1. Sabbath
David harris   (06.29.06)
Will they play in Friday night games?
2. Sabbath
Steve Pulvers ,   Lawrenceville, USA   (06.29.06)
Of course they'll play. Farmar plays and Stern (NBA commisioner )attends games Friday nights and Saturdays. Jewish high school and college athletes who attend secular schools also play on those days.
3. I'm Not Proud
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (06.30.06)
#1 brings up a good point. Too often, we are proud that some Jew is successful in some area of life, such as in sports, the arts or entertainment, that unavoidably involves violations of Jewish Tradition and Law: Desceration of the Sabbath, filthy language, immoral behavior, etc. Why should I be proud that some talented 7 foot 9 Yid on the Celtics will be dribbling between his legs on Shabbos when he should be home making Kiddush and telling Divrei Torah?
4. to #1 and #3
Josh ,   Jerusalem   (06.30.06)
what do you care? why is that you have to try to bring this kid down when he has done something amazing? what you should be doing is giving him love and support in the words of Torah. Not everyone can change their lifestyle in an instant. The Rabbis also speak of not forcing religion on someone. You can guide and assist but don't force it on them. Give him encouragement and support and maybe one day, whether it be this year or ten years, he won't play on the sabbath. In the meantime support him. Unfortunately you would rather close your eyes to the world, and talk dirty about our fellow Jews. By doing this you are only encouraging Jew vs Jew violence and anti-semitism. it's always good to have positive Jews in the non-Jewish public eye. this is a little stepping stone in helping erase anti-semitism.

Hillel ,   Israel   (06.30.06)
As an observant and tolerant family, we love your message and as parents and grand parents, this is one talkback we'll be discussing at the Shabba(s)t table. Good luck to the two talented young sportsmen, and we hope the Jewish and the observant communities, take care of you and invite you with warm hospitality into their homes. We're NOT proud of Matisyahu and his megabucks during the Nine Days, are you #3?( the talk back from ranaana )Not one frum Aussie Jew in the audience? He'll miss them, we hope.

"We're NOT proud of Matisyahu and his megabucks during the Nine Days, are you #3?" If this is true, I am not only not proud, I am ashamed.
