1. good article
Michael   (06.29.06)
Is there hope? for the Goverment to think f past their noses. Can Olmert be a real leader and admit his plan noble in thery isn't going to work?
2. Olmert Sucks
Bob ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (06.29.06)
He's nothing but a nobody who got to where he is by being a brown-noser. Spineless coward...and if you ask me, his empty speeches and tone, and even his look remind me of some WWII leader of Germany whose name I won't mention here.
3. mr. benyovits
yiftah ,   israel   (06.29.06)
what the hell is your point? talking out of your ass is not going to offer a solution.
4. A referendum would have been best
Rachel BenDavid   (06.29.06)
A referendum on the subject of the disengagement would have forced the leaders to analyze it - if for no other reason than to explain it to the Israeli people before a vote. Will we get a chance to do so on Olmert's next plan - or will we be forced to accept decisions made by craven politicians? And where will the press be - backing a referendum or backing those who want to go full speed ahead?
5. The Left Wing in me is dead
James ,   TA   (06.29.06)
Almost all of the predictions by the 'far right' have come true.... As a Kadima voter, I am very disappointed in the gov'ts illusions of a 'peace process' and policy of restraint. The Pals overwhelmingly want war...they have proved it in action over and over again. Enough is enough, its time to take the kiddie gloves off the IDF and allow them to restore the deterrence factor against our enemies.
6. No Nobel prize for Olmert?
Illan ,   Israel   (06.29.06)
There is no point for Olmert to remain in Israel. He will not receive the Nobel prize. Time to pack the rest of the familly and leave for Virgin Islands, Paris or Hollywood?
7. WHY?!
(06.29.06)
why did u fuckers vote for olmert? see what happens now? bibi was the right guy for it ... too bad because of you lefty morons ... f*** off
8. the disengagement was a success
dave ,   herzliya   (06.29.06)
No-one said Hezbullah was going to put down their weapons, and no-one said disengagement was going to make peaceniks in the palestinians. In both cases the right wing predicted a bloodshed, well what we have seen is a far cry from the daily deaths and attacks we'd read about when the IDF was in both places.
9. The more important question is what ...
Ron ,   LA   (06.29.06)
The more important question is what Israel and Palestinian REAL interests. Israel interest is to disengage so we can have Jewish and democratic state. We don’t won’t those violent and barbaric Palestinians, so we want them to have their own state and to leave us alone. Palestinian interests are NOT to disengage because they know this will be the end to their aspirations to create their Muslim State INSTEAD of Israel. Their only hope is the support of the West. In case of disengagement even this support will wane. The fact is they are not a nation so they are not capable of creating their own state ( as we see clearly in Gaza). The solution in my opinion is to give Gaza to Egypt and Judea and Samaria (90% of it) to Jordan. The advantages are clear. Egyptians and Jordanians can make their own “ Arab style” order. For somebody who don’t know, Arabs can do many things what democracy as Israel cannot do. For example what Jordanians did in one “Black September or Syrians did in Hama... So this is benefits everybody. Israel gains peace quiet and stability, Jordan and Egypt gain stability for their regimes and Palestinians get a “ parent” they need to prosper. Every sane person knows their nationalism is a leverage for Israel destruction anyway. I think this is the best solution for everybody.
10. Good Analysis. Must Go A Step Further
Adina Kutnicki ,   US   (06.29.06)
In line with this cogent article the writer should conclude - IF PM Olmert insists on going down this blood strewn path, the people must depose him (for if he acts in direct opposition to the will of the public, he is indeed a despot) and then put him on trial for crimes against his people. Dereliction of duty is certainly a prosecutorial crime.
11. #9 (Ron, LA)
sk ,   USA   (06.30.06)
Ron, I consider you one of my Ynet buddies, but you have now said something so silly and so ahistorical that I must chime in. Ron: The solution in my opinion is to give Gaza to Egypt and Judea and Samaria (90% of it) to Jordan. The advantages are clear. Egyptians and Jordanians can make their own “ Arab style” order. For somebody who don’t know, Arabs can do many things what democracy as Israel cannot do. For example what Jordanians did in one “Black September or Syrians did in Hama... sk: This is the same nonsense that Rabin and the rest of the Oslo crew said to justify bringing Arafat and his cronies back from Tunis and setting up the PA. This time you compound the error by implicitely allowing Egypt to build up the forces for "Arab style" justice right next to Israel. You crazy? Egypt facilitates "Palestinian" attacks against Israel. You think this will stop? Jordan, in addition, is hardly in the position to project force into Judea & Samaria, even if it wanted to. More likely, the monarchy would be undermined from J & S. This may be a good thing, if Israel could be counted on then to expel the "Pals" to Jordan. Of course, if it could be counted on to do that, it would have expelled them already.
12. ron
rania ,   jerusalem   (06.30.06)
your suggestion about paif thelastinians ...egypt ....jordan if the palastinians agree .do you thinkegypt or jordan will agree ,,,they divorced the palastinians long ago
13. I used to be in favor of negotiation...
Dan ,   USA   (06.30.06)
but before we can do that, the Palestinians must surrender unconditionally just like the Nazis and the Japanese did. There can be no more conditional victories or conditional defeats. There is no further room for error.
14. James #5
Yisraeli   (06.30.06)
So what took you so long James? Why didnt the left in you die with all those that were murdered on the busses in TA right after Oslo? And all the arab carnage poured on us whilst Rabin & Co. had the audacity to say 'korbanot l'shalom' sacrifices for peace, who has ever heard of such a rediculous statement. And why didnt the left in you die when Barak offered then 95% and instead of accepting Arafat started a war. 6 years later thousands dead and maimed and you probably still supported the Gush Katif expulsion? and believed all the lies the left were telling you whilst all the rights views became illigitimate and were imprisoned by sharon and his cronies. So James...............what the fuck took you so long???????
15. Who says, Israel never recieved anything for the pullout
Don Saliman ,   Nahal Oz Israel   (06.30.06)
Israel for her part gave up Gaza and in return,Israel recieved, over 1000 Kassams.
16. best piece of writing so far
yonnatan ,   miami   (06.30.06)
But lacks a suggestion for a solution. The solution dear folks is to defeat the radicals. What does defeat look like. It is like when you cold cock your opponent and he cannot get up to lift his head off the mat. Or when your oppoent stutters and cannot respond. How do we get there? Shock and awe. Shock and awe. What does this look like? Ask the IDF generals and give them a free hand as they did in the West Bank under Sharon.
17. #11 Hi, Buddy wellcome back.
Ron ,   LA   (06.30.06)
I don't disagree with you, however do you have another solution that can work in a long run? Please don't tell me about new round of negotiations... Worthless.
18. #12 Rania Good question...
Ron ,   LA   (06.30.06)
This is very risky of course, but there are benefits and this is the only way for some closure. US must pressure a lot too... lots of money must be invested... but this is the only solution which can work for Palestinians as well. I don't believe in peace otherwise. Remember Jordan is 60% Palestinian. You guys are relatives for better or for worse...
19. #13 Dan.Me too..
Ron ,   LA   (06.30.06)
The Palestinians has been used shamelessly by Arab countries to fight Israel, since they were defeated over and over again. They were interested to keep the conflict going. It was of coarse the interest of Russia and Eastern Block at the time. They used Arafat for this purpose and put lots of money and propaganda into it. Unfortunately Palestinians have never understood that they are simply tools in somebody’s else toolbox. All those years Palestinians acted against their own interests. Arabs really don’t care. The only reason they need Palestinians is to unify their populations against outsiders so they can rule and abuse their own people. Palestinians by themselves are not bad. They are simply being manipulated. This is their tragedy...Truth harts.

HBendor ,   New York USA   (06.30.06)
The best piece of “Humorous Reality” yet to be encountered anywhere. Don you came out with the real McCoy... Olmert and his retinue of nincompoops/kidaynicks who received each a Volvo Car must go!
21. #13 Ron
HBendor ,   New York USA   (06.30.06)
Practically all you said are real except of course. The so-called Palestinian Arabs not bad is a contradiction in fact... There isn't enough space on this 'Talk Back' to list all the atrocities committed against the Jews from the 1800 to date. Ron all I am trying to illustrate is that I own nearly 2000 books in my library that would prove your statement about the Arabs of Palestine as fallacious! a) They are usurpers of the Land of Israel. b) They are squatters on the Land of Israel c) They are all encroaching on Eretz Ysrael d) They have 22 countries of their own created this past century e) Their motivation is non political but rather so-called religious Kill the ‘KAFIRUN=NON BELIEVERS IN ISLAM’

HBendor ,   New York USA   (06.30.06)
The first time since the Altalena, Jewish blood was spilt by another group of Jews under the hospices of a turbulent leader (Olmert) who wanted to outshine his predecessor and who received his impetus from abroad... i.e. Bush and Blair & Co Ltd in their reasoning and ‘cavalier attitude’ towards the suffering of Jews. Now ‘Overbright Olmert’ wanted to perpetuate another disaster in Judea and Shomron but with the will of G-d this is postponed for a while because of the present situation.
23. #2 Bob
HBendor ,   New York USA   (06.30.06)
Let me second your emotion Bob. Olmert is an empty head, busy body that wants to outshine his predecessor and was stopped cold by divine intervention I suppose. We cannot always wait for 'Divine Intervention'... this Olmert and his followers have to go!
24. #5 James
HBendor ,   New York USA   (06.30.06)
Kol Hakavod to you James. You get also my personal respect. A man should never be ashamed to own he has been in the wrong, which is but saying in other words, that he is wiser today than he was yesterday. Alexander Pope (1688-1744) British Poet.
25. prime minister and defence minister of israel

26. War & Not keeping the torah link
Abey ,   Tel aviv, New York   (06.30.06)
All what is going on in Israel is not because of olmart or sharon or bibi or the Palestinians. If you open the 5th book 'devorim' you will see word by word what hashem said to moses if Bne israel will not keep torah & mitvots. If we jews which we call ourselves start keeping just a little the torah, you will see wonders i promise.
27. Sharons tac-tick
Alex ,   LA, US   (06.30.06)
There were no attacks by the end of 2003. They started when Sharon said that he does not care about Jews and needs some virgins (72 to be precise). I guess he got virgins and Jews got Kassams.
28.  Wrong PM
RPM ,   Chehalis, US   (06.30.06)
Anyone with half a brain now knows that Olmert is a joke, Bibi was right! Israel's only chance is to finish the job that happened in 1967 and remove the Muslim enemy from Israel. Push them into Egypt from Gaza, Push them into Jordan from the West Bank. Then build a wall on the Egypt border, the Lebanon border, The "Eastern" border of the Golan Heights (screw Syria), and along the Jordan river, East bank (screw Jordan, as well). Remove all Muslims first, of course, and then kill them, indiscriminately, if they try to shoot rockets on Israel. "Nuff said!
29. the problem is...
Betsy   (06.30.06)
in my opinion, that anyone, AT ALL, could have ever considered giving Gaza up to the palestinians. I guess the people will always protest one action or another but if we could only have decision makers who are not blind.... Abe was right, "you can please some of the people some of the time, etc..." but at least if our leaders, instead of trying to please whomever, would SEE to make wise choices-regardless of what anyone else wants. who didn't see this coming? should those who did not see this be calling the shots?
30. #5 mazel tov, let it rest in peace

this is a good sign and I'm sure there are more like you. it's time for waking up to truth and for Jews to become one people.
