When people on this website begin to have real political discourse and not just cheer for the side they support...only then can I respect any of your opinions.
36. All religious fanatics and murderers, including Israel
Jeff ,   Canada   (06.29.06)
The only solution to this would be mutual anihilation, the world be better place.
37. Syria revealed its true colors long ago.
howard ,   pacific coast, usa   (06.29.06)
It doesn't support HAMAS. It controls HAMAS. It uses HAMAS. Syria doesn't support the Palestinians. It uses them and abuses them and keeps them from having a reasonable peace. Just like Lebanon ;-)
38. watch Syria....flounder to their knees
Don ,   TX   (06.29.06)
Syria can't even shoot down 2 air planes flying over one of the most sensetive parts of their entire country. As far as the muslim fighters in Palestine returning from Iraq, they are in Palestine after retreating from Iraq. American, Nato and Allies fighting is winning in Afghanistan and iraq and we can go door to door and win in Palestine too.
39. It's time to get their attention
Don ,   Houston Texas   (06.29.06)
I would like to see Israel hunt down the family members of the kidnappers and kill everyone of them. Mothers, fathers, brothers sisters, women children and men, and then move to their extended family. If terrorist groups want to fund terrorist suicide bombers then those bombers need to know that their reward for commiting suicide in an attempt to kill other people will be the slaughter of their entire family. after 20 to 30 entire families have been slaughterd because of terrorist suice bombers I'd bet that volunteer suicide bombers would all but disappear. I know it's harsh and it sounds terrible but something as brutal, drastic and obsceneneeds to be done to get these peoples attention. Arabs understand brutal and violent murder, it's time we become fluent in their language.
40. Damascus, Syria
Pamela ,   Santa Rosa, CA USA   (06.29.06)
The Scriptures clearly teach us that Damascus will do something that will bring their own destruction... Pray for the peace of Israel!
41. Amy (#27) needs to check her facts
Raymond from DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (06.29.06)
She writes, "It is the huge financial support from the USA that enables Israel's Warfare Monster in the first place." Fact: Israel gets under 3 billion in US aid, most of which is spent on US-made equipment. Israel's GNP is comparable to the combined non-oil GNP of the *entire* Arab world, so that aid is not as critical as it once was. But it's a fair deal because Israel provides the US with a lot more of value in the area of strategic cooperation. In comparison, Egypt gets over 2 billion in US aid, most of which is spent on armaments. The Palestinians, until the post-Hamas victory, were getting over 1 billion in aid annually from the EU and US, plus more from the UN - higher per capita than any populace in the world. What have THEY done with their aid money? What you call Israel's "Warfare Monster" is in fact a defense against the monsters that surround her.

The best airforce pilots in the world are the Jews. Their enemies should never underestimate Israel's capabilities.
44. Response to an act of war
Arie   (06.29.06)
syrian controlled terroristscrossed into sovereign Israeli territory to commit murder. The originating nation is just as culpable as the actors in the attack. The only error the IAF committed was not releasing its missiles in Syria

The US does not shower countries with its largesse because of the liking or disliking of an individual State. It does what it does with the distinctly premeditated intent of taking advantage of a situation to its own benefit. In the case of Israel, this country has been an asset to the US in the Middle East the past 50+ years. It has been and will be the ONLY SAFE non floating Aircraft Carrier at the disposal of the US... It has the ONLY SAFE PORTS and the ONLY SAFE ARMAMENTS and ORDINANCE Storage Facility for the US in the Middle East... Israel has been the ears and the eyes and the frequent tester of Russian and US Armament/Ordinance for the benefit of the US.... The US extends its Aid Package to no less than 56 States in the world. Israel has a GNP of approx. 120 billion dollars and can surely do without the measly 3.1 billion dollars in aid package and all the pressures and arm twisting tactics that this entails. Provided naturally that the 2.6 billion are ALSO taken away from Egypt and umpteen millions away from Jordan and the pA terrorists. For the first 25 years, Israel's economy reached a striking average growth rate in the GDP of about 10 percent annually, while at the same time absorbing several mass immigrations, building a modern economy, fighting five wars and maintaining security. This economic miracle is credited largely to the use made of economic aid received over the years, enabling mass capital investment in means of production, and to the country's success in rapidly absorbing immigrants and involving them in productive settings. What is productive about palestinian society? Or for that matter, Arab society? What is their gift to civilization besides the number zero? Israel invests almost a fifth of its national output on education, just ahead of Singapore, Japan, France, Germany and the United States. The country's seven universities enjoy top ranking and Israelis with higher education account for approximately 25% of the population. Major firms like National Semiconductor, IBM, Intel, DEC, Motorola and Microsoft, have set up research there. Elscint started at the Technion, the first university established in modern Israel. Technion's more than 36,000 graduates provide the highly trained engineers and scientists for high-tech industry in Israel. Elscint regularly draws from this valuable resource. The aid package you allude to is extended to Israel, Egypt, Jordan and the PA amounts to less than a fraction of 1% of the global aid package. Please take the time to educate yourself on puking up spurious and inaccurate accusations against Israel. I look forward to pouncing upon your ignorance again in the near future.

Don Quinne ,   Canada   (06.29.06)
Hey fellow Canadian, who is feeding you this load of nonsense? These Arabs knew full well that by kidnapping the Israelis, Israel would respond harshly. See, life means everything to the Jews, they don't celebrate their kids blowing up other people's kids. You see, the Muslims don't want peace, they want the entire area of Israel, not just the pre 67 area. Read your history and see that in 1948 those fool Arabs could have had a country larger than anything they'll ever get in the future. If you're not an anti-semite then you are ignorant. Or maybe both?
50. CAN YOU IMAGINE......?
ALAN ,   USA   (06.29.06)
WOW, CAN YOU IMAGINE WHAT SYRIA WILL BE LIKE WHEN ISRAEL TAKES OVER THAT COUNTRY? JEWS WILL BE ABLE TO GO BACK TO ALEPPO! FREE SYRIANS WILL BE ABLE TO SKI AT HERMON.
51. Israel actions
Lonnie Mason ,   Berea Kentucky USA   (06.29.06)
Think about it for a second, all of the leaders or anyone else for that matter. What would you do? Say that China for example had someone kidnapped and knew who did it, would they not use force? Lets now say you, your brother was kidnapped and you knew who did it. Would you not go to extremes to get him back. Show all force to make them give him back. Everyone wants to scream foul when it doesn't invovle them, but lets say its you them what? Would it then be ok. Its like cancer, no one gives a crap about it until they or someone in there family gets it and then cancer needs a cure and everyone needs to try and find it. So remember, what if you where the soldier, kidnapped and threatened. Would everything that your country would try be ok? I think so.

59. Hypocrisy
jc ,   Canada   (06.29.06)
No doubt the area has been troubled since 1948. No doubt that in 67 and 73 Israel was attacked by forces that, had they succeeded, would have engaged in serious genocide. For 30 years, the occupants of the West Bank have no hope and no citizenship. In the same situation, many citizens of the Jewish state would behave in exactly the same manner as the Palestinian militants. It is interesting that these refugees were not the perpetrators of the invasions. These folks have been caught in the middle for 30 years. In the same week that IDF missles miss and kill 13 citizens, several of them being little children, there is much outrage about a soldier being kidnapped. I say SHAME. Shame on Israel for acting for years as a bully. Sharon had the right idea. There will be no peace until the occupied territories are prosperous and free of Israel. And what about the economic pressure applied to the territories, all because Hamas won't make a stupid ideological statement that no on will care about. Shame on Hamas for not capitulating and putting its citizens at risk. Shame on Fatah for being too corrupt to leave in power. Shame on the US for supporting Israel in all of this activity. Especially the crippling of the territories by withholding currency. This is such a destructive act. The symbolism of the statement required by Hamas will be lost on the real militants. Shame on the arab neighbors of Israel who started all of this 30 years ago and now do NOTHING. I am saddened for the residents of the territories and Israel. Now the IDF is arresting members of the Palestinian Assembly - a powerless organization thanks to the very policies Israel has intiated. What is next for the IDF? Isolation in Gitmo style concentration camps?
