Hizbullah is justified in its attacks and will win this war in the long run. They broke the land hungry IDF myth seven years back. Im from Beirut, Lebanon and in the end the IDF will do what it will to get their soldiers back. Unfortunately we have spent 20 years rebuilding our country, and now a militia such as Hizballah has provoked Israel to retaliate by destroying the country we have worked so hard for. If in clear conscious Israel will prove that this will end hostilities and consider it a solution then go ahead. I believe that by destroying a country full of people who are generally optimisitic for peace (after all Hizballah DOES NOT represent the majority or anything even close) this will double, triple and even quadruple the amount of hostility towards our southern neighbors. Israel is famed for getting the exact target, so how come they havent done it yet? How come they plan to turn the lights out on the entire country and its people? I understand the Israeli point of view completely as I am a person that is famed for being a devils advocate. But i believe that the initial instinct to attack will just bring about more and more violence., resentment and hatred. Look at it this way. Israel is destroying an whole country for 2 soldiers. Israel detains hundreds of Arab (Lebanese) prisoners for one or two soldiers...if you translate it it means: "A hundred or two of you Arabs are not even worth 1 of our soldiers" That in itself is SO degrading that even the most passive and peaceful person will be deeply cut right in the heart. The problem is that some Muslims here may feel that they will lose their hope in ever getting back their loved ones that have been detained if Hizballah were to be 'dissolved' or protested against. They have been brainwashed into believing that they are their only salvation. How can u explain that to people who have lived with these ideas for years? Its not easy for us, as peaceful Lebanese civilians to get thru to people who have been under bombing and fear of Israel for years and years.
