Where was bibi when sharon pushed thru the dis-engagement. His 11th hour resignation was too little too late. He even voted for some of he dis-engagement bills

Rustum ,   London, UK   (06.22.06)
So Bibi is proud of "having turned the lights of in Beirut". He didn't mention the number of deaths he caused, the number of internal refugees in Lebanon - many of them refugees from Israeli fire-power for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th time. His pathetic and sad boast "when I was prime minister there were no Qassams", reminds one of the Spitting Image skit on the late Queen Mother: "When I was Queen, they put on a war for me". Seriously, reading Netanyahu trying to define what is an "international crime" without making reference to his own destruction of Lebanon is a seriously deficient piece of rhetoric. "The IDF has the ability to wipe out all of Gaza"... well, if that doesn't sound like a mirror image of Ahmedinejad! The politics of posturing oneself to be more anti-Arab, more rabidly anti-peace than the next Israeli politician is a very sad reflection on the body politic of Israel. He's probably playing to the crowds of unthinking moronic racists in Geneva and Santa Monica.
3. Mr. Netanya(who?) - You failed, too!!!
Gerd ,   Germany   (06.22.06)
You are right, nevertheless: "The world must unite around the problem, otherwise it will wake up too late. We must do all we can to remove this threat, he concluded." "The firing of Qassams on Sderot is an international crime, said Netanyahu..."

If you'll notice, there is only one quote in this entire article: "after the future withdrawals from the West Bank, the whole country will face Qassams." This is a true statement as we can see by the results of the pullout from Gaza. The rest of this so-called "reporting" is just ynet slander. Not surprising. But look how it affected you. You quoted Bibi from this article 4 times. Doesn't that make you ponder the power of the media?
7. #6
Rustum ,   London, UK   (06.22.06)
I will not play the paranoia game. The article is full of quotes from Netanyahu - either direct or indirect. I do not believe, for one second, that YNET has an agenda or that its reporters are unable to write reported speech. What is the point you are trying to make? That YNET is distorting Netanyahu's bellicose words? Why woudl they do that? Who gave the orders? If you are going to throw out facile and spurious allegations of journalistic malpractice, then justify your accusations. If you cannot tell teh difference between direct speech and reported speech, then that's your issue - but kindly do not impute that I am unable to read a YNET article without being "duped".

You clearly have no idea of the media's problem with Bibi. Since 1993, the media has portrayed him in, let's just say, their own light. I'm not going to go into why because this is just a talkback, but try reading other sources on Bibi from different perspectives. And yes, the fact that an entire article talks about what a person says in a speech, but only quotes him once, does say something about the reporting.
9. poverty
peter ,   amsterdam, NL   (06.22.06)
Quote:"Netanyahu said that he paid a heavy political price for his economic policy, saying that Israel does not need to develop a policy of poverty." Rather the Israeli poor paid a heavy price for Bibi's economic policy(growth accompanied by growing inequality) and he strives to be the Israeli equivalent of George W.(tax cuts for the rich in the U.S.). The Likud has paid a heavy price for this policy.
10. Bib, keep talking
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (06.22.06)
until the country realizes what a stupid and dangerous idea this 'realignment' plan is!! There is another solution: and that is to offer incentives for the pals to leave. Many of them have already agreed to the idea - that they would leave if offered financial compensation.
11. Chaya's transfer plan
Rustum ,   London, UK   (06.22.06)
"There is another solution: and that is to offer incentives for the pals to leave" It's not actually too difficult to write the whole name "Palestinians" - unless your PC is missing some keys. Secondly - the idea of transfer - whether at gunpoint, at bulldozer point, or with financial incentives - is an idea whose time has passed. The mass transfer of populations is a deeply offensive idea - and Jewish history shows that Jewish communities suffered from this foul concept throughout history. Your proposal for transferring a population is out-moded, racist and not part of the political discourse in any other country. Is it that difficult to see that expelling a whole population is a radically unacceptable proposition. Would you like to be "transferred"? Would an offer of money be enough to make you leave your home?

Jews are the natives and have been for 3,000 years. You were invented in 1967 and so was your false history.
14. Rob's message to Mr Atmawi
Rustum ,   London, UK   (06.22.06)
It must be absolutely galling to have been born a Palestinian and to read a note from Mr Rob of UK telling him that he was "invented in 1967... and so was your false history." How wonderful that from your position in London you can pontificate on whether other people exist or not. I would suggest that you apologise to Mr Atmawi for telling him that he doesn't exist, for attempting to denigrate and exterminate his history, his language, his culture, his religion. I don't believe that Mr Atmawi has told you that you don't exist - it's a nonsensical argument. The settlers in the US didn't tell teh Indians taht they didn't exist (they exterminated them instead), the settlers in Tasmania didn't tell teh aborigines there that they didn't exist (they exterminated them)... One can only presume that telling someone he doesn't exist is a precursor to exterminating him. Well done Rob. You are probably going to vote to war criminal Netanyahu in the hope that he will exterminate a few more of the people whom you don't like.

ALL the PRINCIPALS of the Arabs(& Yours, as well) are to DISTORT History, SHIFT from the SUBJECT, to LIE, to NOT ACCEPT BLACK on WHITE(1947's UN Decision-CLEAR MAJORITY), etc. So, what are you talking about, in SHORT? #6, This Rostum, a TYPICAL Arab, is just UNCAPABLE to ACCEPT the PLAIN TRUTH; Always live in 1001 Nights Stories, Arabs Always, but ALWAYS are masters @ CHANGING things around... Simple as it sounds, "Palestinians" until 1967 in the areas of Judea and Samaria were known as Jordainians, they hads Jordanian IDs and they were part of Jordan, and if you look closely you'll notice that the Palestinian flag is the Jordanian flag (except the Jordanian one has a start which signs the Hashemite monarchy). Do you understand?

WHAT DOES "PALESTINE" MEAN? It has never been the name of a nation or state. It is a geographical term, used to designate the region at those times in history when there is no nation or state there. The word itself derives from "Peleshet", a name that appears frequently in the Bible and has come into English as "Philistine". The Philistines were mediterranean people originating from Asia Minor and Greek localities. They reached the southern coast of Israel in several waves. One group arrived in the pre-patriarchal period and settled south of Beersheba in Gerar where they came into conflict with Abraham, Isaac and Ishmael. Another group, coming from Crete after being repulsed from an attempted invasion of Egypt by Rameses III in 1194 BCE, seized the southern coastal area, where they founded five settlements (Gaza, Ascalon, Ashdod, Ekron and Gat). In the Persian and Greek periods, foreign settlers - chiefly from the Mediterranean islands - overran the Philistine districts. From the time of Herodotus, Greeks called the eastern coast of the Mediterranean "Syria Palaestina". The Philistines were not Arabs nor even Semites, they were most closely related to the Greeks. They did not speak Arabic. They had no connection, ethnic, linguistic or historical with Arabia or Arabs. The name "Falastin" that Arabs today use for "Palestine" is not an Arabic name. It is the Arab pronunciation of the Greco-Roman "Palastina"; which is derived from the Peleshet, (root Pelesh) which was a general term meaning "dividers", "penetrators" or "invaders". This referred to the Philistine's invasion and conquest of the coast from the sea. The use of the term "Palestinian" for an Arab ethnic group is a modern political creation which has no basis in fact - and had never had any international or academic credibility before 1967.

23. History reminder Arabs ignore ALL the times
Gabrielle Goldwater ,   Geneva Switzerland   (06.22.06)
The term "Palestinian" is itself a masterful twisting of history. To portray themselves as indigenous, Arab settlers adopted the name of an ancient Mediterranean tribe, the Philistines ("Invaders" in Hebrew), that disappeared out over almost 3000 years ago. The connection between this tribe and modern day Arabs is nil. Romans, in order to conceal their shame and anger with rebellious regions, changed the references to Judea and Samaria by naming them Palestine. 1. Nationhood and Jerusalem - Israel became a nation in the 14th century B.C.E. Two thousand years before the rise of Islam. 2. Since 1272 B.C.E. the Jews have had dominion over the land for up to 1,000 years with a continuous Jewish presence in the land for the past 3,300 years. 3. The only Arab dominion since the Arab invasion and conquest in 635 C.E. lasted no more than 22 years. 4. King David founded the city of Jerusalem. Mohammed never came to Jerusalem. 5. For over 3,000 years, Jerusalem has been the Jewish capital. Jerusalem has never been the capital of any Arab or Muslim entity. Even when the Jordanians occupied Jerusalem, they never sought to make it their capital and Arab leaders did not come to visit. 6. Jerusalem is mentioned over 700 times in Tanach, the Jewish Holy Scriptures. Jerusalem is not mentioned once in the Koran. 7. Jews pray facing Jerusalem. Muslims pray facing Mecca (often with their backs toward Jerusalem). 8. In 1854, according to a report in the New York Tribune, Jews constituted two-thirds of the population of that holy city. 9. In 1867, Mark Twain took a tour of Palestine. This is how he described that land: A desolate country whose soil is rich enough but is given over wholly to weeds. A silent, mournful expanse. We never saw a human. 10. In 1882, official Ottoman Turk census figures showed that, in the entire Land of Israel, there were only 141 000 Muslims, both Arab and non-Arab. 11. A travel guide to Palestine and Syria was published in 1906 by Karl Baedeker; estimated the total population of Jerusalem at 60,000, of whom 7,000 were Muslims, 13,000 were Christians and 40,000 were Jews. 12. In 1922, with what was widely acknowledged as the illegal separation of Transjordan, the Jews were forbidden to settle on almost 77% of the Palestine, while Arab settlement went unrestricted and encouraged by British mandatory authority. Did you know that Saudi Arabia was not created until 1913, Lebanon until 1920? Iraq did not exist as a nation until 1932, Syria until 1941; the borders of Jordan were established in 1946 and Kuwait in 1961. Any of these nations that would say Israel is only a recent arrival would have to deny their own rights as recent arrivals as well. They did not exist as countries. They were all under the control of the Turks. Over 80% of the original British Mandate land was given to Arabs without population transfer of Arabs from the land designated for Jews.

It would be greatly appreciated it you would stop calling names, stop attributing characteristics to me that do not exist, in fact if you would stop breathing the world would be a better place. So long.
25. To "Rustum"
Rob ,   UK   (06.22.06)
I suggest you learn some basic historical facts before you spew forth your tired rhetoric. The word "Palestinian" was invented post-Six Day War. Fact. There isn't even any "P" sound in the Arabic language. I quote: "I would suggest that you apologise to Mr Atmawi for telling him that he doesn't exist, for attempting to denigrate and exterminate his history, his language, his culture, his religion." His history is warmongering, his language is Arabic and there isn't any "culture" in "Palestine" unless you count the glorification of suicide bombings, execution of homosexuals, and "honour" killings as "culture." And, assuming he's Muslim, Jerusalem has precisely zero relevance to Islam.

Incredible how much rubbish you spout - to speak in the style of Ms goldwasser. Your whole post #25 is one load of total rubbish. I still suggest you apologise to Mr Atmawi - as your interpretation of Palestinian history is no more than the product of a deeply twisted mind full of hatred. As for there being no "P" in Arabic and hence the name Palestine not being able to exist... I'd like you to go an explain that to my former professor of semitic philology at one of the great British universities. I'm sure he'd give you a "first" for your deep and insightful knowledge of philology. I wonder how you explain the Hebrew pronounciation of "falestini" - since it is impossible in Hebrew to start a word with a soft "f" (as opposed to a "p"). Oh, the ever brilliant mind of Rob UK. Obviously English has no name for Baghdad, since we don't have the gutteral "ghayn" in English... shall we continue with this moronic argument? I suggest that you don't exist, the way you have told Mr Atmawi - since you didn't exist before 1930 (whatever your age) and therefore you couldn't possibly exist now. To quote Ms Goldwasser again, the level of your argument is truly pathetic and I believe that Mr Atmawi and a few million of his brethren are waiting for an apology and compensation from you.
30. The JIHAD AGAINST LEBANON'S CHRISTIANS
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (06.22.06)
Lebanon was a Christian country until Muslims achieved a majority through an extremely high birthrate. The jihad against Lebanon's Christians was savage and barbaric. The IDF was the only hope for the embattled Christians. Click on Photo gallery of www.free-lebanon.com, 20,000 Christians handicapped by PLO atrocities. PLO terrorists were rewarded for their savagery and mass murder of Christians by implanting them into Israel as terrorist "peace" partners through Oslo to continue the jihad. The Christians of Damour, Lebanon treated Muslims from surrounding areas free of charge in their hospital. The PLO and other terrorists repaid the Christian kindness with barbaric savagery: The Massacre and Destruction of Damour 'The attack took place from the mountain behind. It was an apocalypse. They were coming, thousands and thousands, shouting 'Allahu Akbar! God is great! Let us attack them for the Arabs, let us offer a holocaust to Mohammad 'And they were slaughtering everyone in their path, men, women and children.' Whole families were killed in their homes. Many women were gang-raped..." http://www.free-lebanon.com/LFPNews/psa/psa.html Satanic acts were perpetrated on Damour Christians.
