4. Gay fascism
Nat ,   Montreal, Canada   (07.04.06)
The gay agenda isn't gay rights, it's imposing their will on everyone else. Why do they have to flaunt their choice in a way to hurt and offend people. Why do they need to parade their sexual choice? That is why the gay fascism parade should be blocked.
5. Amen
#2   (07.04.06)
Agreed Entirely!
6. The FEAR of the LORD
Brod ,   USA   (07.04.06)
"The FEAR of the LORD is to hate evil..." Proverbs 8:13. Merriam Webster's Collegiate Thesaurus defines evil as: "whatever is harmful, distressing, or disastrous, attempts to grasp the nature of evil, ill, bad, badness, devilry, diablerie, diabolism, evilness, satanism, satanity, wickedness, wrong, whatever is morally unacceptable, sin, wickedness, wrong, sinfulness, wrongdoing, evildoing, misconduct." "The LORD lifts up the humble; He casts the wicked down to the ground." Psalm 147:6. "The LORD takes pleasure in those who FEAR Him, in those who hope in His mercy." Psalm 147:11. It is good to see men of GOD admonishing those who flaunt their lifestyle. Over the millennia, GOD has a message for those who flaunt their lifestyle. They are found in the following texts in the Holy Bible: Genesis 19:1-29 Leviticus 18:22 Leviticus 18:29 Leviticus 20:13 1Kings 14:24 1Kings 22:46 Romans 1:26, 27, 32 1Corinthians 6:9-10
7. parade legal, but provocative
(07.04.06)
Legally, there is nothing stopping them from holding this parade. However, there motivation for choosing Jerusalem is questionable. Is this really about pride, or is it more about offending those who view your sexual preference as immoral?
8. Doesn't sound like sarabeth fein has read the Torah
aaron ,   usa   (07.04.06)
9. Gay / Homosexuals are
John ,   NZ   (07.04.06)
either God's mistake or the work of the Devil. Since God do not make mistake, it must be the devil. Gays need help and not discrimination.
10. gay rights
Rafi ,   Canada   (07.04.06)
as a modern orthodox person, who's university educated i feel the orthodox community, specifically the ultra orthodox community must be more accpeting of gay ppl. like there is such a big issue made of out of very little. Not that i believe all jews must be religious, but if the ultra othodox would focus on education and kiruv (outreach) then wehn our intermarriage rate is a lot below 50% as it is now, then i think we could focus on the small things. also if u read the pasuk on homosexuallity in the Torah it says "a man cannot lie with another man as he does with a woman." Now if hallachicially there is no such thing (according to Torah) as sex preformed in the ways done by gay ppl, it is not possible for a man to lie with another man in suhc a manner, therefore negating the whole issue
11. gay people
tzippi ,   usa   (07.04.06)
I have always felt ambivilant about Jewish gays. As an orthodox Jewish woman I I have always felt ambivilant about Jewish gays. Last night I saw the movie, "Trembeling Before G-d", it gave me A deeper understanding of the issues orthodox Jews, who are gay, face. Be careful when you speak to people who suffer from this affliction. They are also HaShems children, and thier tests are not our tests. It is important to believe in the Torah AND to have compassion.
12. Dr
David Klein ,   United States   (07.04.06)
If there is one God, there are no other dieties (e.g. devil)....so: "either God's mistake" or not God's mistake. I prefer to think that God did not make a mistake, but rather made life and saw that it was good.
13. OMG...#1,3,4,6 and 7
Spinner ,   World   (07.04.06)
If you think of listening to Rabbi Ovadia Yose....well...you surely are crazy!!! They as #4 says "it's imposing their will on everyone else. Why do they have to flaunt their choice in a way to hurt and offend people". At least the gay community show their true colors...unlike the Rabbi's....who use masks or sunglasses to hide their work...use their agendas as "Gods" word... Steven from usa = jackass Fear no human...but fear God/ The Lord? Why is the devil in him/her? God ONLY deserves LOVE!!! NOT FEAR!!! So if the LGBT community feels the Rabbi's are immoral in their preferential views and are offended by it? So what then? What to do? Let people live and enjoy their life the way they want to live? OMG... heaven forbid that humans should be happy and loving while here on earth.... Quit your hate....let people celebrate their lives the same way you would like for them to let you live and celebrate yours!!!
14. Gay is not OK
Yoni ,   Los Angeles   (07.04.06)
The Torah does speak clearly. Unfortunately, throughout the world we see that any city that institutionalizes homosexualtity as the norm, the entire cities is brought down morally speaking. IE South Beach, Amsterdam, San Francisco. POINT: THere is NO ROOM FOR THIS IN THE Holiest CITY on earth, disregarding what you may or may not FEEL
15. Rafi do not truly respect the Torah
Yoni ,   Los Angeles   (07.04.06)
B/c if you did you would not try to find excuses but rather let it speak to you according to what IT is saying not what YOU want it to be saying.
16. Gay Pride?
Mary ,   Canada   (07.04.06)
I absolutley believe in compassion for gay people. However, living in a city which openly celebrates gay pride with annual parades, I have yet to see very little PRIDE in the behaviour of the participants. There is a far greater display of embarrassing, flamboyant behaviour which would never be tolerated from the heterosexual community. Pity not Pride.
17. Shame on you
Rick ,   California, USA   (07.04.06)
Jews, more than any other people on the planet, should understand the plight of gays and lesbians for equality and fairness. The position taken by these so called religions leaders is anything but religions or leadership. Shame on them and those who worship with them.
18. Why are they not banishing arab traitors and making Israel a
Bunnie Meyer ,   Santa Monica, CA   (07.04.06)
Jewish state?
19. Gay parade : No way.
Ioannis Kafetzis ,   Nicosia , Cyprus   (07.04.06)
Israel has the obligation to ban such a gay parade in Jerusalem as all the 3 main religions view Jerusalem as holly. No place for sin in this city. Send the gays to have their parade in the desert with their camels.
20. gay and olmert
Alex ,   US   (07.04.06)
Stop datiim. Kick them all out of country. They are disaster of state of Israel Olmert, don’t cancel parade. Remember, religion is a disaster. Any person who believes in god or anything like that is idiot.
21. As usual, Ovadia has it 100% WRONG.
Adam Adamati ,   Israel   (07.04.06)
"The ultra-Orthodox community fears that holding the Gay Pride Parade in the capital would expose religious youth and children to homosexuality." SEEMS THE ULTRAS WANT TO DO IT THEMSELVES: A Jerusalem yeshiva teacher was arrested for allegedly sexually molesting teenage students in a city yeshiva, police said on Monday. The 48-year-old suspect was apprehended late Sunday after a 20-year-old former yeshiva student complained to police that the teacher had repeatedly sexually abused him during his bar mitzvah lessons seven years ago. The suspect confessed to the allegations against him, and even admitted to sexually abusing other 12-15-year-old male pupils as well, Jerusalem Police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said. http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1150885908986&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull
22. Gays are cool
Talula ,   Israel   (07.04.06)
Why don't these people get proper jobs, have less children, stop schlepping money off the government and do their army service like decent citizens instead of trying to put the kibosh on a gay pride march. Why do they continually attack people that are not like them? Why don't they just leave everyone the fuck alone. We'd all be so much happier for it. Let the gays march, let them be who they are - WHO GOD MADE THEM TO BE!!!!!. At least they won't be setting internet cafes on fire and burning tires.
23. Homosexuals are intolerant
Menachem Ben Yakov ,   Jerusalem & NYC   (07.04.06)
It is ironic that homosexuals , who demand others tolerate their “ lifestyle “ , exhibit no tolerance for the feelings or values of others . Why someone should be “ proud “ of their sexual proclivities at all is astonishing . After all the lowliest beast in the field is capable of intercourse . One can however be proud of letting ones neighbor live in peace . Intentionally upsetting others is immoral . Parading ones sexuality is simply boorish and infantile .
24. OK, let's say that these extremists get their way...
Adam Adamati ,   Israel   (07.04.06)
and that the parade is officially relocated or prevented. The entire world will see Israel, and Jerusalem in particular, as: 1. Undemocratic 2. Fanatic 3. Controlled by thugs. 4. Unenlightened. Hmmm... Just like Gaza! Well, as far as Public Relations goes, this puts Jews back to 1932-1945 Europe... but the roles become reversed; we become the oppressors, just like the CNN says! And what about all the THOUSANDS of closeted rabbis? I personally have met dozens of Orthodox Gays and Orthodykes. They all impress me with their knowledge of Torah, their hate of hypocracy and their committment to be as God created them...Gay! The parade should occur in Jerusalem as scheduled. Put the homophobes in jail with terrorists!
25. RE; #21. CORRECTION
Adam Adamati ,   Israel   (07.04.06)
NEVER would I relate or equate pedophaelia and abuse to homosexuality, but admittedly there is some co-relation here. Pedophaelia IS A SICKNESS. Homosexuality is not. It is genetic and biological. It is NOT a choice or preference... Orientation, is the correct word. Living a Gay lifestyle is a choice... now think about it, who would CHOOSE to count oneself among the most feared and despized? Why only the bravest and proudest! And there you go.
26. A fruit tree
(07.04.06)
If I have a fruit tree where a branch hangs over my fence into the public way can someone come by and pick the fruit? Or should I be compensated? What if while picking the fruit the branch breaks and hurts the person on the walkway? What if there is a capital city with a public walkway where I wish to parade? What if that parade is political in nature? What if it offends the body politic of that city? What if it is suppoted by some of the body politic? but not others? Should I still parade? Sages are wise men. Sages often disagree. The Talmud is filled with arguments. If each sage is right but they are in conflict or dont' agree who do I follow? In this I've learned Sages are best with Chicken. If this is confusing I'll say it more clearly. The Gay Pride Parade has a RIGHT and now and OBLIGATION to march in Jerusalem. It would be cowardly for them to move it because a group of people unwilling to defend their country might be "offended." It is time these people learn that the "gay agenda" is the same as everyone elses. Gay people want to vote live love and work without bias because of who they are. Nothing more. They want to go to the store, buy a home and live with someone they love. Nothing less. If that offends you, makes you feel ugly or somehow provokes you, then you should look in a mirror and learn what causes this inner struggle. The bible is a book. It may or may not have been written by G-d. But it's laws are not all carved in stone...just 10 of them.
27. The haredim have their priorities, you know.
sk ,   USA   (07.04.06)
Do these guys in clown suits care about the security of Israel? Nope. Are they even patriots? Nope. Do they care about the sanctity of ALL the land of Israel? Nope. Do they care about mosques on the Temple Mount? Nope. Do they care about encouraging Jewish feeling among the Jews of Israel? Nope. Do they care about building the economy? Nope. Do they care about being respectful and loving ALL Jews? Nope. Do they believe in democratic governance? Nope. How much Torah do these guys (including Abu Yosef) really know? Isn't it obvious even to a casual observer that the haredim, however accomplished in minutiae, are utterly lost as Jews?
28. I really dont understand why they must do it here
Caligula's Horse ,   Solomon's Stables   (07.04.06)
I mean, they know that this is a holy city and that their actions will hurt other people's (who happen to be the majorty) feelings, why be provocative and make people angry on purpose.
29. A horse is a horse, of course of course (#28)
sk ,   USA   (07.04.06)
C'mon, CH, you're a sensible enough equine to understand this. If gay rights organizers avoided places where people would be angry or feel provoked, there would never have been any marches anywhere. In Moscow, the mayor made arguments comparable to your own to reject the march. I would certianly think that the abominable behavior of the mayor and the city council, in addition to that of city notables, has pissed the hell out of the pride organizers. And the organizers are RIGHT to be pissed. Those who hate gay people will not hate them any less if the gays avoid them. No, the haters need to be drawn out, just as they are being now in Jerusalem and throughout Israel. Then you need to get in their faces (figuratively) so they can see that you will not be intimidated by a bunch of guys in clown suits. Haredim are still a minority in Jerusalem, but it woudln't matter if they were the majority. Just because they squat there, it doesn't follow that all must bend the knee to their sensibilities. Now if the Haredim actually showed respect and love for ALL Jews, different arrangements might have been made.
30. "Gay Pride "March
Mick Roberts ,   Warrington England   (07.04.06)
No good can come of this and it must be stopped by any means-and I do mean any means. I'm normally against anything the haredi rabbis do but in this I'm with them.Abomination.Forget holding it in Sodom as suggested-Bus them all to Helmand Province and let them display their perversion in front of the Taliban.
