9. Welcome.
Caligula's Horse ,   Solomon's Stables   (07.05.06)
10. Jews of low quality
3500 jews from US, 3000 jews of france and 300 british ones do not make together 24000. It seems that the rest is alyah from the former soviet union, which is so unwelcome in Israel, that it does not even deserve to be mentioned in the article at all. It is not so suprising, that many people, who moved in Israel from the FSU in begining of 90th, now thinking about coming back or changing Israel to Canada. Just got tired to be treated as a "low quality staff".

11. welcome home its not easy but--------its

15. The reasons why
There is no mention of Aliyah from The FSU, and the reason is very simple, 7119 new immigrants from the USA, France and The UK, add up to tens of millions of dollars, not what it costs Israel but what they bring to the economy, so its really simple its all economics, the sad thing as that more than 50% will return back to their native country within three years. Its time that all Jews are treated equally and believe me if it was not for the Aliyah from The FSU, Israel would be a small nobody, and that ladies and gentleman is a fact.
Moti ,   Jerusalem   (07.05.06)
16. dont feel bad
I think that u (# 10)are exaggerating slightly, the reason for people wanting to leave israel may be more to do with the country and not whether or not that got a mention on the internet or papers. I came fm Australia, and no one waved a flag for me or my fellow countrymen when we arrived. I think the issue here is that jewish people are making Aliya and the comment abt Russians being treated differently is irrelevant, u talk to any group of former Olim and will find that they all have something to say about their successful/failed Aliya and I hope that is not based on whether they got a mention in papers/net or not!!!

18. Mark # 5
Thank you Mark. To make alyia is already in my mind. I just depend on somethings to be resolved by here. If one of these issues get to be resolved in about the next two months ,I intent to go to Israel just following it, and stay there for some 6 months and then come back to Brasil and start preparing a defitive alyia. Let's see how HaShem is deciding Himself my plans.

19. To Russian Jew
Russian Jew --when very large numbers of Russian Jews were first making aliyah in the 90s it was hailed not only in Israel but in the rest of the world with applause. The reason the americans, brits and french are being applauded now is first, this is a new and growing phenomenon and secondly, these are Jews who are trading much better financial situations in those countries for much worse ones here --giving up good, high paying jobs and big comfortable houses for well, what we live like here. At least I don't know anyone here living in a 325 sq meter house! They will be poorer in the financial sense but much richer in every other. Still, it is not a decision many make from those countries. The russian immigrants from the past 20 years have done so much for this country and they should be thanked. Each group of immigrants leaves its mark in ways large and small on our culture and when they are first here they are almost never appreciated (same as in any country) but over time they are valued more and more. From me, thank you to the Russian immigrants. Thank you to the Ethiopian immigrants, to the french, brits, americans, canadians, brazilians and all those from so many other countries.

Many FSU left Israel for the U.S.

21. RUSSIAN JEWS ARE AN EXAMPLE OF
CULTURAL RESISTENCE AND ARE PIONEERS IN ZIONISM. IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO THINK OF "JEWISH PEOPLE" WITHOUT COUNTING ON THEIR HISTORY AND PRESENCE. ON THE CONTRARY MY ISRAELY BROTHER-IN-LAW (POIDISH) WAS VERY ADMIRED OF THE GOOD EDUCATIONAL QUALITY OF THE RUSSIANS OLIM OF THE NINETIES. I MYSELF HAVE BEEN TO ISRAEL AT THAT TIME AND REALIZED THE SAME.I THINK THIS NEW IS JUST ABOUT CELLEBRATING A SURPRISING INCREASE ON THE MENTIONED "ALIOT"

22. #20
Sorry Akiva, I dont know where you get your facts but you are wrong, I am sitting with an official spreadsheet and on average 50% leave Israel within the first three years as apposed to 6.5% from The FSU. Before thumb sucking figures please check your facts. Of the 900k former FSU olim only 7.85% have left, the trend amongst all western countries is very similar to that of the US. The question is why do so many leave the land of milk and honey? The answer is very simple, a previous post mentioned what they leave behind, but thats not why they leave, they leave because of simple inequality and resolve to change the status quo.

25. #19 Aviva That was a very warm and welcoming statement.
I almost want to leave right now. I know that there is a shortage of Chiropractors over there, so I don't expect too much of a hassel. Making aliya has crossed my mind many times, though like some others, my time has not yet come.Hopefully it will come sometime in the future. I'm so happy for Israel though, because it means more strength and talent. It will be the premier jewish melting pot. What an invigorating thought! Thank you Aviva, for the welcoming kindness expressed in your talkback statement. Shalom!

29. How much would I need to start a life.
I just got out the Marines after 5 years enlistment. All my other friends when they got out of school went to a Kibbutz for a year, but I went to the U.S. Marines instead. I have about $10,000 USD saved do you think that would be enough to make an aliyah? Is their any web sites with job offers in Israel?
Meir ,   Oceanside, CA, USA   (07.06.06)
30. #29 Meir answer and aliyah resources
With 10,000 in savings, particularly if you are single(!), you will do just fine. For information about Aliyah check out the following: http://www.jewishagency.org/JewishAgency/English/delegations/Israel+Aliyah+Center http://www.jafi.org.il/forum/ http://www.nbn.org.il/ For job listings and info check out: http://www.jr.co.il/aliyah/jobs.htm The AACI (link below) helps with finding a job once you get here: http://www.aaci.org.il/
