Everybody is expressing an opinion. My understanding is, that this operation is as much as to stop rocket fire and to re-establish IDF deterrence, as it is to rescue the captured soldier? So why is this guy saying that as soon as the soldier is released we will leave Gaza?? Why is Olmert saying that this will be a limited operation?? This will end up becoming a 2-day fiasco. Has Israel lost its nerve and its will to fight? This incursion, unless it's thorough and completely smashes the Pal economy will achieve nothing and more than likely will lead to more loss of life. Remember what 3 months of sustained bombing by NATO did to the evil Milosevic regime in the old Yugoslavia in 1999? Brought it to its knees quicksmart. this is what needs to be done now.

In order to gain the respect of the international community, Israel is presenting the rescue of Shalit as a humanitarian effort. Once his release is obtained, our ambassador to the US, no doubt with prior clearance from his bosses, announces that the IDF will withdraw from Gaza. More Kassams will rain upon Sderot, the digging of tunnels will continue and soon we will have a re-run of this movie. Never mind that two soldiers were killed and six wounded. We will be able to bask in the kudos of the international for our display of restraint. The real winners will be the Hamas led PA and the losers will be Israel.
