiling down to whether the government is local, or based out of Syria, outside the territory of Israel. This has always been the question, whether the core of Judiasm is within Israel or outside, and now similarly with the Arabs. I think that a local government is of common interest to the Arabs and the Jews living in that area so that the land is defended instead of being raped by foreign intruders. Perhaps when the local Arabs awaken to how badly they have been manipulated by the chiefs, they will see the benefits of a locally-imposed peace. I have no faith in staged negotiations at high levels. This peace is going to happen at the grassroots level, because the higher levels are interested in maintaining warfare and strife to keep their grip on power. That is why the PA was imported. There was too much peace in the region, and some more strife had to be exacerbated to help the respective governments stay in power. If there are wolves in sheep clothing, why not have a few sheep in wolve's clothing?
7. Israeli re-alignment = an act of theft
Ellen Prescott ,   Southsea, Hampshire   (06.18.06)
There is no such thing as unilateral peace. As long as Israel refuses to co-operate with the democratically-elected Palestinian government, builds the illegal Apartheid Wall and Settlements, kill innocents haphazardly in the illegally occupied territories and imprison an entire nation, there will never be peace. And Olmert's plan of borders on the line of the Apartheid wall, over 10 per cent of Palestine, control of water, and no mention of the refugees is disgustingly pathetic.
8. Re #7 Yes, but there is unilateral war, right?
Steve ,   USA   (06.18.06)
B"H Ellen, I hear you blaming Israel for not cooperating and saying that there is no unilateral peace. Right now there is no unilateral peace, because missiles are being lobbed at Sderot. It looks more like unilateral war. But let us probe that more. There is a division between the PA and Hammas with weapons east of Olmert's fence, hardly what anyone would consider a "government". It does have the benefit of fomenting violence between Arabs and Jews, however, making the "government" seem more important. Imprisoning an entire nation would mean that there is a nation to define. Where is the seat of that Hamas nation which you favor? Syria is where Hamas is based! Syria is hardly imprisonned Ellen. It is run by a ruthless dictator who runs prison camps within and outside the dictator's state territory. Under Hammas, there are no refugees, but just those who Syria has inside its prison camps inside its territory versus those it would like to move into prison camps outside of its territory. Why should Jews or Arabs agree to be the Syrian dumping ground? To threaten Jordan or Egypt further? Even if I were an Arab, I could not see how what you are saying is of any benefit. Convince me Ellen. I know you can say some pretty strong things.

The best way for these two "leaders" to see their objections of Olemrt's plan come to fruition is to support the settlers and give them the sympathy they deserve.

why do you discredit the bbc? why did you choose the name precott-were you inspired by the deputy primi minister's controversial affair? there is no professor working at portsmouth called prescott? go back to being a moderator on the bbc discussion point.

15. Once again, Arabs tear down rather than build.
David ,   Boston, USA   (06.18.06)
Rather than trying to built their economies, they prefer to spend energy attempting to kill Jews and destroy Israel. Jordan Palestine is enough. End theft of Jewish land by Arabs! Finish the peace fence and cut off the arabs. If they want peace they should be constructive. All they have shown in their racism and bombs. How sad. Keep them out. Just like with the success of the Great Wall of China these enemies will eventually disappear in time and all that will remain is Israel.
16. Israel has the power
Debbie ,   Sydney ,Australia   (06.19.06)
Well the Egyptians and Jordanians think Israel should show more 'collaboration' with the Palestinians. After years of trying to 'collaborate' Israel has justifiably taken the reins in determaning its future. Good on them !
17. New plan. Israel gets all land, Egypt gets all "palestinians

18. how ironic
Yisraeli   (06.19.06)
Israel wants to capitulate, Israel wants to create and enemy state within her own country, Israel wants to surrender her righfully owned lands and what does the enemies say No No you cant do that! LOL, you know this alone proves there must be a higher power at work here, this alone proves the supernatural. Simply AMAZING.

20. Arab Theft Of Jewish Land
Joe Levi ,   Los Angeles. USA   (06.19.06)
Lets get real, to those who say the Jews are stealing Arab land, it is just the opposite. 700,000 Jews, many with property, were thrown out of their homes and homelands in 48. They have yet to be compensated. Over 100,000 Arabs, have returned to Israel proper, of the 500,000 plus who thought they would defeat Israel, and return to the dead (and their homes and factories). All of Palestine, to the Iraqi border was designated as the homeland for the Jews. Jordan is an illegal country..it should have been part of "Jewish" Palestine. The Arabs forfeited every bit of land the occupied, in 48, 67 and 73. Israel agreed to UN242, which, in effect, the "convergence" is. The Road Map is moot, the Arabs will never, never compromsie on THEIR absolute demands...they want all of Israel. They claim, back. This conflict is all about power..the Arabs are like Germany's 6th army which attacked Russia...unfortunate for them, the Russians were more powerful. Israel should take the land it needs, agree to negotiate beforehand, then get on with ridding the area of insurgents (Arab). I could care less what Mubarak or Abdullah want..and so should Israel. Given their druthers, Israel would not exist at all...and that's the reality.
21. Get real
muhamm ad Shurafa ,   Detroit, Michigan   (06.19.06)
Those of you wo believe there will ever be total peace, total victory, or to that matter final war are mistaken. Consider the last few Israeli wars. Ther was always external influences that would not allow a total solution. There are other global powers that will never allow it. Look what happened to Mr. Rabin. He was punished for daring to bring a chance for peace to the region. The eight years of peace, 93-2001, were unmistakably the best for the two warring people in the region based on what was published on this website. How do they do it? By inflaming the loud voiced stubborn, fanatic naive minorities on both sides of the fence, and the results are always predictable, supporting more unrest, war ,blood shed and no peace.
22. Ellen
keren ,   sao paulo   (06.19.06)
You said that you don't care about Jews, but you are speaking in a JEWISH SITE and you should answer the questions are being made to you. Right now there are two question/statements directed to you that I WANT TO HEAR what do you think about:one is # 8 and the other is # 20,plus mine that comes next: "...As long as Israel refuses to co-operate with the democratically-elected Palestinian government..." Ellen,Hamas is responsible for hundreds of Jews' deads ,in the form of sending alive bombs into Israel killing Jews in restaurants, buses, markets, etc. Would you negoiciate with the murder of hundreds of members of your own family? Answer me please. "...builds the illegal Apartheid Wall and Settlements..." This is the only way Israel has to better protect itself from attacks, for the moment? Why do you disagree with it,ellen? "...kill innocents haphazardly in the illegally occupied territories and imprison an entire nation..." These are not occupies territories ,Ellen;read Joe's Levi talkback, and the article that I am pointing by the end of my reply. Innocents are killed not intentionally as arabs do at Jews, but as unwilling effcts in a fight for Israel defending itself. What would you do Ellen? They are not "imprisioned",ellen;arabs had inumerous opportunities to deal accords with Israel and they always refused. They could even live there and have Jews as partners and friends, but they REFUSE,because they want Jews thrown into the sea. They have been receiving extraordinaries amounts of money and they NEVER used that to build a decent life for them where they are,but to buy arms to kill jews. What do answer me about this, ellen? And plus, read anwers # 11,16,17,24,27 ,comming from a TRULLY CULT BRITISH MAN,and then show your brain. Otherwise,Ellen, there is NO REASON to keep comming here only to show up your complete ignorance , low educational level ,lack of intelectual refinement and filthy hatred. 24. Re #23, no such site and no such state
Steve ,   USA   (06.19.06)
B"H Hamas is a Syrian-based organization and is not a local state. Your site #23, "www.ftzxs.com" links nowhere in the same manner the "nogotiations" towards "peace progress" do. It is not even an active site link. You highlight the problem succintly on trying to reach a non-entity. The same problem holds in demands for Israel to negotiate with Abbas for peace. Abbas is not capable of responding positively. And neither is Hamas which is a Syrian lackey, with Syria still technically being at war with Israel, and Hamas based out of Syria. It is the same organization whether in Syria or east of Olmert's fence. The link responds with nothing positve from the browser except, "server not found." That is not a very exciting way to make progress, even if Egypt and Jordan demand that sort of progress on the Road Map to blame Israel for failures in the process. The fact is that Syria has never negotiated a settlment because the harrasment of Israel is something it supports. It is hard to expect capitulation to that Syrian state, because it would open a northern front against the population centers if Israel were to do so.
